Don't worry - They'll be back to their Fed hatin' ways in no time. Most people don't have flood insurance there, and FEMA grants are capped at around $33K.  Most folks will get far less.  And that's IF congress appropriates funds.

There is a a simple formula for dealing with disaster relief spending.  The State matches municipal dollars.  The Feds match Municipal/State dollars combined.

For instance, if Houston wants/needs $20B, they must to commit to spending $5B and Texas needs to find $10B.  Not sure if formulas already exist but if not, they should be written into law.

Maybe your simple formula isn't so simple...

NJ and NY pay plenty in to the federal government too, but when they needed help those "conservative" Texans thought they shouldn't get it, and voted accordingly.

Now they need it themselves and they are signing a different tune. We can all see through the bullshiat rationalization they're using by comparing these two similar things.

That's why your post is bullshiat.

Both Texas senators voted against the exact same aid they are asking for now.
http://www.latimes.com/business/hiltzik/la-fi-harvey-aid-sandy-vote-20170828-story.html

Both lied about why they did it:

That is the point, that actually happened, unlike that "first to call 911" stat you pulled out of your butt to make a point then called everyone a 5 year old for not knowing.

Given that state AGs in most states seem to have basically nothing to do but sue the federal government these days, how does that compare with other states of similar population?  I tried to look it up but it seems to be kind of a difficult question since you can't technically sue "the federal government" due to sovereign immunity, just specific departments.

I mean... California has sued the DOJ within the last two farking weeks, so clearly this isn't the rare "accomplishment" TFA is claiming.  48 suits in eight years actually feels... a bit on the low side.  A state with 30-40 million people only got enough of them pissed at the feds to push a government of the opposition party to sue once every two months, even with a depression going on?

I remember the reaction to this news item on conservative blogs back then, people trying to square this with their "red states = hard workin' taxpayers/blue-states = leeches on red states" dichotomy. It was mainly about how New Mexico has national laboratories, and that's the big culprit. It still doesn't explain why all the supposed welfare-sucking blue states aren't at the top of the list.

Nope! Only ever called the police once in almost 50 years. That was to try to get help for my septuagenarian mother who was 30 miles away. Farking useless waste of time, idiots did show up before I could have (just barely) and accomplished nothing other than waste my time. Actual quote form the 911 convo...
"If you are so concerned, why are you not there?"
"Because I'm 30 miles away, I told you that, you idiot! Being the police department in that town, isn't your job to respond to emergency calls?"
"We have officers on route..."
"It has been 10 minutes, in a town of 50k. How long does it take you? Fark this, I'm on my way..."
Those farks were as useless as your brain is. I took care of the issue myself later that night.

Personally, the current situation in Texas is because of Texans.  Yes, there was rain, but ALL of them were so hell bent on making sure that they were unprepared that they are suffering far beyond what the situation called for.

They are certainly not suffering far beyond what they should because they are typically fat, lazy, traitorous morons, who love Trump and every person who tries to f**k the environment over.  They hate the US, they hate the environment.  The deserve to suffer and then die.

Texans are like the f**king idiots in "the State of Jefferson" who biatch about everyone else until a disaster comes along that they made worse by their own stupidity, then they expect everyone else to help them because they are far too lazy to do it themselves.

They elect Cruz who says "f**k you" to everyone else and then wonder why that sack of s**t doesn't have everyone else on their side when they have problems.  They have their vile evangelicals who mouth "Jesus!" so that they can fleece idiots out of their money and then say f**k you when people need help.

Show me one good Texan and I will show 1000 who are garbage.  Let they secede like they have been yelling about and then let them f**king die.

Tell ya what, Texans, if you pile all those guns up, maybe that will keep out the water, you dumb f**ks.
You remember when that evangelical, pro-life Texan became president and murdered over 1 million Iraqis and destroyed the economy?

From what is read, Texans only want hopes and prayers.  How 'bout I hope you drown and pray that you all die?

Because clearly, the only reason that nature hit you this hard is because God hates all Texans.

So lets see...

Sandy hits, Texas rep. votes against aid for Sandy on BS reasons.  Texas, all in all, has always biatched about the Union, sued them, been a PITA, etc.  They are, I lived there, that's how that state 'unanimously' thinks.  I'm not saying ALL Texans still want to succeed, but if you don't get that vibe there you're not paying attention; I actually know some incredibly nice, reasonable logical Texans.  Ok not really, but it's a polite platitude.

My point... Yes, Texas sucks so hard the trees on Oklahoma point south.

But all in all isn't the point of the Union that we're willing to come to the aid of ALL our citizens, not just the ones we deem fit?

/We have to be better than Cruise on this really.
