Of all the talent that the Mariners have farked away, misused, or failed to capitalize off of, Ichiro tends to make me the most sad.  Sure we loved him, but he deserved so much better.

Met him in person a couple times, always a class act, did an amazing job putting up with people worshiping him.  Hell thanks to how cool his wife is I get to tell my amazing My Idiot Mom's Casual Racism VS. Yumiko's Effortless Class And Poise dog park story. Best part about it is that when I just googled her name to get it right the first pic that came up had their dog, the beast at the very center of the "incident" in the shot.

I wish he could have played in the majors long enough to take the hits record away from degenerate gambller and statutory rapist (allegedly on the latter, definitely on the former) Pete Rose.

Ichito is in the top three in that category, but I would put King Felix at #1.

I kind of wished he was still a Mariner when he killed that bird.

Randy Johnson long-suffering?  He ended up with a ring.

I also want to give Ichiro a hug.

No...I'm long-suffering because I'm a Mariners fan.

When Randy Johnson was brought up, it was because he's one of the talented players that the Mariners "farked away, misused, or failed to capitalize off of."

Felix is another example of someone most teams would murder half their players for.  More talent wasted in Seattle.

Maybe so, but at least those other fans didn't get him; they sound like monsters.

The worst part was the year he was traded... He really WAS crap for Seattle that year (ERA well over 4), until he was traded. Then he was legitimate amazeballs, and there were debates (before PTI and all that) about whether he should be on the NL Cy Young voting list because he'd only been on the Astros for a few months... But, he was legitimately the best PLAYER in baseball for the second half of that season.

Sometimes a player simply doesn't click with a team.  Look at Sergio Romo.  He had an ERA of 6.12 with the Dodgers during the first half of the year, then he went to the Rays, where his ERA has been 1.67.  The weird thing in this case was that he grew up as a hard core Dodger fan, but played for the Giants for eight years before getting a chance to go to his preferred team, where he bombed.
