Wow, that was embarrassing when they did it in Top Gun. It was funny when they did it in Scream 2 because they admitted that it was a lame recreation of the Top Gun scene. This was just..."sad" isn't the word.

And what's with the "Veteran" T-shirt?

It was cheesy, but he gets that it's cheesy.  I'll take that over bullshiat fear-mongering ads any time.

The Army veteran and Rhodes Scholar is one of eight Democrats running for the chance to unseat Republican Barbara Comstock . . .

Well, that's one way to stick out in a crowded field.

You get them at the same store Belushi got his "College" sweatshirt.

I don't know how you're self-aware enough to say that you're a supporter of "bad singing" at the end of that ad, and yet unsavvy enough to still make that ad.

Yeah but he actually  went to college. And he was mocking the institution.

I dunno, it made me laugh. I'll probably remember his name.

He's served in Iraq/Afganastan .

So I think that counts as a veteran.

Why do you hate the troops?

Americans think that if you served in the military in any capacity then you're automatically fit for public office.

Yep. Except for those American voters and veterans who don't think that, you are 100% correct.

Unless you are John Kerry or Max Cleland.  Or any other Democrat.

I really hope so.

The lesson is, don't stick out in a crowded field.

They kinda overdid it on the stage makeup.

2017-09-18 06:35:37 PM
Silly, but no demon sheep. Still not as bad as Comstock. Hell, she was actually a lobbyust for Blackwell. I think that makes her a hechman. She's pro transvaginal utrasound against a woman's will (re-assaulting sexual assault victims), fetal "personhood," and she thinks immigrants can and should be tracked like FedEx packages. Did she ever have a Centrist Feeling? Did she ever have a thought?

And now douchebro frat boys wear that shirt unironically both in and out of universities.

I think he redeemed it with the "I approve of town halls, bad singing, and this message" tag at the end.

We can treat that with medication.

/Yes, it was a little funny.

I mean, a cheesy video designed to go viral has its place, but if you're a veteran and Rhodes scholar I'd kinda lean more on that rather than the dreck.

"I'm not a witch. Ok, maybe I dabbled with witchcraft in the past - but I'm not a witch!"
I always get a chuckle from that.

It reminds me of an old man who started talking to me as I was walking down the sidewalk in Berkeley.
"I don't smoke crack. You know, a little bit now and then - but I don't smoke crack!"

It would have been much funnier if he had someone do this to him at the end.

Getting an extra kick out of this because I've been trying to teach myself how to sing and play the guitar at the same time. I'm not very good at either. My cat doesn't seem to mind but the wife is not real stoked on my efforts.

Eh, cringy, for sure, but he seems like he has a sense of humor and good on him for going after her for her reluctance to actually face voters to account for her actions as their representative.

That was funny. Good on him.

Why does he only recognize 11 of the 13 original colonies? (Count the stripes on that flag on his shirt.) Which two states is he planning to nuke?

2017-09-18 06:56:02 PM
That flag shirt was a few stripes short of being an American flag.  Whats up with that?  Please tell me that was intentional, because if he can't recognize his own flag, he shouldnt be running...

If he follows this up with another ad along the lines of "now that I've gotten your attention" - here's my actual qualifications for the job.......   Then he could mount a winning campaign.  Veterans who are also Rhode's Scholars don't exactly grow on trees* (assuming he's also done something positive in the interim.)

*Will go to my death absolutely convinced that if John Kerry had chosen Bob Kerrey to run as his VP, that he would have beaten Bush back in 2004.  I have no doubt that the Bush campaign would still have used that whole "swift boat" attack to some degree on Kerry. But how easy could you trot out a Medal of Honor winner to refute the charges and score strongly against a couple of chicken-hawks like Bush and Cheney?

He also missed a perfect opportunity to have the black guy come in and take over just like in movie.

That way people would know that he likes black people.
