I don't care any more. My inner nihilist is cheering for the disaster that will follow, because I'm tired of watching good people get beaten with sticks by stupid people at the behest of rich people. Perhaps, when stupid people start dying as the direct result of their own stupidity, they will start asking questions, like "why am I beating that person with a stick for saying that we all should be healthy" and "why am I still angry and poor even though the rich people told me that I could be a winner if I'd just beat that person with a stick?"

But it can always get worse. Even when "worse" happens. It can get worse than that.

Rand Paul has said he despises the Cassidy-Graham bill. Lisa Murkowski and Susan Collins aren't going to flip and support this bill that has almost the exact same problems as the previous proposals. No Democrat would support any bill that clearly annihilates Obamacare. That caps it at 49 votes in the Senate.

"Repealing" it outright removes the genuinely useful protections and clauses built into the legislation, which leaves millions of Americans abruptly without insurance, condemning many of them to bankruptcy, illness, and/or death.

The replacements, as proposed, are blatant giveaways to rich and corporate America in the guise of assistance.

The people who are most interested in "repeal and replace" have repeatedly demonstrated that their replacements are far, far worse than the current legislation.

However, they wouldn't have John Cornyn whipping votes or have McConnell request a CBO score if they weren't going to bring it to the floor, which (in turn) means they think they have a good chance of passing it.

Republicans thinking.

I believe we have found the problem with your logic.

Republicans act on belief absent of thought or reality.

They believed Trump would change, they believed they were going to overturn the ACA last time too.

They believe global warming is a scam, white people (specifically white male christians) are the most discriminated against and all sorts of other things.

Just yesterday they lost Rand Paul, and McCain is still not on board...

Why should we accept what they believe when there is a lack of any evidence for it?

This is just a BS statement by him to lend importance to himself and his bill so he can get in the news cycle.  The intent is when it falls apart he can blame his leadership and the Democrats and keep getting the rubes votes.

He'll use his statement as proof he's right even though it's faulty logic.

Did your mother drop you on your head repeatedly has a child?  Like "dribbling down the court for the lay up" levels of dropping?  You are talking about people who have been indoctrinated since birth that (a) if they suffer in this world Jesus will give them plantations of "coloreds" to lynch in the afterlife, (b) the already rich are their natural betters, and envying their success is a sin, and (c) as long as they can find even one "colored boy" to look down upon, they are already perilously close to being sinfully covetous of their betters' God-anointed position., so don't be getting notions.  Dying horribly for the glory of JP Moneybags is seen as the highest form of patriotism, not as a bad thing.  Having Mr. Bigbritches personally rape their wives and children and then set them alight while still alive won't change their opinions - it will reinforce them.

eiger: Lies!

More to the point, the only reason that the ACA (not "Obamacare" ― the real Obamacare did not pass ― that one had a Public Option, remember?) is "failing" is because of repeated and relentless sabotage by Republicans including state-level legislators and governors (such as by rejecting the Medicaid expansion in "red" states) as well as at the national level (such as Trump's denying of funds for CSRs and promotion, etc.).

If a person doesn't believe that the Bernoulli Principle (that fluids [liquids and gasses] exert less pressure when moving faster, including when traveling a longer distance in the same amount of time, which is the principle behind airfoils such as the wings on heavier-than-air aircraft) is real and that it actually works, the way to disprove it is not to become an airliner pilot and then crash an AirBus into the ground with hundreds of passengers aboard. All that does is prove that you were an evil murderous pilot, not that the Bernoulli Principle itself is false.

By sabotaging "Obamacare," the Republicans have prevented proving that it would've failed on its own accord (if indeed it would have).

I don't trust Paul at all. He has no principles other than posing as a libertarian while actually being a neo-Confederate. The bill sponsors are stripping money from blue states to bribe red states. Paul stands to get plenty of pork to bring home if he just plays hard to get. McCain torpedoed the last Senate bill.
