Hey, watch out Creston Community High School administrators, those are Steve King's constituents you're denying the Free Speech rights of.

The coach actually seems to get it. Kicked them off and is clearly torn up that they did it.

I hope this follows these kids for a long time.

Having formerly gone to school about 20 miles south of this town I wish I could say I was surprised. There were certain establishments in the area that we explicitly warned our minority students not to visit if they didn't want to cause a scene.

The KKK was still having public meetings at local businesses there up until the 90s.

In my hometown high school, they will drug test student athletes (and anyone who participates in, well, ANY extracurricular activities - including band... you need to pee in a cup to participate in the band), but the drug test are NOT for PEDs and such things.

Cancel the season and expel the idiots. That's what would have happened to any team at any of the schools I went to from 1st grade through college if a bunch of idiots did even a fraction of the crap described in TFA. The coach would also have been fired on the spot.

Apparently I deleted part of the comment, which was about how this kind of behavior is a hell of a lot more reflective upon a school than a kid doing a J on Saturday night, and how it should be that much more unacceptable. Schools should have some focus on what is happening with their extracurricular activity participants, but not what they smoke and not necessarily what they post on Facebook... but, THIS is too much. These kids should be off the team, and I'm glad that they are.

Northern students aren't being taught the heroism of their Union ancestors, and that needs to change.

But yeah, most will get real manly American jobs like driving a forklift at Walmart for $11.50 an hour (after they work up to it of course).

Unfortunately, even though they will vote against it, they will be forced supplement Walmart's low wages with SNAP benefits paid for by the libturds taxes from the east and west coasts.

The incident happened off campus outside of school and practice hours. The coach had nothing to do with it and didn't learn about it until after the fact, like everyone else. Then he booted the dipshiats off the team, which is all he has the authority to do. Expulsion would have to be an action taken by the school administration.

Why exactly should the coach be fired?

I think this, right here, puts paid to the "heritage, not hate" crap about the flag of treason.

The boys learned this stuff at home, from their parents. Parents who, odds are, were descended from Union soldiers (if not more recent immigrants). It's no part of their heritage. None at all. Kind of the opposite, in fact. So ... it's hate, not heritage. Especially in conjunction with the cross and hoods and all.

I mean, it's odd how "extracurricular activities we would otherwise never know about" trumps "things that are posted on the internet so they are obvious" to these institutions. You'd think people would catch wind of that.

That's kind-of a theme with my posts, as you may come to find out. Since you're apparently rather new to this place.

I've known exactly one of these exurban redneck kids who flew the confederate flag via decal on the back of his truck.

Robert Byrd at least renounced, and repeatedly apologized for, his KKK involvement and absolutely abhorrent racist statements. He spent literally decades apologizing over and over again, and his actions back him up -- he put his Senate vote where his mouth was.

On the other hand, everydamnthing in this state is named for Strom "Statutory Rapist" Thurmond. The guy who fathered a child with a 15-year-old housemaid when he was 22. Now he was a dyed-in-the-wool racist, so you can be pretty sure there was no "love" involved in the fathering of that child -- just simple flat-out coercion. The same people who call Muhammed a pedophile because he (may have) contracted a marriage with a prepubescent girl, which I might point out not only happened in western Europe during the middle ages (hell, children were sometimes betrothed before they were even born) but is still going on today, have named everything from schools to a lake for the guy.

From where I live, you go west on Jefferson Davis Highway, north on 230, and west on 23, to get to Lake Strom Thurmond.

I don't want to live in this state anymore. Oh, wait, I never did.

According to google maps, I found your sense of humor in Turkmenistan, you might want it back.

Regardless, my point still stands, if they were varsity players (with a future, winkwink), they'd no be gettin cut. They were useless expendables so it was an easy cut even if they would have remained on the team during the normal season: passing out water bottles, collecting gear and prepping sophomores for anal hazing.
