Choke on the best record in baseball, haters, despite missing three top players (Nomah, Nixon and AL Batting Champ Bill Mueller).

Yeah, I know... wait until October.
I can't wait until October.

Suck it.

In May.

Their color commentator Jerry Remy has some kind of sick obsession with his 6 inch Wally (you can read that however you want). Every game, road or home, he sits the little thing in a miniature deck chair in the broadcast booth, and during lulls in the action he relates the recent adventures of "the original Wally".

In May.

In baseball...

we are actually tied with the Angels for the best record.
the same angels who got swept by the *ahaha* Blue Jays.. *ahahaha*

so yesterday at the softball field this cute girl shows up with a Yankees hat on.. two teams were scheduled at the same time for the same field for practice.. oops. so anyhow, we decide to mix up the players and scrimmage. (our team had more people show up)i said "i'm not on the team with Yankees fan".
jokes were made.. etc.
she was picking on me.. i got her number :)

Red Sox fan who wont call her because she's a Yankees fan.

and i'm married. mainly though, shes a Yanks fan.

We have the best pitching in baseball.
We have the best record in baseball.

And the most consistent record of choking late in the season, so the above makes no difference at all.

The best mascot in baseball.

and right now somewhere, the Phillie Fanatic is drinking straight bourbon while cleaning his gun.

/not to threadjack, but on a related note, how the hell does Fenway get away with having that huge wall? shouldn't it be against one or more rules?

2004-05-28 12:19:01 PM
Red Sox suck.
Yankees don't.

Typical baseball discussion. It's May. You are tied for the best record. Half game in front of the Yankees. Wow.........I guess if the fans can get excited in May then good for you. But don't hold your breath. Choke.

2004-05-28 12:20:14 PM
...and I swear I thought of that idea long before I saw Fr0let's post. For the record, damn you Fr0let.

For the love of all that is human. Not a Sox story after that farking disgrace of a game yesterday!

Nomah, it's ok to end the honeymoon now. Time to play ball.

This thread could get ugly.

After going to my first Red Sox game this year, I think their new mascot should me Cuppy, the overpriced 16 oz. of Bud Light draft beer. $5.50, give me a break. My friend got a 12 oz. Sam Adams, and that cost $6.50. Next time, I drink beforehand.

At least they have part of the street in back of Fenway blocked off for games, so the smokers have a place to go.

begs to differ.

Speaking of great accomplishments in baseball in May, I wonder what the record for RBI by the end of May is. Rolen has 49 now. That is sick!

When I was a kid in the 70s, I remember a guy named Ken Reitz (Cardinals) would always lead the league in batting in the first month of the season. He was always on some crazy tear, hitting well over .400 before settling down to .260 by seasons end.

2004-05-28 12:24:58 PM
HEY, Red Sox Fans. Remember this... last year you let this dork...

...END your season!

See you when it counts!

That showing last night was disgraceful. My wife's first game- talk about bad timing.

2004-05-28 12:27:33 PM
Man oh man was that a scintillating piece, or what?

Working in the professional sports world for the last eight years, I've seen just about every act and mascot to come down the pike, and for my money, the Phanatic is the best mascot this side of Ted Giannoulas.

JP Patches Read your bio. Thanks for reminding me of the genius that is Chris Wedes. I met him at a Sonics game about 10 years ago (in character) and he couldn't have been any more sweet.

Go Royals!

GO AWAY that is.

Worst in baseball, at least I have plenty of booze for the tailgaiting this evening.

I will think twice about buying tickets before the season starts next year.

"The Red Sox mascot."

Hrmmm... Verb verb, where's the verb? Ah! I know, it must be 'Sox', in other words: "Mascot soxed by the Red."

/Doesn't like mascots or baseball

2004-05-28 12:32:02 PM
IamGod2u typical delusional Boston fan, the Sux are tied with Anaheim so your statement is incorrect!!! How'd ya like the beating Oakland gave the Sux last night!!

Go Yankees!!!

2004-05-28 12:32:41 PM
Red Sox fans need to shut the fark up until they actually win a world series. It is one thing to root for your team, but I am sick of listening to asshats like Ben Affleck flap their jaws about how "we're gonna beat the Yankees this year- REALLY- WE ARE! HONEST!" Red Sox fans are by far the most myopic fans in all of pro sports. They talk like they are the Yankees. Every year, we see them come out of the gate like gangbusters, only to fall apart and play like the Tigers when it counts down the stretch.
/a Tigers fan-they suck, but at least they have won a world series in my lifetime...

2004-05-28 12:35:18 PM
Red Sox should just change it to the One Eye'd monster, they know they want to.

/probably been said.

That's why I like the Cubs- Come out strong, then, about the time I quit caring, they start to suck, then come in third. Never have to worry about them.

OK, lets sum up this thread so there wont be any more posts:

1. "The Red Sox are the Best"
2. "The Red Sox suck. Yankees Rock."
3. "The Red Sox suck. The Yankees Suck too. $OTHER_TEAM rocks"
4. "Boston sucks in General." (See #2)
5. "When's football season starting?"

/I'm #5 in case you're curious, Gooooooo Pats!
//Still going to a Red Sox game tommorow with my SO.

I actually met two of the people who played Wally once, at a taping for a commercial I was in up at ESPN. Really cool people. I wish Wally all the success in the world.

2004-05-28 12:40:45 PM
Last I checked, the Red Sox lost 15-2 last night while the Yankees won 18-5.

I expect the Chokemonster to return by the middle of July.

2004-05-28 12:41:22 PM
kyouzo,
baseball basically only has rules set on the bases and pitching rubber. pretty much everything else is up to who ever designs the stadium. you can also set up all kinds of "ground rules" to determine things that happen during games. for example a ball that goes into the ivy in wrigley is considered live until the ivy sprouts leaves. then it is a double.

2004-05-28 12:41:39 PM
Sox fans are the best in baseball. If you're not a Sox fan, you're a lousy human being. Deal with it.

2004-05-28 12:41:44 PM
Apparently for the Kobe trial, the prosecution is giong to be calling in a "choking expert" to review the bruises on the alleged victim's neck.

...okay i'm trying to come up with a punch line about a Red Sox fan...but I got nothing that works. Maybe one of the 50,000 comedians no this website can help a brother out.

Boo, Raider's fans can't enjoy the game unless they dress like a bunch of extras from Mad Max, and beat up on helpless general managers of other teams.
/Payback for the questionable roughing the passer call in '76.

2004-05-28 12:42:48 PM
I dunno man, The yanks didn't look all that good in the alcs last year. They may have won it, but they surely played more like the detroit than Boston did. Youre very very lucky that such a bad decision was made.

2004-05-28 12:42:56 PM
Shouldn't the mascot be a man playing the smallest violin just for the Red Sox.

/wishes he had a picture of Mr. Pink from Resevoir Dogs to really sell the line.

You can't complain against the Tuck rule as you got your stupid pass interference call in 1976.

Silly rule, but correctly applied in the situation. There was forward motion on the ball.

/Thread Jack anyone?

/me hates that bear

Sox fans: until you win something bigger than a Certificate of Participation ribbon, shut the fark up.

All I can say to Sox fans that think the Yankees suck:

41 runs in a three game series with the Orioles.
