Editor's Note: In this special Just Security article, highly respected former member of the CIA's Senior Intelligence Service, John Sipher examines the Steele dossier

Do all these spooks get cool aliases? Had I known that, I might have made different career choices. Instead, I get to be known as Horatio McWhopperflopper.

The dossier, in Sipher's view, is not without fault, including factual inaccuracies. Those errors, however, do not detract from an overarching framework that has proven to be ever more reliable as new revelations about potential Trump campaign collusion with the Kremlin and its affiliates has come to light in the nine months since Steele submitted his final report.

"It's absolutely true, except where it's provably false".

I wish every detail of the Access Hollywood tape (except the tape itself) would have been released months before the election.

Have every person call the claims of the tape complete bullshiat by every Republican talking head in the US, then release the actual tape.

We established in a previous thread about him that John Sipher is the kind of name that an spy thriller novelist gives to his main character until his editor makes him change it.
