...way to bury the goddamned lede.

What "government work," exactly, is the daughter of the president doing? She became an unpaid employee in March as an "advisor," but she's basically just taking notes and funneling them - where, exactly?

It's getting more and more obvious that Emperor Hirocheeto (man, I love that...) isn't running the show. But, who is - and with what checks & balances? It's like watching the mob in action - the entire Trump family's running the show, including extended family, and their minions are there to act as enforcers. To whom do they answer, though? I mean if both Ivanka and Jared are sending encrypted emails to folks unknown, using private accounts and not disclosing the contents, it's safe to say that we have no true idea as to who's making the decisions and to whom information is being given (or leaked.)

So at what point do we just assume that if Trump or one of his allies accuses somebody of doing something, that they're guilty of it?

Subby, it's very simple. Crooked Hillary used an address in the .com domain which is for communists and other criminal liberal activities on the internet. Ivanka uses an address in the .ru domain, which is for Republicans for U, the U standing for USA, of course.

I've been wondering that about Repubs in general for the last 25 years. All of a sudden, they'll all start saying the same things, from the Senate to the substitute talk show host on the 10AM slot on an AM station in Grand Island Nebraska. Who coordinates that shiat? I expected by now we'd have seen a few tell-all books from disillusioned apparatchiks from the W. Bush years, but no one's talked. Or maybe no one's asking.

In a statement to Newsweek, a White House spokesperson pointed out that Trump was not a federal employee at the time she sent the February 28 email. When she became a federal employee in March, "she made clear that one of her reasons for doing so was to ensure that she would have access to government-issued communications devices and receive an official email account to protect government records," the spokesperson said. The spokesperson added that prior to her obtaining an official account, Trump's emailing other official accounts "ensured the records were preserved and available under the Federal Records Act." Trump did not have an official email account as a first daughter at the time, according to the spokesperson.

At this point, I'll give her a pass on this one. Once she had a gov't email, it's a different story. But as it stands, if she didn't yet have an email address, it's kind of hard to email. And if she kept all emails between herself and a government email, they're right, there'll be a record on that end. And it should be really easy to tell. If nothing else, the IT guy who manages their email server should have a record of when the request was made.

See, when Hillary did it, that was bad because she was privy to state secrets and it's possible she might have accidentally sent classified info out an improper channel. Lawyers are known for doing that sort of thing all the time! They are totally unable to compartmentalize and forget who's supposed to know what info, sitcoms taught this to us years ago.

Meanwhile, miss Trump is such an expert in compartementalization that she put all of her daily activities into the same bucket. She can do her fashion design, listen to daddy blab classified into while trying to continuously cock-block him, fetch a juice box for Jared, all while using only one email account. There's no mixup of whether she should have used govt email or not when she simply doesn't use it at all! Smart.

Good point.  When I worked in government offices, they made it clear that you couldn't exploit their stuff for personal profit or other nefarious enterprises. But on your own phone or computer, on your own time and dime? I loath and detest these people, but some of the stuff coming out seems to be just meaningless chaff on the radar.

Technically, it does seem to be illegal now.  From Politifact:

There was not an explicit, categorical prohibition against federal employees using personal emails when Clinton was in office, said Daniel Metcalfe, former director of the Department of Justice's Office of Information Policy, where he administered implementation of the Freedom of Information Act. High-level officials like Clinton need the flexibility to sometimes use a personal email, such as responding to a national security emergency in the middle of the night.

So it seems she didn't break a rule simply by using a personal email to conduct business. Rather, by using personal emails exclusively, she skirted the rules governing federal records management, Cox said.
...
In Clinton's defense, we should note that it was only after Clinton left the State Department, that the National Archives issued a recommendation that government employees should avoid conducting official business on personal emails (though they noted there might be extenuating circumstances such as an emergency that require it). Additionally, in 2014, President Barack Obama signed changes to the Federal Records Act that explicitly said federal officials can only use personal email addresses if they also copy or send the emails to their official account.
