Did some quick and dirty searches in Google, and couldn't find a list of the hires, along with background on them.  Anyone have such a source?

Refilling the swamp?

[T]he meat would be shoveled into carts, and the man who did the shoveling would not trouble to lift out a rat even when he saw one-there were things that went into the sausage in comparison with which a poisoned rat was a tidbit. There was no place for the men to wash their hands before they ate their dinner, and so they made a practice of washing them in the water that was to be ladled into the sausage. There were the butt-ends of smoked meat, and the scraps of corned beef, and all the odds and ends of the waste of the plants, that would be dumped into old barrels in the cellar and left there. Under the system of rigid economy which the packers enforced, there were some jobs that it only paid to do once in a long time, and among these was the cleaning out of the waste barrels. Every spring they did it; and in the barrels would be dirt and rust and old nails and stale water-and cartload after cartload of it would be taken up and dumped into the hoppers with fresh meat, and sent out to the public's breakfast.

Just kinds of sprang into my mind unbidden. No idea why.

They used to have a pretty great cafeteria in the DC HQ. I wonder if any of these random Trump campers could actually coordinate shipments from the four corners of the US of A to get the good stuff to that cafeteria every day.  Never mind the actual good work they're supposed to actually be qualified to do.

One of my favorite conspiracy theories of the last decade (and I heard it for several different sources, including people in the beef industry) was that vegans had infiltrated USDA and were actively trying to turn the United States into a nation of grass-eaters. I kept hearing that exact phrase, "a nation of grass-eaters."

Remember the LFTB/pink-slime brouhaha? Yeah, even that was blamed on vegans, and apparently it was a plot to get kids to think meat was gross. I'm not joking. I'm not creative enough to make this shiat up.

So knowing Trump's fondness of bullshiat conspiracy theories, it wouldn't surprise me a bit if that's his motivation.

Lysenko is maybe the most famous person involved in the agricultural crisis.  Not sure he campaigned for Stalin, but Stalin appreciated that Lysenko played a role in encouragig farmers to return to their farms and wanted to bolster Lysenko's career as a means of showing support for the proletariat (Lysenko was of peasant stock).

Unlike these appointments, Lysenko did study and work in agriculture; he also happened to be a moron and was stuck in a system that encouraged doubling down on bad ideas (not that our present system doesn't).

Has there been a president in recent memory who hasn't pulled this corrupt nonsense?  It is always bad when this happens, but both parties rely on this tactic.

Hell, Jefferson was threatened with blackmail for refusing to appoint some clown the Postmaster General of Richmond.  Not sure any president has taken a stand since.

Abbreviating my claim does not invalidate its accuracy.  Both parties do it, both should be made to stop.  For that to happen, we likely need other viable options for which to vote.

Obama appointed plenty of bundlers and supporters to various posts in his administration.  Politico anda number of other outlets covered it at the time.

Everyone complaining about Trump's actions here should absolutely be complaining.  To the extent they realized it happened under Obama and Bush and Clinton in the past and did not complain about it then, they should have.

No, vote dor whomever you believe best represents your goals and moral ideals; be open to discussing the merits of your views without assuming everyone who doesn't share your views is acting in bad faith; don't treat politics like a sports competition where you owe loyalty to a candidate even when they do crummy things.

The corruption at play in politics isn't going to disappear ever, but it seems likely to be pretty bad when we have only two viable options.

Yes, because the only way to demonstrate corruption is to find a case that matches the facts of this case so precisely that the appointees had to have the same job and be appointed to the same post.

You are free to use google.  "Obama appoints political donors" is probably angood way to start.
