Ouch. I'm one of those. I'm thinking we're getting lucky with the sheer amount of incompetency from this bunch of state reps.

Good, they should be running more Dems in local races.  Far too many don't run or don't support local dem candidates.

The Norman House seat was previously held by Scott Martin, who left the Legislature to run the Norman Chamber of Commerce.

Wow. So managing a local Chamber of Commerce is considered an upgrade from being on the state legislature in Oklahoma? That says a lot about that state.

It means the Democrats should have been pushing for this a long time ago.  Also, Trump is destroying the Republicans' foothold something fierce and is the Democrats' best friend for major pickups in 2018 and 2020.

Trump has become Dubya 2, only this time we went right to 2006 instead of 2002.

I hope this continues. Things are bad at the national level, but they've been bad on the local level for a long time. We basically have evangelicals writing our laws here in KY. And more attention needs to be paid to how many governorships the GOP has - the thought of a constitutional convention sis terrifying. Do we want the handmaid's tale? Because that's how we get the handmaid's tale.

Ummm. Ralph Shortey got busted with an underage male in a hotel (kid was prostituting himself out) and just got federal charges for underage porn and will likely die in prison.

He was with the republican state leadership.

Kris Kobach has already proved that people who might possibly not live in New Hampshire might have voted in the election so that result is clearly invalid.

Trump's current approval ratings will historically drag the entire party down, and his are historically low.
I hope the momentum maintains, but things will get interesting with him working with Democrats to actually try to get shiat done, that is going to be a wild card based on how his party reacts/splits between moderates and the Trump base.
Once more moderates start looking at the prospect of losing their jobs things will get interesting, and these are some good leading indicators.

I don't care how low his approval numbers are. No matter how unpopular he is or what crazy shiat he does and says, they will ALL vote for him again. ALL republicans will fall in line because as bad as he is, he's still not 'Democrat X.' We have to think of the precious unborn and all that. They will find an excuse to sell their souls again.

A special election. Well, it's better than nothing, I guess.

And BTW, thanks, Democrats, for the turnout, shiatty though it was. If we can manage that during an actual election (ie, for a full term), we might have something.

But this is the kind of thing I'm always biatching about us needing, people to turn out more than once every 4 years. So I will take it.
