I do love that I can download their shows to my phone, it has dramatically improved my daily commute.

I'm finally getting through the entirety of The Dick Van Dyke show.

Airplane rides tv/movie watching and light internet browsing at home are all that my kindle fire is good for. I need to take another trip so I can finish the first season of Man in the High Castle.

Does amazon have a good Netflix app? I know Amazon's YouTube app sucks.

It works fine for me.  But, if you already have a Fire and Netflix, why not just download it and try for yourself?

I don't have Netflix and was wondering if it travels well on a Fire. I am probably going to cut the cord soonish and will also lose access to a friends Netflix account.

/YouTube app still sucks.

Just flash it with CFW. I bought one of em last year and had it running CFW within an hour of taking it out of the box.

I've used it on my cheap $35 kindle fire and it works well.  The only issue I've had is that if you completely exit the app or turn off the power, it tries to connect to the internet and doesn't give access to the downloaded shows until you connect to netflix again.  This was about 6 months ago when they first let you download for viewing later, so it may be fixed now.  I just haven't tried again out of fear of a 4 hour flight with no Netflix.

I think they have a 1 month free trial if you want to check it out.

Who needs an in-flight internet connection? Just upload something before you leave, or watch what they've got on the plane.

I've learned from Fark that most of these people are extremely fickle about their aircraft/airport experience. Any little thing is apt to set them off, from someone eating food or someone trying to talk to them. Internet connection is probably way up there on the priority list.

I loaded a bunch of books and movies onto my iPad for my 14-hour LAX-SYD flight.  The inflight entertainment options provided by Qantas were so good, that I never even touched the iPad
