Anyone who was alive and sentient and living in New York City from the 80's on knows that Trump is an irredeemable asshole. A mean-spirited, petty egomaniac with zero interest in anyone and anything besides himself and making money. The brand he crafted and spread via The Apprentice could fool the rubes that elected him, but real New Yorkers recoiled from him like even his mere mention could give you herpes. Any conversation I ever had with another New Yorker that referenced Trump, however fleetingly, would invariably elicit a scornful snort and a comment along that lines of "fark that asshole" or "who care what that douchebag said".

His toxicity rivals that of the Alien from Alien -- a perfectly craven creature, relentless in his boorishness, untethered by morality, truthfulness or empathy. That history will judge him brutally is small consolation for having to endure him now, but old age coupled with a poor diet and little exercise should make the problem self-correcting sooner than later.

Here's the question: did Wilson vote for Trump?

A lot of Republicans did not want Trump, voted for other people in the primary, knew he was a disaster, etc. But then Trump wound up on top, and they all kissed his ring because they didn't want to piss off the base, or get attacked, etc.

So I'm wondering how many who criticized Trump, and saw right through him...still voted for him because he has an R next to his name.

I have an uncle in Connecticut who is a staunch Republican.  He hates Hillary and Bill with the heat of a thousand suns.  March of '16, he said he would never vote for Hillary, no matter who the Republicans nominated.

"Even Donald Trump?" I asked.
He hesitated for a moment. "OK, even I have my limits"

Good point. I like to think this person would have at least abstained from voting since he was/is so adamantly against Trump, but you never know. There were too many that "felt compelled" to just vote party lines for lack of actual thought.
It seems like this guy actually thinks, so without knowing, I'll give him the benefit of the doubt.

I'd rather the Republican party behaved more like Rick Wilson than Donald Trump.  I'm also certain that I'd fall on opposite sides of most debates with Wilson, but at least he has a brain and you can HAVE a real debate with him or someone like him.  I'd rather have a loyal, intelligent, and well-intentioned opposition than the treasonous, stupid, and mean-spirited nonsense we have now.
