FTFA: "These voters - and almost all of them voted - see Trump's flaws but perceive him as a fellow sinner willing to fight the forces of the establishment on their behalf."

Translation for secular humanists: a bunch of scumballs defend powerful scumball because scumballs want bigger helicopters for their scumball pastors.

Read "Christian Nation" by Frederic Rich if you want to really lose some sleep... they want Pence as President, and they want to run the country as a Theocracy.

Aren't sinners supposed to ask for forgiveness?

Here's Trump's answer if he has ever asked God for forgiveness:

"I am not sure I have. I just go on and try to do a better job from there. I don't think so," he said. "I think if I do something wrong, I think, I just try and make it right. I don't bring God into that picture. I don't."

When asked why he hasn't asked for forgiveness:

"When I drink my little wine -- which is about the only wine I drink -- and have my little cracker, I guess that is a form of asking for forgiveness, and I do that as often as possible because I feel cleansed," he said. "I think in terms of 'let's go on and let's make it right.'"

But the answer is that they are a morally and intellectually bankrupt people.

Jesus Christ, there was less religion in that article than a Mother Earth News interview with a Gaia nutjob. They should have called it "Reasons Evangelicals give to shut down conversations about Trump."

We all must serve the greater good as messengers of our Lord, Donald J Trump, so that His children may know His infinite wisdom of the Chapter 13, no fault divorce and the low, low financing of your very own Trump Tower domicile located on the Corinthians Two level, blessed with the 24hr Panda Express and In 'N Out Notary Service.

I am sticking with my theory that Trump is the Beast of Revelation* and these so-called Christians are worshippers of the Beast, not to mention racists, bigots, chauvinists, sexists, homophobes, haters, antiSemites, and so forth. The Mammonolators of the Gospel of Prosperity in particular see in Trump everything they love: greed, egomania, egoism, egotists, etc. In Trump, they worship and love themselves.

*Technically there are two Beasts. One from the Land and one from the Sea. The Land represents the "Holy Land" and the Sea represents the Gentiles, the Empire of Rome. Trump would be the second beast.

I was sent to a Pentecostal Sunday School as a child because my liberal mainstream Protestant Church had no Sunday School. I know these people. They are the very epitome of Nietzsche's slave ressentiment. They have been indoctrinated by right wing subservsives and haters for over a century. Their Christ is Antichrist. There is no love nor truth in them.

Sure they love their own, but do the very Heathen not do as much?

Haters only love you when you are hating.

I always say that "Good People" do most of the evil in this world, if only because there are so many more of them than "Bad Hombres". Pious buggers, Church Ladies and demonic harpies like Ann Coulter. "Good People" to Donald Trump and followeres of the Beast 666 and other right wing nut Fake News.

If we kept religion out of politics, religion would hurt far fewer people.

Glitchwerks: There's a place in hell for all of you, and the bible you never read tells you this.

Oh, they read it plenty, which is the really scary part. They can quote chapter and verse for things like "Love thy neighbor", "Render unto Caesar", and "He who is without sin", and still manage to reconcile all the bullshiat they spew into the world as being the Right Hand of God.

2017-09-02 10:52:56 AM
When your religion is premised solely on what you profess to believe, rather than anything you actually do, it's easy to give 'the right' people a pass for doing pretty much anything. Also see Dubya and the Iraq War.

Because they think going to a building for an hour a week to compare clothing means they've earned the right to dictate how everyone in this country should live.

Church folks would absolutely hate it if the country was a theocracy.  They know absolutely nothing about other branchs of Christianity and would be appalled at some of their practices.

Imagine if Jehovah's Witnesses managed to get blood transfusions banned for everyone or if Southern Baptist  had alcohol banned or if Mormons had coffee banned.....

Well who wants another Muslim President?  Not me.

2017-09-02 10:55:31 AM
Because they are morally bankrupt and use religion just as a crutch to justify their own hatred and bigotry and greed. . .and Trump plays into that perfectly.

I'm more worried about USA, Earth.  Whatever make believe / mythological judgment zones they face are of no concern to us.

Article misses an obvious fact that these people are willing and eager to condemn their political foes for much lesser sins than what Trump has committed.

TedCruz'sCrazyDad: Church folks would absolutely hate it if the country was a theocracy.  They know absolutely nothing about other branchs of Christianity and would be appalled at some of their practices.

Yeah, but the people wanting a theocracy always presume it will be their exact denomination in charge, that it will be their religion that everyone is being held to.

They'd be appalled at the practices of other branches of Christianity, and they expect that they'd be able to just ban THOSE forms of Christianity as heretical.

The idea never occurs to them that they would EVER be oppressed in that environment, that the version of Christianity that's in charge isn't theirs.
