This is probably the scariest US/Foreign relations news story I've read all year.  And that includes North Korean stories.

I'm convinced that democracy will last.  Even if we slip into tetrarchy for a while, most of the successor states will be democratic.

In the United States:
Russia should use its special services within the borders of the United States to fuel instability and separatism, for instance, provoke "Afro-American racists". Russia should "introduce geopolitical disorder into internal American activity, encouraging all kinds of separatism and ethnic, social and racial conflicts, actively supporting all dissident movements - extremist, racist, and sectarian groups, thus destabilizing internal political processes in the U.S. It would also make sense simultaneously to support isolationist tendencies in American politics."

And it also convinces me that the famous "antifa" attack at Berkeley--the one where the protesters showed up in unison (like the Nazis at Charlottesville), dressed alike (like the Nazis at Charlottesville), were issued gear (like the Nazis at Charlottesville) and marched into the fray in lockstep (like the Nazis at Charlottesville)--probably was organized with the help of Pooty Poot the Murderous Dictator.

Blubbering Nazis who claiming to have been joking probably didn't have the financial resources, the organization and the dudes to put a false flag operation together.

One question though. Is it a false flag if you're playing both sides?

Well, I'm certainly not going to argue that. :)

But if it was previously a Super Soaker, the FSB took it, filled it with gasoline, and attached a lit Zippo to the end of it.

Markoff, you're named after a fictional character who despised any form of governmental trimmings.  I'd have thought you'd be the first one celebrating the loss of faith in democracy.

Don't you understand what an opportunity this is for us?  We've finally found a minority we can persecute without impunity or guilt with these Trumpist gits.  And it's not they can hide behind their polls and alternative facts.  This ain't 1984, man.  We have learned to be cynical, and thus we can realize what is propaganda and what is fact.  You only lose if you LET the ignorant run circles around you.

The Russians want to come in and make us eat borscht?   They want to play puppets?  Kinda hard when you can see the strings.  We live in an age where information is now a resource, not a privelage, and Eris help you if to try to block that flow.

Oh don't worry, it's pretty much all been fed by Russian front groups.

2017-09-13 08:14:46 PM
The republicans groomed an entire set of slobbering morons with ridiculous propaganda like Fox News and Breitbart, training millions of already dim-witted people to distrust facts and gather information only from proven sources of misinformation.

The Russians one-upped the billion dollar republican psyops campaign and stole the entire base right out from under them with little more than a couple of Facebook accounts and some ad money.

Jackasses. Jackasses everywhere.

2017-09-13 08:16:57 PM
FOX News should be a little worried that Russia has taken over as the GOP propaganda machine.

2017-09-13 08:17:06 PM
This is better than plain old vanilla traditional Black Propaganda which can happen in plain sight. This is done so the only people who see it are the people targeted to see it. No apparent disguise is needed; the delivery is the disguise.   It doesn't even have to be peppered with code words or beating around the bush. And it's cheap.

It really should be taught in every media marketing class as an example of how to do it right. Perhaps, when Pam Geller, Steven Miller, Steven Bannon, Jeff Sessions, Roger Stone, Mike Flynn and the rest of the crowd are out doing community service as a condition of parole, they can entertain with how separated they thought they were from being caught participating in the process.

Which is why, even though I have a Facebook account, I pay little or no attention to the crap people post and repost on Facebook.  I cannot understand how people can merely pass along things without checking them out.  If you are on Facebook then you have access to the internet, meaning that often within minutes you can check the veracity of a story.  They take advantage of the morons much like our illustrious President has taken advantage of them.  And all Facebook cares about is making money.  They can't be bothered with checking out who is posting these stories and the accuracy of the stories.  meanwhile, in an attempt at discouraging fake news, Google has stymied legitimate sources of opinion from their search engine.

A little bird tells me the Brits will figure out that the anti-Muslim Brexit voter was not left out. That it wasn't just big bus graphics showing a line of "Immigrants," many with brown faces, representing EU migrants from Poland wanting a better life in Manchester.

They have figured out that Equifax held a lot of Brit names and numbers, too. Quite a lot.

Yeah, no shiat.

The saddest/most outrageous part about all of this isn't that Russia was meddling.  OF COURSE they will try it.  This is not a surprise.

No, the shiatty part is that so many Americans fell for it.  Lapped it up like hungry dogs, because it justified their personal shiat-ass world view.

This immigration thing is so effed up. I had to block a former coworker on Facebook because she argued with me saying racism in the US isn't a big deal and that DACA's all have criminal records.

1) my husband looks like Osama bin Laden. I know there's a huge racism problem and it's gotten worse since Trump. (Not to mention, I'm not socially Ignorant and know that's been a huge problem here since forever.)
2) I've worked DACA cases while at USCIS and they don't have criminal records if they were granted that status.
3) and most importantly she's a supervisor at the Nebraska Service Center (which is one of the major places where immigration applications and petitions are adjudicated, focusing especially DACA and employment based green cards.) She heads a team of adjudications officers. She's known as being uber conservative, but its to the point where i know it's clouding her judgment. Any case she's denied should be reviewed. And she's not the only one who's like that.
