persuadable voters who backed Barack Obama and then Donald Trump

I wouldn't describe these voters as "persuadable." No, I'd describe them as "farking moronic."

persuadable African American, Latino, and millennial voters

Give these people a reason to vote for you and they'll vote in droves. Tell them you have no choice but to vote for you and, at best, they'll half-heartedly go to the polls.

Voters in the focus groups repeatedly insisted that Trump was focused on jobs after his talk about securing more, better jobs for Americans on the campaign trail

They were completely deluded if they believed the president was ever going to focus on job growth over lining his pockets at their expense.

If Democrats actually voted, Republicans would never win another election. Any Republican strategist would admit this if you got a few drinks in him. That's why Republicans have thrown all their weight behind voter suppression efforts. Their team is assembled and they have to play with what they got. They just have to hope and pray Democrats stay home.

Fortunately for them, a lot of people on the left need to be "inspired" to vote or else they'll just decide to say "f*ck it" and throw the country to the wolves, f*cking themselves over in the process and lining the pockets of the "elites" in the party they claim to hate.

Until this attitude of "give me everything I want or else I'll burn my own house down" attitude in some circles of the left changes, Democrats are going to have to fight and claw their way back into power.

The problem isn't that you're wrong, because you likely aren't.  The problem is that, too often, many people have that view when the proper view should be "HOLY F*CK THIS IS F*CKED UP STOP THIS SH*T NOW BEFORE A LOT OF PEOPLE GET HURT OFF OF SOME BULLSH*T."

And no one seems to take possession of that latter mindset until it's way too late.

Exhibit A is everyone's reaction to Two Scoops actually getting elected.

Gubbo: It isn't enough to be against something or someone.

If you don't think standing in opposition to someone like Donald Trump on principle is enough of a reason to vote for the person most likely to defeat him, you don't really give a sh*t about the country. Which I guess would make at least some sense if it was self-serving in some way, but it isn't. These are also the people who are going to get f*cked over the most.

This to me is the nexus of the Trump voter and the left-wing non-voter/Stein voter. It's like a race to see who can f*ck themselves over the most and the fastest.

2017-09-05 02:35:27 PM
Non presidential elections are never good for the democrat's turn out. It is a shame so many resources will be poured into suppression and the results falsely attributed to those efforts instead of the natural flow of things.

FTA: urges party leaders to put less emphasis on social issues and "recognize that voters want to see a rebalancing of the Party's priorities"

Where "rebalancing" means "we want you to put more emphasis on stuff WE think is important, not this justice nonsense women and ethnics are howling about."

I spent some time with my family this weekend, the vast majority of which are Trump voters. (Not all of them though.)

When I asked them, one on one or in smaller groups, why they voted for him they all mentioned "because Hillary" at one point or another.

My agency recently held a professional development seminar about how we should communicate the results of our work with senior leaders more effectively. This seminar started with a bunch of quotes from various senior leaders. My favorite of these quotes comes from a person several levels up in my chain of command: "If I don't understand your charts, it's not my fault!" Their point was it's incumbent on the person making an ask of someone to do so in a manner that speaks to that someone and convinces them to do what is being asked of them.

A messy, public brawl over a Google critic's ouster from a Washington think tank has exposed a fissure in Democratic Party politics. On one side there's a young and growing faction advocating new antimonopoly laws, and on the other a rival faction struggling to defend itself.

I know which side I would support. Which side will you, Democrats? Choose wisely.

So basically the counter argument is that left-wing non-voters need to be sat down and explained to why it's a bad idea to f*ck yourself over and line the pockets of the people on your side you have issues with, while indirectly supporting the people on the other side who are actively working to make your life worse...

...

Maybe the Democrats really do deserve to lose all these elections.

Democrats, please ignore this corporate owned think tank. They are simply trying to perpetuate the business community's deathgrip on American power, not act in the best interests of the party OR the country. Yes, social issues are important to voters, and yes, we can use a nice sharp tug left for a while in economic policy too. It's half a goddamned century overdue at this point.
