He has Rs in front of both of his names.  If his middle name had been Reginald he would have gotten three terms.

79%

8 out of 10 Republicans approve of Trump's leadership.

He's a racist,  Russia-colluding mysoginistic, illiterate asshole that is bilking these same taxpayers even though he is a supposed billionaire who spends his time golfing or watching television or on Twitter but they farking love him.

Unfarking real.

Because he is them.  If given half the chance they'd love to be the grifter

It demonstrates to me how to be a Republican you either have to be a moron or morally bankrupt/downright evil.
In many cases both.

You know, no matter how demonstrably and explicitly incompetent, dishonest, indifferent, heartless Donald and Republicans continue to be, in their minds, a Democrat is worst.

I have co-workers that are smart on the surface, but hating liberals, Democrats, and "those people" is so ingrained in their psyche that it will never be reformed. This is what 30 years of propaganda does to people. Reactive, unthinking, unwilling to see what is right in front of their eyes.

So long as he can't achieve anything, his Republican support will increase.

If the "true approval rating" was constantly decreasing I'd imagine we'd see a long decline in his approval among Republicans, followed by an uptick as people stop claiming to be Republicans. Like how in 2007 it became clear that George Bush won the presidency despite literally no one voting for him, or how American forces in WWII ran into all kinds of Nazis in France, but once they crossed the Rhine, Nazis? Never heard of them.

At least, I hope that's what's happening. I want to think better of people.

They don't get out of the propaganda bubble.  Do you think Fox News is breathlessly reporting each dropping shoe?  No.  These idiots won't know pay attention to what's going on until indictments start being handed down.

When that happens, you'll see a shift.  Not a huge shift, but a shift all the same.

They got tired of hearing it, so they filtered that one out.  For a crowd so eager to say "f*ck your feelings" they sure spend an awful lot of time protecting their own.

The Republicans are now pedal-to-the-metal batshiat crazy shredders of the Constitution, and are unstoppable given the mental in-agility of the general voting populace they are scamming. That we regularly get under 65% turnout in major elections is a testament to bi-partisan collusion and corporate pandering. Sure the Dem's current platform offers some center-right ideas, but both parties make Ike look like he was having a threesome with Lenin and Marx.

We are so utterly screwed. At least I have my education to help me earn some scrawny bucks when I'm older, sicker, and weaker...hopefully, my brain doesn't melt down so I don't end up on the streets.

2017-09-25 04:29:40 AM
My dad is one of those folks. It's fascinating; he's an intelligent person otherwise and he's not overtly racist. . . most of the time. He's just a die-hard Republican whose politics are so enmeshed into his ego that he simply can't afford to admit he's wrong. He'll go through these intricate mental gymnastics to convince himself that anything Trump does is okay. "Yeah, he's an asshole," he's at least conceded, "but that's an immature way to approach politics. It's his policies and what he's doing for the party that you've got to pay attention to," he'll continue to add. Of course, when I actually bring up Trump's policies (or lack thereof) he'll either get defensive of deflective.

Partisan politics is an interesting beast. I actively try to put myself above it, and while I will admit that I tend to heavily lean democrat these days, it's only because the democrats haven't descended to the point of being a nihilistic death cult. . . yet. I just can't imagine being so supportive of a political party or a specific politician to the point where it becomes a part of who I am.
