Talk about someone going off the rails.  Ben Stein has just gotten more conservative as he has gotten older.

I wouldn't say Ferris Bueller is overrated. Maybe you just needed to be there.

"We don't need Beyoncé lecturing us on climate change," Stein fumed. "We don't need Beyoncé lecturing us on racism."

Stein - a former actor and, arguably, a kind of celebrity - went on to opine that Trump is "the least racist president ever," showing that he can dabble in politics with the best.

The 2nd line directly contradicts the first.

Least racist and also in the best shape of any president. His supporters really want us to know they don't actually believe what they're saying. It's never "Trump is a smart guy" it's always "Trump is the smartest guy who has ever lived, ever (there's a gun to my head please call for help)"

Pretty clear what you were thinking about there, asshole.

I think it's the among the worst of the big 80s teen movies but a lot of people have fond memories of it. I liked Broderick in War Games but I can't get on board with him in any other role.

He also was a professor at American University, UC Santa Cruz, Pepperdyne University and Pepperdyne Law School.  That gives you a lot more reason to listen to what he says than being in a movie.

He also was a speechwriter for Nixon, which gives you a lot less.

I almost applied to Pepperdine Law but their application included a mandatory essay on what made me a good Christian. Nope!

On the one hand, Stein actually has a background in government which predates his acting career.

On the other hand, it was during Richard Nixon's administration, and he was one of the most racist assholes ever to occupy the Oval Office. He's the only recent president to whom Trump compares favorably on that axis.

The first line is pure opinion. If two celebrities want to argue about who's opinion is valid; let them fight.

The second line is a bald-faced lie laughing in the face of reality. Hair Furor, doing all that's possible to figuratively and mayby literally piss on everything the Black president before him did? Prince Trumpledink and the Wall he wants to build because Mexicans are Rapists and Murderers? The guy who is repeatedly on record backing Nazis and the Sharp Dressed Klan? (Who are also on record thanking him for his support)

HE is the least racist president ever? Holy crap.  I don't have enough drugs and alcohol in the house to twist my perceptions enough to make that make any kind of sense.

Well for one thing, he keeps tweeting for the last nine months thinking he's the president...

Ben Stein also said something stupid.

I would absolutely, definitely far rather hear what Beyoncé has to say about politics than Ben Stein. Or anyone else who claims that Donald Trump is the least racist president ever. For fark's sake, the only thing preventing him from being a contender for most racist is that several of his predecessors literally owned slaves.

My sister and i missed the bus once when we were kids.  We stayed home and watched that movie.  Until then of never occurred to me to skip school.
That movie changed my life.  For the better. I learned a lot more from skipping school than I ever learned going to it.

Sad to say, he's probably in the top 20 least racist, but that says a lot more about our history than it says about him

That's like being in the top half of presidents in my lifetime.  I was born in 1982.

"Some Kind of Wonderful" and "St Elmo's Fire" are the worst 80's teen movies, not because they were necessarily bad, but they taught us the worst possible lessons about unrequited love.

FTA:  "The effects of climate change are playing out around the world every day," she said. "Just this past week, you've seen devastation from the monsoon in India, an 8.1 earthquake in Mexico, and two catastrophic hurricanes. We have to be prepared for what comes next."

One of these things is not like the others.

Ben Stein is still a piece of shiat though, he buried his head in the sand back in the Nixon years, yet still swallows Republican Koolaid since then.  Which is a shame, because he is a smart guy.

Sharp Dressed Klan
I don't know if you came up with this but I like it.

Ben Stein, who is Jewish, claiming that a president who said that Neo Nazis are "good" and "fine" people is the least racist president ever is just a tad ironic (to put it lightly). Then again, this is the same Ben Stein who's waxed poetic about Nixon, his old boss, and his administration on countless occasions. Shiatloads of book smarts, but very little in the way of common sense when it comes to his own party.

It's what they do, why is Ollie North a prominent spokesperson for Fox News?  Why did Cheney/Ashcroft/ etc. pop back up during the Bush Jr. years?  They are like cockroaches that didn't get a fatal dose of insecticide, They go into hiding for a while, then come back with a fury, and they are welcomed back for some god forsaken reason.

Does Ben Stein do anything these days besides barf up conservative talking points? Also, does anyone recall any of these "librul celebrities need to stop using their fame as a pulpit!" people speaking out against Ted Nugent claiming he'd be dead or in jail within a year of Obama's reelection?

To be fair, Beyonce included the earthquake as one of the indicators of global warming.  That level of ignorance doesn't help either.

Umm...about that...
As noted in a disclaimer during the closing credits, prize money won by contestants was paid from a prize budget furnished by the producers of the show. Any money left over in that budget at the end of a season was given to Stein. If the total amount paid out during a season exceeded that budget, the production company paid the excess. In this way, Stein was never in any danger of losing money from his own pocket.
