its worth pointing out that this man co-sponsored the Healthy Americans Act in 2007 which was almost identical to the ACA (obamacare), including the mandate and the exchanges.

He was one of a few others (including Lindsey Graham,) who would go on to decry the ACA as unconstitutional.

In other words, as soon as Obama supported a law like this man co-cosponsored, he decided the law was unconstitutional.

And for all the cries about government take over of healthcare, the Healthy Americans act would have had Americans who signed up for healthcare through the exchanges would have paid their monthly premiums through the government who would then pay the insurers
.
So,the healthy Americans act, that Corker co-sponsored, had more government.

Max Baccus came out yesterday saying america is ready for single payer and I almost screamed.

Exactly what Trump wants, so he can claim he made some swamp water evaporate.

The very best swamp water.

Corkers comments about Trump on the video clip were stilted, constrained and disjointed.
His face shows calmness, but inside I hope he was screaming.

So he's now 5 GOPers who have decided not to run for re-election in 2018? (Rep. Trott (R-MI) is also out too)

Looks like the rumors that more are jumping ship are panning out there.

I think Corker is the first Senator, though.

Also, if he doesn't re-run, the seat will probably go to a GOPer, but there is a tiny chance of a Dem. In his first run, Corker upped Harold Ford, but needed some good old fashioned dog whistles to do so. In 2012, much of the Democratic leadership was urging Dems to write in a candidate rather than vote for the guy on the Dem ticket (Corker crushed him, very handily).

Corker is a garbage human being, but comparing him to the rest of the Republican caucus, he's not half-bad.

I hope he resigns and/or is exiled and either a Democrat or a more-extreme-wacko Republican gets his seat.

I think the only reason he would consider retirement is that he thinks the Democrats will recapture the senate and he will lose his Chairmanship.

Any chance this is a sign that the Mueller investigation is going to give the GOP a haircut down to their kneecaps?

Of course, because Americans are essentially retarded, the party'll just regenerate and keep coming for our lives.

Bob Corker is one of the most ambitious politicians I've ever seen, and I've watched him for a long time.
For him to decide it's over means something truly savage is about to happen in Washington and he wants to be far, far away from it.

I don't think it's over for him, think there's at least a slight chance that he's eyeballing a presidential run.
