I have to admit, I'm having trouble summing up 'outrage' with the basic fact of life that arseholes (both buyers and sellers of that crap) are gonna arsehole.

There's only supply because there's demand.

Everyone that gets upset about this kind of stuff needs to sit down, shut the fark up, and think very long and hard about why they're such easily-upset delicate cupcakes.

Well, it's kind of an issue when the folks buying the Nazi costumes are wearing them on days other than Halloween.

How long until the "parent surprised people are upset that she dressed her kid in blackface" article?

Seriously, how, how at this point don't people recognize that "maybe you don't need the blackface makeup" to go as the character.

I bet there are far more people who do it for a goof than to piss people off.  Intent is everything but who cares when I can tell them what their intentions are and feel morally superior.

Going for a big wizard here:
At some point, we are going to get an article about how people are boycotting candy corn because upside down it looks like Trump. The article will be based on 5 people's writings on twitter, one of which is a rambling response. The article itself will be quoting those twitter statements followed by posting an actual picture of the tweet. My guess, it shows up on Yahoo.

I don't know, my cynicism is high enough today and we just had a fark thread about those type of bullshiat outrage articles (i.e. huge people outraged=we found 4 people on twitter) so this just seemed like the perfect storm idea for an October article that will show up on Fark.

Most also can't fit in a regular sized Nazi uniform.

I once worked overnight at a Wal-Mart.  We would get Christmas displays in August.

On the one hand I think people go way too far to find offense with halloween costumes but on the other I know there are going to be a lot of douchebags in SS uniforms this year so I'm not sure how I feel about this subject....

I'd say this is actually an improvement over the usual assortment of pregnant Hillbilly and nine-year old stripper costumes.

Trump costumes are one thing; the man is a clown.

But wearing another culture's religious clothing and calling it a costume is fundamentally f*cked up.

And of course I think we can all agree that Nazi regalia is in pretty poor taste this year.

A "David S. Pumpkins" costume would be pretty cool, but hard to explain.

2017-09-13 02:56:46 PM
And the comments section of the article is about how liberals get offended easily... Or about how liberals are terrorists.  Lovely.

You know what is fun?  I haven't seen any liberal news sources talking about how people dislike these costumes (though they are shiat) so this mostly seems like a conservative rag, pointing to things that are trash, and then complaining that people are complaining about them.

I disagree completely.  That, like any other respect for religion type rule, is extremely arbitrary.  Firstly what constitutes 'a religion'? Would wearing a colander on your head be 'fundamentally farked up'?  The church of the flying spaghetti monster is no less valid than any other religion.

What about dressing as a Jedi? That's both a movie character and a religion.

Greek or roman gods and myths?
Thor?
Buddha?
A nun?

Who decides which fairy tales need to be respected and which are OK to use?

Obviously if they are disadvantaged by the western hegemon they are off limits.
