Moore told me point blank that the U.S. is a "Christian nation"

Moore *knows* we aren't anything of the sort....but he just doesn't give a f*ck about facts.  dude is juuuust this shy of the Taliban when it comes to respecting the rights of others and Alabama is likely to put this asshole into the US senate.

He claimed that Islam is "a faith that conflicts with the First Amendment of the Constitution," and insisted that, even after sodomy laws have been struck down by the U.S. Supreme Court, homosexuality doesn't "have any kind of public right."

"[Islam is] a faith that conflicts with the First Amendment of the Constitution," he said in our interview. "The Constitution and Declaration of Independence has [sic] a direct reference to the Holy Scriptures."

When it comes from God, no man or no court, can take it away. That's a God-given right under the Declaration of Independence, which is law itself."

Here's a thought. Stop electing people who couldn't pass a fourth grade civics class.

I said I was going to stay away from the politics for a while due to outrage fatigue but here I am damnit.

This evil farker doesn't deserve to be a dogcatcher, let alone governor of a state:
This alone disqualifies him from any humanity:

"Homosexuality," Moore wrote in the decision, is "an inherent evil, and if a person openly engages in such a practice, that fact alone would render him or her an unfit parent."

Moore is exactly the sort of 'leader' that the religious right intends to inflict on this country.  he's the sort who'd love to bring back witch burning and inquisitions.

Actually, Trump is right on this one at least :

"Donald Trump himself is backing Strange at the urging of the GOP establishment in the Senate"

Which radical authoritarian religious figure?  Oh, it's THAT asshole.

Given the quotes from the article, this former supreme court judge does not understand the laws of this country in the slightest.  That's both amazing and alarming.

For the record, when I was a 10 year old boy Ray Moore tried to get me to give him a blow job in exchange for a pack of Big League Chew.  Just putting that out there.

Unfortunately, we are going to have to rely on the business side of the party to keep guys like him and Steve King in check.
Looks like our only voting power is with our checkbooks.

Unfortunately, a majority of the more ignorant  voters respond by automatically voting for any individual that claims to have GAAAAHHHD on his side. Bonus if he has a Foghorn Leghorn accent, and also is old and grey, because "those young folks" don't  have any of those "down home valyers".

he's tried to warp the law so often it got him booted off the bench twice.  now he's likely to become a US senator and be able to WRITE the laws.  expect him to become incredibly dangerous to women, LGBT folks and every non christian in this country.  Moore *WILL* roll back civil rights at the first chance he gets.

of the alternatives, my money is split evenly between sexual interest in members of the same sex; his wife not letting him fark her ass (so he's created this huge performance to convince her heterosexual anal sex is not the same as homosexual); and his wife being desperate for him to fark her ass (so he's created this huge performance to convince her it's not ok)

As I take it we are governed by those we give that power too. I think a strong argument can be made for the lack of genuine education in Alabama. Between that and the reliance on their Bible for government instruction is a potion for hate.

When I lived in Miami long ago, I couldn't really understand the visceral hatred the Cubans there had for Castro. Now, though, seeing Apricot Pol Pot and these other Republican scum, like this utter PoS...I got it. When they are all out of office, I will be dancing in the streets and celebrating hard.

90% of the churches are Christian churches is an interestingly misleading statistic. Is he only referring to those religious institutions that referred to themselves as specifically a church? And furthermore, how many people are attending those churches?  Is it kind of like Trump's 3,000 empty counties that gave him the office?  My block has a huge synagogue with hundreds of attendees and two little Protestant churches on it.  Is my block Christian or Jewish then, really?

Either way why play the majority card when the GOP has directly told us for years they are explicitly in favor of minority rule?  Just say you're in power and you'll do what you want for that reason.  It's more honest, like Jebus wanted.

The only real differences between the Taliban and the American "religious right" are A: the name they call the God of Abraham, and B: the American religious right grew up in relative comfort, so it's far harder for monstrous assholes to get them to murder in the name of the assholes' ideology.

Seriously, losing a twitter fight to a bunch of guys from a sport best known for brain damage should be grounds for invoking the 25th amendment.

Gordon Bennett: He claimed that Islam is "a faith that conflicts with the First Amendment of the Constitution,"

In terms of sharia law, it does; he is not incorrect as far as that goes. But so do Catholicism's canon law, Judaism's halacha, Hindu dharma (in the sense of religious law; the term also has other meanings), and the laws of other religions. The Framers were aware of all this, which is why the First Amendment forbids the government from establishing any form of religious law as the law of the land.

"The Constitution and Declaration of Independence has [sic] a direct reference to the Holy Scriptures."

I would be interested to know what he thinks of as references to the Holy Scriptures. I just looked over the transcripts in the National Archives and found none. One or two mentions of a conspicuously unidentified god, and a bunch of references to Locke, but not to Scripture.

Who is this article trying to convince? It's Alabama. Wouldn't we be better served with a more targeted campaign?

Maybe some sturdy girls in pink camouflage caps holding a Milwaukee's Best while whispering "I'll pretend to be your sister if you wait for me all day behind the Piggly Wiggly on Tuesday."

I feel empathy for normal people in Alabama, and to be clear, I don't mean just libby libs. I include people I can disagree with pretty strongly on a lot of things, but who are nevertheless ashamed and horrified that this evil clown has been a state supreme court justice twice, and is now about to become a senator.

F*cking Alabama. At the forefront of the push for an evangelical Nazi nation serving the interests of Putin.
