If only we had known how staggeringly ignorant he was BEFORE the election!

In form, this does remind me of my mother's decline through Alzheimer's and dementia. She would have "good" periods (started with about 6 week cycles) and then she'd go off the rails (except she mostly just slept). Toward the end, it got like this. One or two good days (i.e., the meetings with Schumer and Pelosi and the bipartisan tax meeting) then a week of OMGWTFBBQ.

She had dreams/hallucinations that my brother's family was destitute, that she should buy stock in companies that no longer exist, or that she'd heard good things about McDonald's stock. At the "nearly the end," the swing was measured in hours. I suspected she was close when she "woke up" for several days straight and had lucid conversations with many different people.

Others that have been through this know it is sad and painful to watch a vibrant person go this way. We had hidden her car keys from her many, many months before it got that bad, and a hip problem kept her in a wheelchair.*

The difference is that she didn't have control of the nuclear football.

*Her house was at the top of a hill with a steep driveway. I think I've posted before that I half expected "The Call" to be that she had done a Nordberg down the driveway.

But the moment climate change came up, Trump turned on a dime.

Come now, you can't expect the man to remember things he said as long ago as yesterday.

Ah yes, radar tracking of storms back in the 1930s.  Actually, from what I understand the reason why people didn't report bigger winds back then was because often the equipment blew away after 130 mph.

He's proud of being ignorant. Look at how much smarter I am now, and I was already shiat smart.

Article purports to be surprised that a man (if that's the right word) who watches so much TV could not know what a Category 5 hurricane is. Article pretends not to know that the only thing he pays attention to on TV is talk about himself.

Now try to even imagine if President Clinton were asked about Irma, after Irma was over, and she said she was previously unaware that category 5 hurricanes existed. In fact, even if that were the truth, try to imagine her being stupid enough to *say that* after Irma.

Meanwhile, the bar for Trumplestupid is so low that he could trip over the crack left in the ground where it was buried and still the oh-so-liberal media refuses to question his fitness to to use the bathroom unattended, let alone for office.

THIS IS NOT NORMAL. DO NOT LET IT BECOME NORMAL. THE PRESIDENT OF A COUNTRY THAT GETS HIT BY HURRICANES EVERY SINGLE YEAR NOT KNOWING WHAT HURRICANE CATEGORIES ARE, IS NOT NORMAL.

There won't be a category 5 under Trump's new hurricane simplification program.

Better question: how do you own a house in Palm Farking Beach, Florida, and not know everything there is to know about hurricanes?

Naw, the measuring equipment is still breaking at pretty much the same wind speeds as it did in the 20's. Where we have made incredible technological leaps are those metal posts that the weather measuring equipment is attached to. Boy oh boy them things can take a lickin' nowadays eh?

Press:  "Mr President tell us about this hurricane"

Big T:    "Biggest hurricane ever, like, the scientists said, not me, biggest, hugest ever."

Press:  "So does having 2 such massive storms in such a short time frame change your feelings about global warming?"

Big T:    "There have been much larger storms, just look back in history, these really weren't a big deal"

Press:  "But..wait, you just said....aw fark this shiat, I'm going on a 3 year drunk in Thailand"

Isn't it refreshing to have a President who is so human that he can guilelessly admit that he didn't know about something so arbitrary and rare as a category 5 hurricane?  Here's a man who lives by his native wit and his gut, and isn't beholden to any so-called "experts".  He knows it was bad, which is what I know about cat 5's. So he's just like me!  And I'm smart!  My mom always said so!  That means if you insult this man, you're insulting me and MY MOM!  Is it any wonder why everyone (like my mom) hates Libtards so much?

This is one of Trump' s many "I'll pretend like I'm a complete moron to relate to the common man" stupidity that everyone sees through.

Either that, or he actually is just a complete moron who is trying to use the hurricanes to heap more attention on himself.

Thank your dear and fluffy lord that none of his properties were seriously damaged.   Can you imagine that jackass if he got to play the victim in this?

Neither option is particularly appetizing.  My gut says the latter, but I hope for the former.

He then went on to say the Indians just set a new record at 22. That is a YUGE hurricane.

My grandmother is in decline like this. Some days she's great on the phone. Other days not so much. One day she asked my dad if she was dead. Another day she talked about visiting her parent's house but both have been deceased nearly 30 years.  So when others have suggested Trump may be going through this it makes sense with his behavior and why he's keeping family so close.

My heart goes out to both of you. Alzheimers runs strong on my family and I have watched my aunt and grandmother fade away to the point where they did not even know what it meant to sit down. I think the only peaceful thought is you have to imagine that they have no idea what has happened to them.

In fairness to hurricanes, their mechanics actually are quite complicated, and most people probably couldn't produce a simple sketch showing what their winds do in cross-section
