You don't really think the Russians are giving Assange free room and board, do you? They've had the threat of extradition to use on him as a lever for several years now and they will use it to make him say whatever they want.

Assange is an Australian citizen, dunno if Trump can "pardon" him for anything if the charges are from other countries.

The California Republican became the first U.S. lawmaker to meet with Assange at the Ecuadorian Embassy in London early last month, where Assange has been holed up for years in an attempt to avoid arrest. Rohrabacher claims Assange offered him "firsthand" evidence during the meeting that would prove there was no collusion between the Trump campaign and Russia during the race

"Firsthand", from a guy that's been hiding in an embassy for the last how many years?!?!?!?

That word, I don't think it means what they think it means....

Trump has offered praise for WikiLeaks and Assange's own efforts to question U.S. intelligence community's conclusion that Russia sought to influence last year's presidential election.

In other words, Trump "offered praise" for ill-gotten hearsay and confirmation that the Russians ordered hacks into our political parties' information systems.

This is an impeachable offense.

Marcus Aurelius: I was not aware that the US had charged Assange with a crime.  Has it?

"leaking classified information" seems to be what's being bandied about.

If that is the case, why would Trump want to pardon Assange? Trump lashed out at Sessions for not doing enough to find and prosecute leakers, especially leakers of classified information.

I wonder why he would be so willing to offer a pardon, now, over leaking classified information..?

/CAN YOU EVEN BE ANY MORE GOTTVERDAMMT TRANSPARENT, TRUMP??

Here is what that means - Russia thinks that the majority of Americans are so farking stupid that they will believe this is not only possible to prove by a rapist's word but this totally wasn't fed to him by Putin.

Michael Borohovski, a former intelligence contractor currently at a cybersecurity firm he founded, Tinfoil Security, similarly said that such a pardon would reinforce the idea that it is okay to leak.

"Assange allegedly was involved with a few of the largest intelligence leaks of all time. Pardoning him would make it seem OK," Borohovski said.

Oh, but President Consistency hates leakers... Or he did the other day, maybe it's changed. I don't have the updated spreadsheet with his policy for today.

The Russians aren't paying for shiat. Assange  is hiding out in the Ecuadorian embassy in London to avoid prosecution for rape charges in Sweden. Two Scoops can't pardon that.

So they want to pardon Assange so that he won't ever be brought to the US to face criminal charges regarding the RNC colluding with the RNC? And the one Republican that everyone knows is on Putin's payroll wants to get it done. This is where things will get interesting. Pardoning Assange, while it may help them dodge shiat in the short term is going to open them up to all sorts of obstruction of justice charges in the long term. Nixon didn't resign because of the Watergate break in. He resigned because he got caught trying to cover it up.

Assange helped with the October surprise and the email dump. Trump owes him a huge favor.

But Putin TOLD him they didn't interfere. Then he got an eyelash in his eye.

2017-09-01 12:05:26 PM
And how, exactly, would you even BEGIN to prove that?  Evidence that something as nebulous and wide ranging as collusion with a foreign government, or interference with the electoral process DIDN'T happen and you can PROVE it?  Could you PROVE that Putin didnt personally open the back of a voting machine in Pennsylvania and tamper with the votes?  Probablym with detailed logs of where he was in the days before, during and after the election.... could your prove anything less specific than that didn't happen?  No farking chance....

Sweden drops Julian Assange rape investigation

Sweden's chief prosecutor Marianne Ny told a news conference in Sweden that the decision to discontinue the preliminary investigation into the rape allegations, which date back to 2010, had been made because "all possibilities to advance the investigation have now been exhausted."

The bigger question in my mind is how do you prove something like that didn't happen. Seriously? how can you prove that it didn't happen. 1 piece of paper is all it takes to prove it did happen (and lets face it we have plenty of items already skirting that line), while you could fill up a warehouse with data servers stuffed with intel and records and still not be able to prove it didn't happen. Sounds to me like someone wants there to be a rumor out there that evidence of non-collusion exists.
