The only thing that needs reforming in federal taxation is finding a way to actually collect it from those who should be paying it.

Dems to Trump: Show us your tax returns to prove how unfair the tax system has been to you.

Typical Trump: offer the Democrats nothing but insults then complain when they won't just give him everything he wants.

Corporate tax cuts mostly go to stock buy backs and executive salaries and not to create jobs.  It turns out that jobs are created by demands for products and services and not how much corporations pay in taxes.

Hey, I wonder who benefits from stock buy backs the most?

Like many of my adventures in World of Warships; Bismarck's nautical rambling were cut short by a torpedo. The resulting battle might not have happened if it wasn't for that torpedo

Trump Tax Reform Plan   (I based this on his other plans thus far)
1. make vague speech about tax reform
2. tweet at congress to come up with a plan / go golfing
3. do nothing to come up with a plan of his own / go golfing
4. lash out at congress for lack of progress  / go golfing
5. brag about the election

He actually said "By lowering taxes on businesses it allows them to hire more people, and with lower taxes business will then raise salaries of current employees.  And if we force companies to bring the money back they have in banks overseas, then they will invest it in other american companies creating more jobs".

I know we've all been ragging on poor Two Scoops for almost a year now about how myopic and shiatty his timing tends to be, but this has to be, hands down, the stupidest, most idiotic thing he's done so far in regards to "poor optics".

Texas, one of the yugest States and a GOP stronghold, essentially lost a good portion of it's bottom half just to weeks ago. Puerto Rico and the US territories in the Caribbean are being power washed off the map at this very moment, and the East Coast from the Florida Keys up to maybe Virginia is about to get the same treatment by this weekend. And there is at least one, possibly two more hurricanes forming behind Irma.

So, faced with what will be at least $200Bin emergency relief that is going to have to be jammed through Congress in the next few weeks, Two Scoops thinks that now is the best time to try and use his Super Business Man Magic Negotiation Skills to cut taxes?

The high(low)lights of his speech:

"Everybody loves Ivanka...come up, honey," Trump says during his tax reform speech, explaining she had asked, "Daddy, can I come with you?"

Trump says he'll have details on tax reform in - guess how long - "the next two weeks."

Trump lies, again, that up to $5 trillion in profits is parked overseas. The US government, and outside experts, say $2.6 to $3 trillion.

Trump calls the estate tax, which applies to estates over $5 million, a tremendous burden on small business, and he vows to eliminate it.

Trump says he'd like to cut the corporate tax rate to 15%, which nobody in his administration thinks has any chance of happening.

There was not much in that speech, which makes sense because there is no tax reform plan.

Decided to work from home just in case Hoeven or Cramer talked him into going to the Capitol. Saw some pictures on FB that showed a massive jam on 94 by the BSC exit. I'm guessing both 94 and Expressway are farking bumper-to-bumper right now.

Alright, you got a funny for that, because Internet Points matter.

Now to be more serious - in rural areas most people drive and it's not uncommon for a one-family household to have three vehicles - one for mom, one for dad, one for kids. Because I'm bored, Census data says there's about 257,000 households in the state, applying a two-car conservative estimate to that gives us 514,000 cars. That's residential estimate only, not any used for commerce.

If the average car length is 15.4 feet, that's creates a total miles of cars in N.D. at 7,915,600. Take that against 5,280 feet per mile and you've got a grand total estimate of 1,499.166 (repeating) miles of cars in the state. And they're all on the I-94 Interstate right now. Probably some on Expressway Ave, as well.

/Thanks, Trump, for causing that math problem
//But not the traffic jams
///Mmmm, jam

That's not the only thing. The fact that our tax code is riddled with carve outs so that gigantic corporations pay next to nothing while small mom and pops pay the full 35% tax rate is a gigantic farking problem. We do need to lower the overall rate, but we have to do that by raising rates on the likes of Exxon and GE, not middle class homeowners. For some odd reason, that's not quite what the Trump Administration is planning. Not sure I can quite put my finger on why, I'll get back to you.
