I guess it's a good thing 45 doesn't drink coffee.

FWIW, my family was in the Smokies for a trip and decided to hit Dollywood on a whim - they absolutely loved it.

Don't disagree with her statement, but riling up the right wingers in Tennessee seems a bad idea considering Dollywood. These are the same folks who blew up over the Dixie Chicks back in the day.

Dabney was in some great movies in the early 80's and benefitted muchly from HBO/Showtime and the VCR.

Dolly seems fairly decent. I would probably go to Dollywood if I was in the neighborhood.

Dolly is different. No one can ever speak ill of her. Tennessee would be more likely to turn deep blue before middle America would ever abandon Dolly.

Yeah, Dolly's always seemed like a good ol' girl, and not one to chastise or judge people.  She enjoys making and performing music, and she doesn't take herself too seriously.  She'd be more concerned with Right vs Wrong than Right vs Left.

2017-09-19 06:05:32 PM
So Dolly's up there with Hanoi Jane and LGBTQ icon Lily Tomlin for a feel-good 9-to-5 reunion moment, and the mood turns strongly anti-Trump.

She's between a rock (lefty Hollywood) and a hard place (business interest that attract heavy Trump voter support). I think she navigated the slim line to daylight very well and showed her professionalism at an acting awards show.

If you're gonna be pissed off at somebody, be pissed at the decision to bring in Spicer. The humor factor was more than offset by the cringe factor, and I personally wouldn't have given him this huge opportunity to rehabilitate his reputation. It deserves to remain in tatters.

Dollywood is the nicest big park I've been to. Their execution isn't as high-level as Disney, but neither are their crowds or prices. It's far better than most Six Flags parks, and on-par with a Busch Gardens or a golden age Cedar Fair park.

You can write it off as a Cracker Barrel Amusement Park, but you're just cutting off your nose to spite your face.

A little nod to Dabney.  From his short-lived series Buffalo Bill.  He plays a local morning show host and here he's being profiled by another journalist.  Bonus - a young Geena Davis as his assistant.

Dolly Parton is country music royalty. Like Willie Nelson, she can say whatever she wants and share a stage with whoever she wants, and country music radio and the Nashville establishment wouldn't dare try to cook up a backlash.

Dolly is going to protect her brand, like Michael Jordan defusing to get into social issues because "white kids buy sneakers too". I'm actually surprised she pulled out a dildo joke, but I suspect her freakiness is a well guarded secret.

Spicer was trump's goebbels. I am hugely disappointed in Colbert trying to help repair his image.

Dolly is not only funny and smart, but she's extremely kind.  She raised about $3 million plus to help families displaced by the fires in the Smokies.  She sent monthly payments at first of about $1,000 a month to each family, and then an additional $10,000 on top of that.  Not many individuals can say the same.

She doesn't need whiny little biatch fans anyway.

Maybe I'm biased, but there is a lot of overlap between right wing and wrong these days.

We are, I'm, at a point where supporters of the right no longer get to pretend differences are just political.

/I have no knowledge of what Do thinks and is about, I just hate this American view where we pretend everything from  "brown people are bad" to "Poor's shouldn't have access to healthcare" is just politics.

Oh yeah, if anyone goes against Dolly they are done. Heck, even a guy owning confederate flag boxers would vote Jeb Bush over Trump if Dolly got mocked. Can you think of someone who doesn't say pleasant things about her (except Jolene but that hussy was debating stealing her man)? Dem or GOP, if you turn on Dolly, the world turns on you no matter the state

To be fair, D2S is a sexist, egotistical, lying, hypocritical bigot.

On a side note - there are some talented farkers out there. Someone has to 'shop that hideous orange visage onto Mr. Hart in the S&M getup scene from the movie.

My husband and I spent a few days in Pigeon Forge/Gatlinburg last summer and we went to Dollywood. They have the nicest employees of any theme park I've been to. They have some pretty good rides too.

With most celebrity/business people I would go along with this line of reasoning, but show my one time in the history of Dolly Parton where she said a word against anyone. If she was only concerned about her customer base she would have been bashing Obama the last 8 years, and doubled down on it by putting a Chick-fil-A  on the midway.

I think she truly subscribes to the ideal of "If you don't have anything nice to say..."

I Googled Dollywood Theme Park. They have a question and answer section about the park. The Trumpster bots had already planted negative comments about the Emmys and Dolly Parton silence. Some comments looked fake and had poor grammar. I wonder which ones were bots plants or the hooked?
