Since when did liberals care about Americans? The average tax paying American can go pound sand because they are all "privilege" and white and racists who like Trump. See, that is how it works.

Why should the laws even matter? Hillary flaunted the laws, broke them and she is going around crying that she lost, but is making a ton of money selling a book about herself being a loser. Senator Menendez, the most corrupt politician in the senate, that is a low bar in itself, sadly, will probably get away with his corruption as well. But he will be easily be re-elected in the next cycle. Rule of law no longer applies, unless you are a hard working white tax paying American, then the rule of law will apply. Indoctrination by the far left starts in kindergarten. To be totally safe, you should homeschool your kids. And, of course, the only textbook you need is the Holy Bible. Daily Bible readings and beatings will make your chirren grow up to be red blooded mericun conservative patriots.

It's amazing.  I went through college as a mostly conservative Republican.  Graduated about a decade ago.  It wasn't until Trump ran for President that the indoctrination from college finally kicked in.

It's simple, really. The best student gets the position. If that best student happens to be a Chinese ex-pat that aced their entrance exams, ESL courses, SATs, and ACTs, well, they'll get the position.

If you notice, it's never someone with a 2400 SAT, 36 ACT, and 4.2GPA in all honors/AP courses that portrays themselves as being hurt by admissions processes. It's always the #MAGAbrained embeciles with low-average scores and a middling extracurricular life complaining how Shaniqua got in and he didn't.
Moral of the story: Don't be dumb. Maybe you won't have issues getting into the schools you want to get into.

Not to change the subject, but 2400 SAT? I'm assuming something changed.

She is not an "illegal". The status that this slur is imputing to her is inaccurate: what is typically meant by branding someone an "illegal" is that they intentionally entered the country without documentation, which is a misdemeanor.

Children (or in this case an infant) can't form intent, so she did not commit an offense when she was brought here. Moreover, the illegal act is entering the country, not remaining in it. So put simply, she never did anything that justifies calling her an "illegal".

Intent doesn't apply to the fact of having entered.

The child might enter without breaking the law if the parent came through an immigration entry point and was let in my immigration agents without the parent willfully misrepresenting material facts. I'm not finding phrasing which seems to cover overstaying a visa without originally intending to do so.
https://www.law.cornell.edu/uscode/text/8/1325

Wrong.  An infant has no "intent."  Their parents made the decision without their input or consent, not could they give it.  So they did not break any laws.  In fact this is the case so they are trying to actually criminalize it because kids cannot be held liable for their parents decision like that.

Oh, but it all doesn't matter.  Illegal immigration is a CIVIL MATTER and not criminal.  So despite its name, is not criminal.

But surely you agree that we should punish the child for the crime the parent committed . . .

Why should you be conflicted? White males have had their own affirmative action from legacy programs and scholarships through outright fark-you discrimination from before there was a country, and I'm sure not a gad-damn one of the people that got ahead by using these methods felt one tiny bit of guilt, remorse, regret or sadness that they were able to get what they got because of the color of their skin or ethnicity.
They probably though they got ahead because that's the way things were supposed to be, and many still think this way... that's why little asswipes like this whiner chose to report this young woman. The entitlement mentality is still strong with people like this guy.

Such small and rare advantages that exist for people of color - still dwarfed the way things have been forever that are mentioned above - have only existed for a little over half my lifetime. I'm old enough to remember when even newspaper want ads for jobs were segregated by race and by sex. Wasn't that long ago.

Damn right people of color should use whatever advantages they can get to get into school... because once in school they still have to do the work and measure up academically. And there should be no guilt or conflict involved what so ever.

Your BIL is experiencing imposter syndrome. It's very common among PhD students and newly minted PhDs. If he's at University of Chicago, it's because he earned it. Being a minority may have given him a nudge into a scarce spot in their PhD program, but he had to clear the hurdle of earning first.

kindms: except you keep ignoring that in the SCOTUS case they never argued that her scores weren't up to snuff. Because they could show that other students with middling scores as you put it WERE accepted. That was the entire argument of the plaintiff. That her scores were as good as other students accepted at the school. The only difference she argued was that RACE was used as a metric to enroll other students instead of her. The school never argued against that point. They merely argued that they had an interest to have a diverse student body. So you are argument is dumb.

And of course it is always going to be students on the edges of enrollment who bring suits As they are the ones that get passed over by an ever shrinking set of criteria.

you are basically arguing against AA. You are saying it should be based on scores and only scores. Which is what the plaintiff in the case was arguing as well. The only difference is you are saying middling scores by minority students is AOK but not for whitey

That's not at all what I'm arguing. I'm saying when it comes to the affairs of the middling, it's very easy to say that someone who was white and went to a private college prep school and graduated with 75th percentile scores is less of a candidate than someone who was black and went to an inner-city school and graduated with 75th percentile scores. The rationality exists that the members of the subjugated racial class have to work harder just to achieve parity in objective scoring metrics, so AA benefits them by saying that their scores are weighted more heavily than the white students.

This is one area where The West Wing nailed it:

"Grading is based on past performance, but admissions should be based on potential, on how a candidate may thrive with this sort of opportunity, and studies show that affirmative action admits have a higher predisposition to contribute to society."

The fact is that the only people butt hurt about AA are those people who don't believe there are systemic disadvantages ingrained in our system that need to be rectified in affirmative action, thus the name.

I want you to go back and look at what you wrote here.

DACA is current US policy. It has been ratified, albeit temporarily, by the current president. So people who are qualified for DACA are actually not subject to deportation; by your own definition they are not "illegal".

Adults who entered this country undocumented entered illegally. DACA recipients did not. That's why they have a protected status. While it is arguable that there must be a change in the laws for DACA to have legal effect, that would have to be raised in the courts which it has not. So as it stands, DACA recipients are lawfully present in the United States.

You didn't get it because you weren't smart enough to get in. Don't point to someone else and say "they took my spot."

Farking Canuck: washington-babylon: Don't blame me for your inability to comprehend complex sentences. One of the common claims made when accusations of leaks broke was that if anything was leaked it was because the information wasn't marked as classified or top secret when the emails were written. Comey said that was proven false by the investigation.

It was a minor infraction that was very common for politicians on both sides of the fence to do at the time. The only reason it was (endlessly) brought up was because republicans were desperate to smear her with anything they could.

Did it need to be corrected? Yes. Was it worthy of some sort of punitive action? Maybe a warning. Did it deserve prison time? Not remotely. There is a reason the FBI didn't pursue it ... all republican fantasies aside, is was not that big of a deal.

No, it didn't deserve prison time. As I have repeatedly stated, Comey was correct when he said that malicious intent could not be proven, which is what was needed for a Treason lawsuit. But standard procedure as required by law when a case like hers happens (which Comey alluded to in his official release) is to revoke clearance, and fire the person who leaked. They then can legally appeal to be granted clearance again. Depending on the seriousness of their leak, they may then be permitted to gain clearance again, or may be barred from gaining clearance again. This did not happen with Clinton or her staff, and still has not happened. Because of her political clout, standard legal procedure has not been followed. I also do not make excuses for any other politicians. I think that all of them should be investigated and held accountable for leaking classified and top secret information the exact same way any other government employee would.

The difference here is that I can bring up quite a few examples of prospective students being told - out loud and in public, by elected officials no less - that they cannot attend a school because they are not white.
I have yet to see the reverse. If you have links to this, I would like to see them.
And this is not about telling white people - who also happen to have been at the top of the historical, financial and cultural food chain in this country since before its inception that "they cannot attend" anywhere.

Imagine a line of people waiting to get into an auditorium. Before, all the people in that line would be white, with people of color not even being allowed to get in the line at all.
Later they were allowed to get in line but always at the back, with white people allowed to cut in ahead of them until the number of seats had been reached and again they could not get in.
Now that an effort is made to put people of color in the line so that they can get in, the white people at the end that exceed the number of seats complain that they should have gotten in anyway.

There's a sense of entitlement that still pervades these peoples psyches, to the point where some of them join neo-nazi groups and parade down streets with torches. They believe they should have simply because they have always had, like their fathers and their fathers before them.

So the question is this: where where these white people and their pleas for fairness when the first two scenarios were in play? Were they concerned that the people of color could not join the line? Were they fighting for the rights of the people of color that got pushed to the back of the line? The answer is "They were nowhere". As long as these people had the advantages they desired ...

given 1 opening and 2 students, one white and one non-white but otherwise identical, affirmative action denies entrance to the white student because they are white. That is wrong, no more or less than denying entrance to the non-white student because they are non-white. You can write paragraph after paragraph but it's pretty straightforward.

First off, it only matters when certain morons try to pretend that "Hillary did nothing wrong, ergo there actually was a valid choice that wasn't bad last election". Second, Clinton didn't "potentially" leak information to unauthorized parties. It was conclusively proven by the FBI and admitted by James Comey that unauthorized parties did receive classified and top secret information. Or did you conveniently forget the Weiner email evidence? To claim otherwise shows you are either astoundingly ignorant and need to educate yourself, or are just lying and hoping that no one calls you out on it. What wasn't found by Comey (and he was absolutely correct) was malicious intent, which is what is required to bring a successful Treason lawsuit. But that does not mean that she did not break the law.

Thirdly, I did not vote for Trump or Hillary, as neither one should have been valid candidates in my opinion (but that's just.. like... my opinion, man). I was and am thoroughly disgusted by the state of the US 2 party system, and cannot in good conscience support the shiatshow it has become. When our choices became a geriatric old orange bastard who's obviously suffering dementia and whose greatest claim to fame is a TV show, and a geriatric old elitist banker backer who has blatantly broken the law repeatedly, we should have demanded something else as a people. Instead, people like you argued that we should have voted for the candidate YOU perceived to be the lesser of two evils. Meanwhile, the republicans were saying the exact same thing.  You and the Donald voters both are guilty of leading us to where we are today by supporting a system where "Perceived lesser of two ginormous evils" is somehow a valid goddamn choice.

So if you want to blame someone for Donald getting elected, just look in a farkin' mirror. Maybe you'll realize where your head is stuck and remove it in time to offer a candidate up in the next election that isn't an unelectable steaming pile of scandals. Hell, if either party can put up a candidate that will show they have learned their lesson, I may vote again for one of them. But until then, fark that noise.

Oh yea, don't forget to report the $800 you made on the side, or we will come after you like a thousand angry gods, ok peon?

What laws did Hillary "flaunt"?

Back to pretending saint Hillary did nothing wrong, huh? You may want to get that selective memory checked out. By James Comey's own admission, the claim that Hillary leaked classified and top secret documents and information properly marked as such at the time of authorship of the emails was validated. Comey also said that he did not recommend prosecution for treason, because that would require proof of malicious intent- something he says he could not conclusively provide. He also admitted:

"To be clear, this is not to suggest that in similar circumstances, a person who engaged in this activity would face no consequences. To the contrary, those individuals are often subject to security or administrative sanctions."

Having worked as a government contractor holding a security clearance, I can tell you what he was referring to. I was briefed that any spillage of classified or top secret data (the official name for an unintentional leak) was sufficient grounds for revoking my security clearance, although actual revocation was subject to a review process. Regardless whether or not my clearance was revoked, my contract would be terminated and dependent on the outcome of my review, I may be prevented from working as a government contractor in the future for jobs requiring a clearance. Naturally this scared me badly enough that I never once spilled data and became paranoid about making sure my co-workers didn't either.

What Comey was referring to was that a different person in similar circumstances to Hillary would have got herself fired, her security clearance revoked, and probably prevented from working in a secure environment again unless she could successfully appeal getting her clearance revoked. This obviously did not happen, despite there being plenty of precedent not that long ago with general Petraeus. Furthermore, Clinton and Clinton staffers actually still had clearance as recently as June. This is made even more surprising by lawyers saying in the press that a client would have been seriously at risk of losing their clearances in the same circumstances as Hillary over a year ago. So given all this, you sure you still want to pretend Hillary hasn't flaunted the law?

/Don't get me wrong, D2S should never have been an option for president.
//And the second he does something actually illegal, he should be impeached.
///But I don't try to pretend the other option wasn't guilty because I hate D2S.

Good luck with that. People always come up with new ways to be horrible to each other every day and it always gets worse.

In this case, expect the DACA classmate to get picked up by ICE and kept in a prison while they figure out the logistics of deporting him and everyone else they want to. And while they're there, they're put to work to offset the cost of housing them, and ICE never actually gets around to actually deporting the ones who are able bodied. Imagine that.

Mutually exclusive states.

Illegal means you can be deported. DACA said here sign up every 2 years and you can work and we wont deport you even though you are here illegally.
No laws where changed ensuring legal status, you are still here illegally and at anytime DACA could be revoked or your application ( every 2 years)  denied then you will be deported

So according to your logic if my parents take me into Disney illegally I am allowed to stay and ride rides because the guards are ignoring my presence ?

They were here illegally and an avenue was created for them to gain legal status with a temporary stay on the deportation process. They werent suddenly legal immigrants they were in limbo.

its a mess and needs fixed permanently

Yeah, move those goalposts.

If your parents snuck you into Disney and you got caught, would you as the child be charged with trespassing?  No, your parents would.

It's not black and white, and yes it does need to get fixed.  The problem is that people who were brought here illegally as children and grew up as Americans don't know their home country.  Sending them back would be like you being sent back because your forefathers entered illegally.  Don't know where you're from, but getting sent back to Germany for me would be rather difficult.

And illegal immigration isn't a crime.  It's been held up by SCOTUS.  Is a civil matter.  So they're not criminals.

Personally we should fix the immigration system, and make penalties for the parents who do bring kids in illegally, but at the same time not make the immigration system a convoluted nightmare so people wouldn't feel the need to enter illegally.  At the same time we shouldn't punish the kids of these people who know no other country then the US.

Actually, it just needs the employment status of the people arriving at that conclusion terminated.  If the girl was covered under DACA, her status was not in question--that literally was the governments determination.

Agreed. The University board should have known that her status meant that she was not here illegally, and that Taylor's post was factually wrong and potentially legally actionable.

My only worry (beyond her continued harassment wtf horrible people) is that if our President renders DREAMer status illegal, she becomes a high-visibility target for deportation.

This. It's also a good argument for taking socioeconomic status into account when comparing student test scores in the admissions process, which is what more universities are moving to, especially in states that have banned race based affirmative action in admissions. Too lazy to track it down right now, but there's some research now indicating that a college student with, for example, test scores in the 95th percentile who's from a poor neighborhood usually outperforms a student with similar test scores from a wealthy area.  The poor kid who does well despite shiatty opportunities tends to do really well when their opportunities are improved by getting into a good college.

Plus colleges have a point when they say that a diverse student body has value in and of itself. Many businesses have realized this too. Different socioeconomic backgrounds. Difference races. Different nationalities. etc. They bring different perspectives to the table and that's good for education.

Hardly fair to bash Trump fro trying to bring an end to the situation, which he is only doing because he is under threat of a lawsuit from other states. You should be mad at Obama for creating situation and congress for perpetuating it instead of changing the laws to accommodate these people.

Infinite renewals on a work visa is still a legal status.

An unenviable one in many ways, but legal nonetheless.

Which makes you legal for two years.

My friend came to Japan legally, earned a PhD from Japan's top university, is married to a Japanese citizen, and publishes academic research in Japanese frequently. Still, they have get that work visa renewed every single year.

So, if you think a two year work visa is the same as being illegal, you're just plain wrong.

Illegal means you can be deported. DACA said here sign up every 2 years and you can work and we wont deport you even though you are here illegally.

No laws where changed ensuring legal status, you are still here illegally and at anytime DACA could be revoked or your application ( every 2 years)  denied then you will be deported

And the thought of that makes you happy? Why?

Who is "he"?

Being against illegal immigration is NOT RACISM.  Certainly there is overlap in the Venn diagram of People That Are Racist vs. People That Are Against Illegal Immigration, but A =/= B.

Lucky LaRue: You have to wonder how many tax-paying American parents can't get their kids into schools like this because of the seats taken up by illegal alien students.

Yeah, you would wonder that, if you have no comprehension of how Scholarships, Grants, DACA, and other such educational funding programs work, which obviously you don't.  The rest of us know better than to wonder.

Maybe they should have got better grades and had a higher propensity for achievement than the illegal alien students?

I'm not normally given to finding someone in real life and cockpunching them for something they said online, but young Taylor desperately needs a cockpunch.

The University board responsible deserves a course of cockpunches as well for suggesting that young Taylor's hateful statement was merely "a recommendation about how to respond to [Garcia's] undocumented status".

On top of that, the point of DACA was to give them Visas as long as they were productive members of society.  So as of right now, and when this went down, she is here legally for the time being

So this douchenozzle's base argument is invalid.

It's always the #MAGAbrained embeciles with low-average scores and a middling extracurricular life complaining how Shaniqua got in and he didn't.

<sarcasm>It's all about personal responsibility with these types.</sarcasm>

That's what these whiny white males do all the time... it's never because they don't measure up, that they didn't work hard enough or that they were dumber than a bag of rusty hammers. It's always someone else's fault that these inbreds didn't get the job or didn't get the scholarship or weren't admitted to a school or whatever the cause for their failures in life. They wallow in the cesspool of their own stupidity, reinforced by a conservative media that tells them exactly who to hate for their farked up lives, morphing into lifelong republicans.

Farking sad.

Oh yea, don't forget to report the $800 you made on the side, or we will come after you like a thousand angry gods, ok peon?

Says the guy who supports an admitted sexual predator for President.  Guess those kinds of laws don't matter, amiright?
