End result: nothing resolved diplomatically, but Dumpy has two new hotels.
/ At least until the bombs flatten them.
// I suspect both will be heavily insured for just such an occasion.

I couldnt even type for a few minutes because I was laughing so hard.

He wants a Nobel Peace Prize because Obama got one.

Send Jared to convey Bibi's policy action requirements to the Emirs. I mean duh, right?

Painting it gold and renaming the Persian Trump won't solve the crisis, though the wall idea has some appeal.

The worst he could do is match what every other guy has done, save Carter.

The Saudis only pulled this shiat because Trump appeared inclined to let them.  How long was AF1 wheels up out of Saudi before the curtain came down on Qatar?

Well, there's a good chance that the nations of the Middle East will unite in a spirit of a common brotherhood to laugh in the face of Lord Dampnut.

So... that's gotta count for something, right?

You only send Jared when you want to remain silent on an issue.

"Trump said he supported Sheikh Sabah Al Ahmad Al Sabah's mediation efforts, but if that did not manage to resolve the Gulf crisis, he would be "willing to be a mediator".

In other words get your shait together or he's gonna really fark things up.

Qatar, Saudi Arabia, the United Arab Emirates, Bahrain and Egypt are all essential US partners in this effort. We have great relationships with all of them right now, maybe better than we've ever had.

I think our relations with Qatar were a lot better before you ignorantly threw them under the bus in front of the whole world.

Dear President Le Petomane Trump,

STOP TRYING TO DO THINGS. It has been conclusively proven, by grey-bearded white male evangelical MAGA scientists using slide rules, that you are no good at things. Stick to what you are good at. Grifting, cheating at golf, staring at your reflection in ponds until you die, stuff like that. Things are not your thing.

Signed,

You've already fondled the orb, and dropped the ball. No thanks, Donny.

I say, let Trump try, anyway.  We know that, as a businessman, he's had a number of accomplishments:  Four bankruptcies, alienating every major American bank and financial institution and (my favorite) Trump Vodka.  Put him into a room with all the interested parties and I can see them coming to an agreement just to end the monotony of that loud, wet and grating voice of his...

2017-09-08 11:28:42 AM
Wait, didn't Trumpy Von FarkStick actually fan the flames of that issue just a few months ago (fark, it seems like years). I don't think anyone in their right mind would want Trumpian help...

2017-09-08 11:31:31 AM
How the hell would someone on the far end of a spectrum help to mediate?

2017-09-08 11:31:34 AM
I've seen headlines about how Ted Cruz stated that Trump would side with Pelosi and Dems to pass legislation.  I think it's funny that someone's trying to make the zodiac killer, an illegal immigrant who's the son of JFK's assassin, relevant again.

Although I am enjoying the media tweaking Trump over this (particularly the first line of this Politico article), I can't help but think its not very helpful for Democrats in the long term.

That said, as of now, he is thrilled with the coverage

Sheikh Sabah: "You can talk to me now, or you can talk to Trump later. Up to you."

Middle East: "OK, what do we need to do to settle this thing right now?"

I noticed this in the press conference too. Stop trying to convince yourself that you are good at negotiating. You are awful. go cheat at golf for a while and leave us all alone.

When someone tells him there are problems in the Middle East, Trump probably thinks that North Carolina and South Carolina are going at it.

2017-09-08 11:40:05 AM
Haven't we wreaked enough havoc in that region?

2017-09-08 11:40:48 AM
If Trump were smart (hah!) he would ask Obama to mediate.  And Obama would probably pull it off very well.  But Trump is more likely to fark it up himself or send Sheriff Clarke.  The neural pathways to even consider asking Obama for a favor simply don't exist.

How difficult could it be?

I was past being amused by it the moment it started.  It's not funny, and for the Republican-led mainstream it's a transparent campaign.  The plan is simple; make Trump a "seekrit Dumbocrat" before the (hoped for, maybe-not-coming) pendulum swing where America finally realizes he's a racist, sexist psychopath and possibly the most corrupt politician ever.

They're trying to pretend he's not the embodiment of Republican Values, and I won't have it.

nijika: I thought Jared was going to take care of that after he comes back from his Starbucks run.  Did his afternoon get too busy?

They told him to go get some Starbucks, so he's been trying to buy all the Starbucks locations near the White House.  But he has to square the loan with some Russians at a bank in Cyprus, first.  Plus there's all those lawyers he has to talk to, and he can't really do anything after sundown tonight.  He's been kind of busy.

When Republican legislators even from Texas are trying to fark over the Hurricane victims, I think Democrats were wise to work with Trump now while the victim need is greatest. Who knows if Trump will ever be cooperative again in his life.

The messed up thing about our President's almost Pavlovian behavior patterns is that they could actually be harnessed to get something worthwhile done.  It still leaves a bad taste in my brain, though.
