FTFA: "The Great House had to be rebuilt after a large fire hit the property and now it looks like it will have to be rebuilt again following the hurricane"

So after the next great house catches fire, gets hit by a storm and falls over into the swamp - then the next one after that will be the strongest great house in the Caribbean?

Hey! We like Branson. He's a good guy with money.

Well, he can live in one of his thousand other properties while this is getting rebuilt. But thanks for the updates.

Oh, I have nothing personal against the fellow. Way I see it, sounds like nobody was hurt and he can certainly afford to replace everything. I'm just not shedding any tears for him, that's all. The sour grapes (yeah, my bad) I blame on the coffee not kicking in yet.

I'm more interested to see the effects on Cuba as it took the hit for the US instead of Florida getting hit with a Cat5.

I'm not sure which I find funnier, the guy who knee-jerk trashed a rich guy or that the hive-mind corrected him for it.

Not to mention spending the day in Branson's wine cellar.

He brought in everyone on the island and kept them safe in his wine cellar.

And I'm certainly not getting any "woe is me" vibe from him. He seems more sorry about the rest of the island and how it affected everyone living there.

So your crocodile tears are misplaced, methinks.

I imagine when he rebuilds - the third house he'll now have built on that spot - there's going to be a lot more concrete involved in the structure. Maybe some steel shutters to cover the windows and doorways too. I wouldn't build 3 times there without the 3rd try being built like a goddamned bunker.

Looks like he needs to install reinforced exterior windows and doors,   at least the the ones which latch on all 4 sides of the door

He's already started using his yacht to supply goods to other islands, so good on him.  Not too sure if he can force Virgin airlines to do the same but he seems more involved in helping other people than that asshole Mike Dell in Texas.

The text was correct that everyone was doing well was correct. If you interrupted that to mean that the house was fine, you're an idiot.

Good, now that he needs to rebuild, he can do so more cost effectively by working with local governments and contractors to bring in supplies and labor to help in the overall recovery effort and spread some love and good will in the process

Mike Dell that is donating up to $36,000,000 for Harvey relief?  Am I missing something, or is this just sarcasm?  So hard to tell these days.

Out of all of the stories you could tell about people in the Caribbean affected by the hurricane, it takes a special kind of tone deafness to focus on the tourist billionaire.

Not as ugly as waiting to find out if your family members are effectively homeless. I know it's fun to judge, but there's no jealousy here. Guy didn't lose anything that can't be replaced with what amounts to pocket change for him. Good on him for sheltering people, but excuse me if I don't have any sympathy for Richard Branson at this time. Doesn't mean I have any ill will toward the man.

Envy.
Envy is when you have negative feelings because someone else possesses something.
Jealousy is when you have negative feelings due to the fear of losing something you possess.

Same thing for me...  I just feel that when you got money and have a house along the ocean, there are a few things you need to know and this is one of them.  That ocean can get mean.

I don't know. Posting boo-farkin-who when a man loses his house and many prized possessions just because he is rich enough to rebuild sure sounds like jealousy.

Do you say boo-farkin-who to all the regular folks who have flood insurance?

Pretty sure it's jealousy despite your protest.
