So Trump has some congressachumps still willing to destroy their careers and get nothing in return?  Wow.

It took a while to translate out of the original German-

prevent special counsel Robert Mueller from probing "matters occurring before June 2015,"

So if they find a notarized video of Trump strangling a Russian hooker to death from May 2015 he'll just have to forget about it.

So what happened in May 2015?

Bill?  Sounds more like a willy.

Can anyone give any context to this?

I've looked back at the .pdf linked inline in TFA but it still makes no sense.

A Republican lawmaker has put forth an amendment that would stop funding for the special counsel's Russia investigation 180 days after it becomes law.

World's.  Awesomest.  GoFundMe.  EVAR!!

And how long did the email/Benghazi nonsense go on?

Republicans can't claim that Trump isn't a Republican when they will go to almost any length to defend him.

Archie Goodwin: So what happened in May 2015?

What happened in June 2015?  Trump announced he was running for president.  I know its a crazy idea to limit the investigation of the trump campaign to the actual period of the trump campaign.

When options for legal recourse are removed, the remaining options aren't going to look terribly pleasant to Trump and his collaborators. Not that they're thinking very far ahead.

Because it's IMPOSSIBLE for something to happen before the campaign that affects the campaign.

Well, it certainly goes against the traditionally wide scope of such investigations.

And if, during the investigation, Mueller uncovers another crime he should turn it over to the local authorities and ignore it himself, right?

Are you operating under the delusion that the preparation for Trump's run only began the day he announced his candidacy?  Because that would be dumb even by your dreadfully low standards.

Justice is scary, we need to build a wall to obstruct it from getting to us.   (Please ignore that city of 4 million people drowning over there, we'll build them their own wall against nature in time.)

The next constitutional amendment should prevent legislative proposals that affect solely the action of a certain law from being passed as parts of other, unrelated laws. Amend the original bill, or GTFO.

prevent special counsel Robert Mueller from probing "matters occurring before June 2015,"

What difference does this make? A businessman who engages in corruption, fraud and laundering is guilty of corruption, fraud and laundering, irrespective of when he decided to run for President.

Yeah.  Seems like a blatantly unconstitutional proposal, unless they're limiting the prohibition on high crimes and misdemeanors to the same date...

...I guess they're going to have to have a Constitutional Convention.

No, the investigation was about a real estate thing that he never got charged with.  It was lying about a blowjob that got him impeached.

This hurricane is going to bring Trump down.  Republicans have been trying to defend Trump as hard as they can, but there is absolutely no way he can cover his ass on this one.   As I said to my GF earlier "He is a kid in a remedial class who just got a pop quiz in calculus.", and he is still trying to shill a wall, and defened Arpaio while millions are suffering.   There's not a snowball's chance in hell he pulls off a successful response to this.

Even Republicans are going to run away from him in the next week.

In fairness, the rational was that he lied about sexual misconduct during his rape trial.  Rather or not that blowjob was relevant to his rape trial, which he cleared, is another matter.

So you must have felt that it would be madness not to limit a dead-end investigation into a failed real estate investment by a certain former president, and I *shudder* to imagine your outrage at an endless investigation into State Department malfeasance at an obscure North African consulate. Surely you were quaking with indignant rage. Surely.

So Bill Clinton was tried for rape... I did not know that.  Oh, that's right.  That never happened.  What's your uvula look like from the back end?
