Oh boy oh boy oh boy. Looks like it is going to get interesting. Now I fear is when we will find out whether or not Mueller will be "fired". I truly hope not.

Hope everyone had a good day.

The real fun starts when Mueller puts his cards on the table.  And the New York AG files the state charges.

We'll hear the Twit in Chief and FOX News beating the Mueller war drums first.  The drums have been quiet lately.

Or when Mueller files/recommends serious charges and Trump responds with pardons.  The political landscape comes unglued for a day or two and then the NYAG files State versions of those charges, which Trump can't pardon.  I like the idea of a couple days of the GOP marinating in their undeniable and blatant evil for the whole world to see before getting the follow up gutpunch.

Is there any case law for this?

As in double jeopardy or what not?

I understand the difference between state and federal courts, I'm not arguing that. But is there anything that can force Trump to be on trial (especially on a criminal case) while he's sitting in the WH?

/IANAL
//I honestly don't know if there's any precedence for anything like this.

Kellyann Conway's husband argued successfully that Clinton could be civilly sued for things he did before becoming president.  I don't know if that has any bearing on a criminal charge against a president for things he did before inauguration.

I believe Clinton testified during a grand jury. That may be the closest we have to a sitting POTUS testifying under oath in a legal proceeding.

one of the theories that's been bandied about in various poltab threads the past few months is that

A) the idiea that the president can't be brought up on criminal charges while in office is more of a tradition than a hard and fast rule, as it's potentially throwing open a Pandora's box of unintended consequences and precedent, and

B)  if state-level charges are accepted as the way to go, there's really nothing stopping them from shelving the charges after filing them, without concern for statute of limitations running out, and have them ready and waiting to frog-march Trumpy's ass off the inauguration stage the instant the next guy is sworn in. though the thought of what kinda dumb shiat trumpy would pull knowing that there's criminal charges nobody can pardon him from and an AG looking to nail his ass to the wall as hard as possible with Mueller helping with evidence is kinda terrifying...

I know how he feels, because I've been in a similar situation.  It's unbelievably distracting to have something going on in your earpiece while you're trying to concentrate.

I can't imagine what it's like to be doing live television with that stuff going on.
