Trump is about the best thing to happen to Putin and his international agenda. The crumbling of American leadership and the world turning away from the US as Trump is causing is hugely beneficial to Putin's Russia's position in the world.

Our allies are for the most part democracies. That means to get elected to office in those allies, candidates have to at least pander to their voters. If they're voters are completely turned off the US by Trump, anti-US people will get elected to leadership in our allies. Huge win for Putin.

But Trump is the Greatest and the Smartest. *sigh*

Trump many not be a racist Russian stooge but if he was, it sure would explain every got dammed thing he's done this year.

looked forward to the end of the Islamic Republic of Iran, the only real substantive difference he has with Putin.

I guess we know where he draws the line between appeasing Putin and undoing Obama's legacy.

Remember last year when one of the big pro-Trump talking points was that he would somehow restore dignity and prestige to the US, that somehow Obama had ruined the US's image worldwide and Trump would make the world like the US again?

It's like they are living in bizzaro world.

I didn't recognize any Michelle Obama quotes in the speech.

Aside from doing the jobs no American wants, she's lost writing anything but Rick Astley songs.

Eh, I get what submitter's trying to say but all asshole politician speeches sound the same. They stroke themselves, they threaten someone else (usually a relatively helpless target), they use words like "sovereign" and "destiny" and "history," etc. So Baby Donald's handlers "wrote" his speech in the sense that speeches from assholes tend to hit the same themes and be written in the same dickish tone.

It's basically an asshole template. Like Mad Libs, only sad instead of amusing.

They claimed that Obama had embarrassed America.

In reality, Obama had embarrassed them personally, because his mere existence challenged their belief in the supremacy of the white race.

You misunderstood. He did not say that other countries would like us; he said that other countries would respect us. Trump humpers confuse respect with bullying. Remember when he shoved his way past the Montenegrin PM at the NATO meeting? His supporters loved it. That's exactly what they voted for.

Trump rants about Best Korea knowing the whole time Russia is selling them the materials and he doesn't breach that side despite it being in the news today.

I have to admit that I'm impressed.  I did not think that Trump had the ability to shine Putin's knob and listen at the same time.

I will have to reassess my low expectations of the orange blob.

At this point, I wouldn't exactly be surprised if we find out that the man isn't just an unwitting Russian puppet, he's actually an agent.

The German phrase for 'agent of Russia' is Nothingburger.

Let's look at it this way: Manafort offered Oleg Deripaska daily private briefings on the Trump Campaign.  Travel manifests show that Trump and Deripaska we're generally within an hour commute by car from one another, if not on the same tarmac or sharing a harbor.

It is literally that bad.

At this point, I wouldn't be surprised is Putin's "disappearance" for around nine days or so a few years back was him setting this whole thing up and him being in close contact with Trump. It could have been planned that far back.

Stuff like this is worth remembering next time we have a thread in which people try to convince themselves Putin is about to release the pee tapes because Trump has outlived his usefulness to Russia. A Russian puppet in the WH would never stop being useful to Putin, even if he couldn't achieve certain specific objectives like lifting sanctions.

"Sovereignty is not a point prior American presidents have pressed. When global leaders invoke sovereignty, they usually mean that no one possesses the right to oppose what they unleash within their borders."

American sovereignty was always a given.
The Eastern Bloc members were evil in re-asserting national sovereignty against the Soviets? Britain wants to establish genocide camps? Oh the hilarious historical perspective of the brainwashed.
