In 1989, Donald Trump used a charity's money to pay his son's $7 registration fee for the Boy Scouts.

Who says?

The Washington Post does.

2017-08-31 04:13:44 PM
Since everything that comes out of his mouth is a lie, there will be no donation.

2017-08-31 04:14:24 PM
I mean, they know Farenthold is out there and about to call every single charity he can think of?

Coupons good for 20 percent off at Trump Tower (Blackout Dates Apply)

So, like the veterans donation that required constant pressure from the press to actually happen?

Gubbo: I mean, they know Farenthold is out there and about to call every single charity he can think of?

Correct sir. I already texted him this B.S. He'll have an interesting response. lol

I once saw a copy of the check and I can't find it again. That's a real bad optic.

"The Ivanka and Jared Foundation for the Preservation of Houston st"

I'll believe it when I see it.

Okay, someone tell me where there's a Trump golf course on the gulf coast.

If you've got to pay for repairs, why not classify it as a donation and get a nice tax write off?

2017-08-31 04:23:43 PM
It's nice that Russia feels it can afford to help Houston.

2017-08-31 04:24:34 PM
Until we see videos from multiple sources writing out and signing a check from his own personal account, it will never happen.

2017-08-31 04:25:10 PM
And, at the same time, he will resume taking his salary, increase the frequency of his trips to his properties, and increase the membership dues at Mar-a-Lago. Hell, in the end, he may profit from this donation.

2017-08-31 04:25:16 PM
So 1/10th of 1% of the proposed federal budget cuts to disaster aid.

2017-08-31 04:29:18 PM
It isn't so much that I don't trust him. It's that I genuinely think he doesn't care about getting caught and doesn't learn from the past and doesn't realize that there is a distinction between the sources of cash. This donation will almost certainly come from his campaign or his charity foundation.

2017-08-31 04:30:41 PM
Is he actually donating his money or other people's on his behalf?

2017-08-31 04:31:17 PM

MasterAdkins: Since everything that comes out of his mouth is a lie, there will be no donation.

There will be, but he'll make Mexico pay for it.

That's nice and completely bullshiat and all, but when are they officially renaming Hurricane Harvey to "Hurricane Bobby Brown"?

If Irma hits Mar a Lago, you can be damn sure we'll be on the hook for some massive upgrades.

Riiiiiight..... Right after you donate all the Old Post Office hotel profits from foreign entities to whatever the fark you said you would do, and right after you pay back your foundation for the legal fees you FARKING ILLEGALLY PAID out for your own personal BS, and right after the other zillion things you lied out your ass about paying or donating to..

Nadie_AZ: Until we see videos from multiple sources writing out and signing a check from his own personal account, it will never happen.

A check?  You'd trust a check from Trump?

I'll believe it when I see him withdraw 1,000 $100 bills from a bank and hand them over.  And only then after two people count them independently.

2017-08-31 04:46:25 PM
He's already played this game with the veteran's fund raiser he did in lieu of the GOP debate and had to scramble to find a politically-useful stooge charity or three to take some money when the press caught on that he pocketed the take at the fund raiser.

So I assume he'll find some church charities that are also politically active supporting him and they'll set-up the Houston "charity" for him to drop the cash into in a suitably lavish extravaganza event.

2017-08-31 04:49:58 PM
First, he needs to line up the donors and collect the $2 million.  Then he'll give the $1 million to the Red Cross.

2017-08-31 04:51:47 PM
the Donald J Trump Rebuild Texas fund, which is run by Eric Trump.  Sure, 99.9%  percent of donations go to administrative overhead, but they sure do a lot for that .1%

How much is the Clinton Foundation donating?

I work with faculty.  They see all the money they bring in via grants or donations as 'their money' and get angry when I tell them how they can spend it.  I assume that D2S is a bigger, angrier version of this.

I'm "probably" having a one-night stand with Aubrey Plaza.

Farking probability, how does it work?

2017-08-31 04:57:01 PM
"Probably $1 million"? Guess he learned a lesson from when he promised to donate a million dollars to veterans' charities. If you say you're going to donate a million dollars, people actually expect you to donate a million dollars. Including "probably" means it'll probably end up being a used scratch-off lottery ticket and some pocket lint.

2017-08-31 04:57:02 PM
"Probably."

Operative word detected.

2017-08-31 04:57:19 PM
If you tell me he'll be taking advantage and stealing from disaster relief efforts I would be more likely to believe it.

Houston Food Bank.   There, that wasn't difficult.

2017-08-31 05:02:31 PM
Translation: Trump will take money that other people gave to his Trump Foundation, use it to fix Trump properties on the Gulf Coast, and classify that as a charitable donation for tax purposes.

2017-08-31 05:02:31 PM
Also, using the WH to brag about your donating is pretty sh*tty

For crying out loud, all you whiny libs make me sick! He's already visited the area, thereby using his incredibly valuable brand name to boost the overall economy of Texas by, probably, millions of dollars. Get over it already, he's done his part. And, yeah, I don't see Hillary out there handing out her ill gotten gains from selling AMERICAN URANIUM TO THE RUSSIANS!

I assume the blackout dates at Trump Tower are dates where black people will be kept out of the property?

The John Miller Foundation.

2017-08-31 05:10:35 PM
Please understand, at Trump's level of grift, "donating" doesn't mean taking money out of his pocket, it means having his accountants change the labels on his accounts. Even if money exits Trump's financial ledger and enters some charity's, that doesn't mean he actually gave them anything.

2017-08-31 05:10:41 PM

stoli n coke: He'll make the donation just as soon as his kids set up another scam charity.

Yeah, whatever happened to that S.T.E.M. summer camp Ivanka was supposed to set up with her dads "donated" salary money last quarter?

MasterAdkins: Since everything that comes out of his mouth is a lie, there will be no donation.

Well, he could have lied and it's much more! You don't know!
