Yes, so "sick" of Clinton that they'd allow the worst President of all time to be elected.

Divvy it up how you want...  I'm sure I can find an exact percentage through polling of those that hate HC... I think 20 is a good assumption although maybe a bit low.  Subtract that from 50 and you'll get the percentage of people that were sick of her. And... yes... they had to be THAT sick of her to stay home or vote in another direction.

30 years of constant negative propaganda, a coordinated media/online campaign between a major political party- the GOP- and a hostile foreign government, actual voter suppression by the GOP, and apathetic voters as well as some sexism.

But bad public speaking skills. Yep, got it.

I don't hate her. I think she would have made a competent, dedicated executive who probably would have followed some policies that made me angry, but there's no hate at all.

I wish she had been a better and more involved candidate and not just mailed in her campaign. Pretty pissed at her about that, I can say.

Goes back further than that. And they distorted even that history.
"Hillary Rodham and John Doar bring impeachment charges against President Richard Nixon in the Judiciary Committee hearing room at the U.S. Capitol in 1974." Her boss wasn't Jerry Zeifman, it was John Doar: "In those days, Congress relied on professional investigators, and a model of the type was the Watergate committee's chief counsel, John Doar, a liberal Republican and moral ramrod."

Here is the issue.... whether we like it or not, the E.C. f*cks us over, so, face it, the Democratic candidate for President is going to need to run a campaign to win the E.C.,  NOT to win the national popular vote.   Campaigns should frigging IGNORE any national popular vote polls.... who the fark cares.

Here is the epitome of how bad it is......

https://docs.google.com/spreadsheets/d/1eaoaaWy2_Sn5kI408EdskgH3QvZ5dUqiIQPNG92-6HA/edit

Tab one is what actually happened.
Tab two is what Trump and Trumpsters like to point out.... "Hey, get rid of California, Trump won the Popular Vote too!".   Which is technically true.... but.....
Tab three is the opposite of that.... take 13 bordering states that add up only slightly less on population, slightly more on total votes, and were pretty much the "opposite" as far as how the masses voted.... and we'll call that "Trumpifornia"... if you say get rid of those states, now Clinton wins by over 7 MILLION votes.... and STILL LOSES the Electoral College.

Actually no, hubris is someone thinking that they had the option of a protest vote at a time they needed to keep a dangerous asshole like Trump out of office.

And there was only one way to do that last year, and I suspect you were too hubristic to do it, given your endless refusal to see how you were wrong.

My take on this is that we're pretty much just beating ourselves up for doing the right thing. Given our system, and given the hate & misogyny present in this last election, what happened was pretty much inevitable. You can't tell me that the 40% of people who stayed home we're early in the dark about their options. As another Farker here said so so succinctly,  this isn't 1917, we live in an information rich age.

Yeah, had nothing to do with the voter suppression and gerrymandering that Republicans pride themselves on, or Russian interference in the voter record databases in the 'key electoral states' that she just didn't work hard enough to win (funny thing, you don't have to actually change the votes themselves if you keep enough Democrats from getting to a booth!). Misogyny, racism and a public wanting a circus sideshow for president had more to do with it than anything else.

I don't think it was inevitable. I think Trump pulled off a long shot against the odds. There were a handful of counties in Wisconsin, PA and Michigan where enough people to fill a movie theater coming out for Hillary instead of staying home would have turned the election.

Anyway there were a lot of factors and it is pointless to dwell on it, let alone to harp on any one thing as the "cause" of her loss. She lost, she's out of politics forever, let's learn from our mistakes and move on.

Her approval was as high as 65 percent as recently as 2012. It's ALMOST as if 4 years of relentless negative media coverage over Benghazi and her emails affected her standing with the public.

Both, of course, turned out to be utter bullshiat. But then, hey, a media assassination ain't gonna kill itself.

That whole Nixon thing is still about blaming everybody but the guy responsible for the party of personal responsibility.  Kind of like blaming Mexicans because your coal mining job went away.

The country nearly melted down back then and the GOP was fine with it. The country is melting down today and the GOP is fine with it.

Oh, please.  There is no possible way that gerrymandering and "voter suppression" led to her loss.  You're making excuses for Black people not wanting to vote for a White person.  The voter participation rate for Blacks was at an all-time high in in 2008 and 2012.  And it dropped back to "normal" levels in 2016.  That's what the media was talking about when they were worried about the "Obama Coalition".  There wasn't enough of a change in laws and voting districts between 2012 and 2016 to make a difference.

I didn't despise her, but I also didn't vote for her during the primary. My reasons were twofold:

1) I wanted someone who leaned further to the left than she did.
2) I was nine years old when the first Gulf War started. It sort of fed my curiosity for politics. All I knew from that point on until 2008 was Bush, Clinton, another Bush and the possibility of another Clinton. I was tired as hell of seeing two families swap the White House over and over again. We broke that streak with Obama, and I preferred to see that the trend continue.

None of that is meant to take away from the fact that she was qualified for the job. She was. But to me she was also a regressive candidate. Of course, all of those reasons became moot once the general was upon us. Unlike some, I'm pragmatic. I had no qualms voting for someone that would've most likely maintained the status quo with some small, incremental changes for the good when faced with...this sh*thead.
