3rd and goal with 93 yards to go.  I only ever saw this in NFL Blitz when the first downs were turned off.

Control the ball.  Then run.

Mississippi State tried to get that thing down to their end zone, I grant them that.  But let the great sages of yesteryear show us the proper way to fumble a ball forward:

That's one way to get the ball down the field.

Just pick it up and run it.  Even if you're a fatso lineman and get tackled 3 steps later, at least your team still has the ball.  By "fumbling" it downfield, you leave a chance for the other team to recover (which they did), and then, anything can happen.  They could still score, or at best, as in this case, they punt and you lose a bunch of that yardage anyway.

All that needed was a defensive holding on the 3rd and 93 to give them a first down and another chance to drive down the field.

If my HS coach was on the Mississippi State staff, every one of those defenders would be doing a country mile outside the stadium, don't care if the game is still going on.

Their nose tackle ran one back for a TD.  They were trying (foolishly, yes) to make the highlight reel as well.

You fall on the ball and make sure a knee is down.  Save being a hero for when you're hungry for a sandwich.

Not sure that's great advice considering guys tried to do that and couldn't.

I mean we only see people trying and failing to pick up a bouncing oblate spheroid every single weekend for 20 weeks of the year.
