I'm having a hard time with all of these "news about Russia and Trump ties" that keep coming up when Adam Khan and others were reporting them during the GD campaign. Felix Sater is a long time Trump associate and his shady as all fark Russian mob connections are nothing new.  So yippee with your "And now a new McClatchy investigation..." but were was this reporting a year and a half ago, intrepid journalists?  It sure wasn't on the front page of the NYT everyday like some other story that's been mentioned to death.

I'm not entirely sure. I would think they'd drop today ahead of the storm coverage.

Well, Trump said he pardoned Arpaio when he did because of "Yuge" hurricane TV ratings, so we'll see I guess.

I'm thinking it's part three of the facebook story. Part one being that Facebook admitted it (yesterday). Part two was them turning over everything they have on the ad buy and the Russian firm to Mueller (this morning). So presumably Part three would be Kushner went to Russia to work with the troll farm

Well, the media (aside from Fox and the other GOP propaganda outlets) figured Hillary would win, and wanted a horse race. Besides, Bill's BJ made for good ratings, so they were hoping to 'scoop' the next big Clinton scandal.

The name 'Clinton', after all, triggers a visceral reaction in certain segments of the populace, because they've been conditioned that way.

He was trying to sneak the Arpaio pardon while no one was watching. People don't watch TV on Friday night.
This weekend, there is high school football and "It" is opening, which is expected to break September box-office records.
TV Ratings are going to be pretty low for any places not in Irma's path, and those folks in Irma's path will only be interested in weather coverage.

Difference in the levels of veracity that old media needs versus new media needs.

And it needs to be spoon Fed to John and Jane Q. Public, who have a seemingly endless ability to not be able to connect 2 dots together, let alone a fairly complex conspiracy.

I think the thing Palmer's detractors hate most of that he's been two to six months ahead of the MSM on major developments.  I can't help but feel that perhaps the next behind the networks are slow-playing the Trump-Russia scandal for a reason... A reason that is in their better interests, but most certainly not ours.

The major networks are owned by men that fear they'll be held accountable for their actions by the common man... And they've decided we can't have nice things because of it.

Hillary was a sure bet to win so they needed to exert all of there efforts on discussing her email scandal which we knew was going to be investigated by congress for at least nine more years.  That is unless Trump was within four hours of a campaign rally, in which case his empty podium must be covered with out break and with "breaking news" banners as this was a sure way to boost ratings.

Things like Trump's Russian connections were boring with low viewers and not even relevant because there was no way he was going to win.  Same thing with actual policy discussions, low viewers, not relevant because Hillary was absolutely going to win and her policy ideas were long, complex, and nuanced.  The exception of course was a brief discussion on Trumps policy ideas which fit 140 characters and were whatever crazy idea drew the loudest applause.

Every Clinton email story immediately received 100,000s of click throughs. These were by far the highest performing stories their pages had ever seen. Obviously real people wanted to read those stories and the marketing team was happy to keep those numbers going for the advertisers.

Even his own campaign expected him to lose. Was there anyone who did know he would win? Did the Russian cultural attaché win big on some betting website?

I'm curious how page/article/video views are counted.  If I had a bot network of 100,000 machines, could I potentially have them all load a certain story to make it look like people were really interested thus drive certain story lines by making them look like they draw reader/viewership?

I'm a bit ignorant on how all of this works, but it seems like a very plausible way to drive certain narratives in the MSM by making it look like there is a ton of interest.
