And with our help, we can make sure that $63 billion somehow finds it's way into our president's pocket!

None the real reasons for nativism and xenophobia are economic.

Sadly, the real reasons are all darker, and the people that feel them know it and try to pretend -- even to themselves -- that there are ethical reasons for their nativism and/or xenophobia.

There aren't any. Sorry.

People seem to think that it's impossible that someone who came here as a refugee or without a visa could contribute positivejr to this country, as if administrative clearance transforms people from bad to good.

But it's not really about that bureaucratic rubber stamp is it?

Paging all the people who said Clinton was as bad as Trump to the latest "oh farking God what the sweet gibbering hell is he trying to do now" thread... Please pick up the lilly-white courtesy phone.

Anyone claiming to be liberal who didn't vote for Clinton in November, I'll give the out that technically, it was only a hypothetical about how horrible Trump would be. The hypothesis was on a similar level to hypothesizing that a dropped glass container of nitroglycerin will explode, but it was still technically a hypothesis at that point.

Anyone claiming to be liberal who wouldn't vote Clinton now, given what we know now... is quite simply lying, or was never a liberal.

I'm not convinced it's 100% racism and xenophobia. I'm sure lots of people genuinely believe that immigrants are a drain on the economy rather than a driver. These people believe that without refugees, or undocumented immigrants, their economic lives and sense of safety will improve.

My brother sincerely believes this.  He also believes that repeal of ObamaCare will dramatically increase healthcare quality and drive down costs.  This is from a guy who is only alive after three heart attacks and not in bankruptcy because he was able to buy health insurance through the ACA exchanges.

He's an idiot.  And so are all the rest who sincerely believes getting rid of the brown people will magically make their lives better.

The study was completed in July but never publicly released, and it sparked intense debate within the administration.
Stephen Miller, the chief policy adviser to President Donald Trump, led the fight to bury the report, which some White House officials said was illegitimate and politically motivated.

Then on Sunday, a lot of them get dressed up in nice clothes and get together in a great big building to hear parables about, and sing praises and rituals of devotion* to a Middle Eastern Jew, BORN OF FLEEING REFUGEES who said we should all love each other unconditionally.

The worst failure of modern accounting is failing to account for money spent by people who aren't you.

Government employees are provided a semi-decent salary. Does money paid to government employees vanish from the local or macro economy? Of course not, they are buying cars, gasoline, food, clothing, homes, etc. And that stimulates the economy.

Contractors are paid to do their jobs. Does money paid to contractors vanish from the economy? Of course not, they needs all the things we need or desire to live.

Foreign countries are paid in debt to establish credit. Does money paid to foreign countries vanish from the economy? Of course not, because they are buying American goods and services!

I'm flabbergasted by the lack of basic understanding of economics these so-called businessmen have when they fail repeatedly to understand how to do business in America. Y'all motherfarkers sold steel to China. You're the problem.

DID U KNO: Syria was once a functioning high level state.  The refugees streaming over bring trade skills including medical and engineering expertise, and yes investments and bank accounts once they can re-establish their identities.

Yeah that's the scary thing by the way; you might only see brown people with nothing but backpacks (if they're lucky) but they are our contemporaries.  They had jobs, property, investments, big families.

Now, nothing, because of extremism.
