Meh, we've already seen a boatload of "grounds for impeachment" in general.
Wake me when Congress makes a move on something.

While technically and legally correct.
And if these were just mob guys, that kind of thing would stick.

Unfortunately any impeachment is ultimately tried in the court of public opinion.  Its going to take a lot of public will (and believe it or now we are no where near that point yet) to impeach Trump.    A lot of people will be willing to stop there and, "at least Pence won't blow up the world.

Real world, Any potential impeachment is at least 6 months away, and that is optimistic.
So anything that goes down will likely go down next year during the election season.

This could be enough to help the dems at least recapture the house, maybe (very long shot) the Senate.

If they could at least get the House, i'd be fine with President Pence or Ryan.

Yeah, I'd love to see them both go down for this, but right now I am doubting even Trump will go down for this.

It would be a real shame if Pence keeps getting praised for his response to Harvey and Donnie gets jealous and decides that Pence has to go under the bus.

A. Real. Shame.

lindalouwho: kbronsito: So who is the GOP's current Gerald Ford?

Paul Ryan is next in line but Gerald Ford was a minority leader. He wasn't actually on the line of succession until he got 25th amended on. Now, as minority leader, he was the closest thing to a republican speaker of the house at that time but mostly got shoved in there because he was well-liked by his party, generally respected (even if there were some dumb jokes) and also delicious.

So if Pence got magically impeached before Trump, is Ryan still Ford? He doesn't seem that delicious.

The only thing Trump can do is Complain.   He can't fire Pence.
He might could arrange some leak of something to throw Pence under the bus, but that would only blow up in Trump's face... ohplease.jpg

Shouldn't this be additional jeopardy?  Given what we know he knew about Flynn before the inauguration?

Sure their both amoral criminals but it only matters if The House is willing to do something about it and as long as Republican primary voters support Trump they won't.

IIRC Ford was chosen as VP after Spiro bailed, and then rose from there when Dick quit

"Let's keep in mind that the [President Richard] Nixon articles of impeachment included a provision blaming Nixon for misleading or false statements to the public," Shugerman continued. "Now, that's not a felony, but it was grounds for impeaching President Nixon."

So why hasn't Donnie been cited for his 400+ blatant lies he's spewed on Twitter and in speeches since he was sworn into office?

Yep, was VP for around 8 months.

Orrin Hatch.  Ryan may be looking at conspiracy charges himself out of this mess, since he may have helped hush up the Trump-Russia connection in advance of the convention but after Trump was the presumptive nominee.

Hatch keels over dead at a perfect moment, Tillerson and Mnuchin quit, and we get Mattis.

Two Scoops can't fire Pence, and if Pence resigns, is impeached, or otherwise leaves office, Two Scoops also can't choose his own VP without Senate and Congress confirmation.

He can try to just appoint Ivanka, or a horse or something, but she wouldn't be the VP.

I think him telling McCarthy et al to keep "it in the family" that summer before the election is pretty clear indication he knew and helped cover it up. McCarthy certainly knew since he brought it up to begin with and named Rohrbacher and Trump as being on Putin's payroll. Manafort's "RNC/donation" notes during the June 9 espionage meeting are adding to the picture.

Rep. Brad Sherman (D-CA) introduces articles of impeachment against Trump

Granted, one lone Democrat in a sea of naysayers, but it's something for now. As the justice system grinds its wheels slowly, public opinion is changing, details of the Russian espionage conspiracy coming clearer. Things are moving much faster than it seems. We're only 7 months into this administration and we've already had dawn no-knock raids. I want to believe there has to be some Republicans that aren't tainted by Russia who will step forward for our country.

You also made yourself look like a jerk in front of millions of people! And
you brought shame and disgrace on your family name for generations to come!

2017-09-02 02:50:16 PM
In the article about Kansan Kris Kobach, it said 2 Scoops was going to make a speech or some shiat on this coming Tuesday (9/6/2017).

If Ryan becomes POTUS,  I guarantee that he will make Grumps look bold, decisive and effective in comparison. Ryan is deer-in-the-headlights as speaker. He would be catatonic as president.

He's also made a fair number of enemies, plenty of people would be gunning for him.

MaudlinMutantMollusk: President Ryan?

You prefer President Pence? Or President Trump? He's not a great pick but is currently the lesser of all evils. And considering all things, he's probably the best you'd get until 2020 comes around

2017-09-02 02:52:11 PM
Shugerman said that misprision of a felony is when a person like Pence "has knowledge of a felony" and then "conceals and does not make it known to the legal authorities," he can be found guilty.

This is the textbook definition of begging the question. He is assuming that what Trump did was a felony which is hardly a given. It might be and we all might hope that it is, but it's hardly a fact. But he assumes that it is true and based on that assumption he is saying Pence is then guilty of something else.

I'm pretty liberal, but this fanfic stuff is boring. Can we stick with reality and solid logic, please?

Democratic voters, you mean.

People who stayed home:  "Gee, this guy is threatening to kill me, rape me, and then burn my house down...in that order.  Eh, he won't really do it."

*guy proceeds to do as he promised*

People who stayed home:  "Why won't someone do something?!?"

Sane people:  "We told you, dumbass.  Besides, we kinda have our own f*cking problems to deal with at the moment, no f*cking thanks to you.  Remember, get as much evidence under your fingernails as you can; that'll help us later."
