I doubt Erdogan's account. Trump doesn't apologize.

He'd probably never apologize for something he did or controlled.  Throwing someone else under the bus?  Those tiny hands can grab a lot.

Which is why he blocked a gun deal for Erdogan's security detail from going through, I guess?

I could see him saying "I'm going to demand an apology from those loser protesters"

To be fair, Trump does like watching American citizens get beaten up and/or run over by a car.

Or he made it into a secret deal that we'll never hear about except in the event that a FOIA request gets upheld by SCOTUS.

Beat me to it.  Where's all the conservative outrage over this actual apology to a foreign head of state?

Turkish President Recep Tayyip Erdo an said that President Trump called him last week to apologize for the bloody fight between Erdo an's security and protestors in D.C in May.

Seems like The Hill has the same activist autocorrect feature I do. Mine also refuses to name that particular asshole.

"You've got to give him credit," Mr Trump said. "How many young guys - he was like 26 or 25 when his father died - take over these tough generals, and all of a sudden - you know, it's pretty amazing when you think of it. How does he do that?

"Even though it is a culture, and it's a cultural thing, he goes in, he takes over, he's the boss. It's incredible.

"He wiped out the uncle, he wiped out this one, that one. This guy doesn't play games and we can't play games with him. Because he really does have missiles and he really does have nukes."

I'm not sure what happened to the link...maybe the site updated it and left a relic of a headline.

But I think this is supposed to be the link: http://thehill.com/homenews/administration/351461-erdogan-trump-apologized-to-me-over-turkish-bodyguards-attacking

Erdogan has a bit mord political saviness than Trump. He doesnt need to lie about this stuff to justify himself to the Turks, he already owns his country. 45 however has shown himself to be laughably easy to manipulate and Erdogan likely drew a recorded apology out to use as ammunition in future talks with the US state dept "Heres a phonecall from your president saying the protestors started it, not my guys. Do you want to go on the record that your President lied? He doesnt seem to be a fan of those who go against him."

The US is in a weird place with Turkey. It's a long time ally that's slowly devolving into a dictatorship. We need them for strategic reasons but the very quickly falling out with them on their domestic politics. Washington's question is whether our interests are better served by remaining friends with Turkey, keeping the strategic access, and exerting pressure to protect their citizens' rights or do we straight up denounce their actions, removing all moral ambiguity but losing an ally and military bases and access.

you're being a bit naughty bringing up these 'trump sanctions' (as you callt them) again, dittybopper. we went through, complete with supporting evidence, why you were wrong to call them 'trump sanctions' with you at the time, several times

Oh, we get to play this game again

Erdogan: Trump apologized to me.

Official White House statement: No he didn't.

What Trump tweets in the next day or two: TBD (But if history is any guide it will be a public apology to Erdogan)

As easy as it is for me to believe that Trump is a limp d!cked motherfarker when it's time to stand up for the rights of American citizens in the face of agents of a foreign power acting on US soil, I'm going to wait for someone other than Edrogan to verify the apology before I get all pissed off. This could just as easily be a power play by Edrogan in response to the Kurdish independence vote next week.

He is apologizing for the fight infringement of our 1st Amendment rights that that dick-tater Erdogan's 2-bit mafia thugs started??  What the F*CK.

Not only should we NOT be apologizing, we should be punishing them diplomatically. They don't get to come into our house and disrespect a sacrosanct rule of our constitution.

Or, I guess they do when that weakling orange turd is in office.

I'm not certain whether or not Trump actually apologized to him. BUT, I do feel certain that announcing it is a power move by Erdogan. He's betting Trump will not dare to forcefully denounce it, a sign he sees Trump as weak and is testing him.

Funny how his concern wasn't that this "security detail" was going around beating up American citizens, but they were prevented from carrying firearms while doing so, typical Libertarian, gun rights out weight people's rights.
