Something like 85% of Houston is flooded, they'll probably fly over it in a helicopter.

Yea my boss said to plan on being home through the week. If we can head in by Thursday we'll try, but we're all preparing for at least 3-4 days, if not the full week.

Poor little thing.

In all seriousness, I know Trump doesn't want to repeat W's Katrina errors but I would think that it would be more prudent to at least wait until after the rain stops to visit and not pull resources away from ongoing rescue work.

Awww....
Someone told him having him and his whole entourage there would disrupt the rescue operations. Which is also why Obama didn't go right away in Louisiana.

Farking logic, how does it work ?

He is still going to Texas, and Melania is going with him for some reason.

I imagine this is going to be them touring some operations center and flying around Houston in a helicopter.

had to look it up myself when they said he was coming.. he doesn't have any courses in texas that I can find.. I was shocked he actually was planning to come given that fact but lets be honest.. he probably thought he had a course there and when someone told him there was no Trump Golf Course there so he canceled his trip.

Just a few reminders:

- He handed Play-Doh to other people for a grand total of thirty seconds.
- He was there to support (and with the support of) known bigot and asshole Tony Perkins of the Family Research Council.
- Governor John Bel Edwards specifically asked him not to come to Louisiana while thousands were still recovering.
- He donated precisely zero dollars to actual relief efforts like the Red Cross.

One would think showing sympathy for the residents and respect to the responders would be a fairly easy thing for most people.

Yeah according to the closest rain gage, we've already had over two feet of rain since Harvey arrived on Friday night. Can't believe there's still more on the way.

W's Katrina farkup wasn't the lack of an immediate photo-op, it was putting an unqualified doofus in charge of operations.  Trump's potential fiasco is how they're gutting FEMA.

So Bush and his FEMA farked up big time with Katrina.  Ever since then, we have been way over the fark analyzing the actions of the POTUS during major disasters.

If the POTUS doesn't go, he's ignoring it.
If the POTUS does go, he's distracting resources from the actual clean up effort.

Why hasn't the POTUS sent money yet?!?!? [because the governor of the state didn't ask for it]
Did the POTUS send enough money?!?!?!? [Congress holds the purse strings]

Where was the POTUS actually sitting during the disaster?  If he was sitting in THIS room, that's bad.  But if he was in THAT room, that's okay.  Because reasons.  Wait, was he TELECONFERENCED in?!?!  That's so farking horrific because that changes... absolutely nothing but still, the OPTICS!!!

Now it's to the point, anyone on TV who was asked about Trump's response to Harvey basically jerked off to how amazing Trump was.  The governor asked for assistance, Trump signed it and said yes.  That's it.  That's all he can really do.  But boy was that ever jerked off to over and over again.  Tough to blame them, given the thread on how he teleconferenced in and that's so terrible.

2017-08-28 12:57:59 PM
Of course he won't go. There is no way to spin the lackluster Harvey response as Clinton or Obama's fault. And there still remains no way to spin the fact that he was busy pardoning a racist asshole and starting a transgender ban in the military instead of taking action on Harvey.

To sum it up--Trump cares far more about the needs of racist Nazis and Russian oligarchs over the needs of thousands of Americans flooded out of their homes, and that should piss you off. A lot.

2017-08-28 12:57:59 PM
Isn't it a little early to go?  I realize that he has to go at some point from a political perspective but from my understanding they are still in the thick of the storm and it won't be clear by Tuesday

He really shouldn't come right now. The kind of security needed for a presidential visit would be a huge issue right now.

2017-08-28 12:59:56 PM
Of course. If he doesn't go he can claim the flood and the storm are fake.

Yeah, I think having the POTUS show up right now would do actual harm to rescue efforts.  I can fault him for a lot of things, but not this.

If you read the article, he is still going to Texas, just not Houston.

Good on you, Trump.  For once in your life.

It was right for Obama to delay disaster visits to not hinder operations.  While I'm sure Trump doesn't give 2 shiats about the damage, people harmed, or the problems his presence would cause, it's the right move to hold off.

It must have occurred to someone that President Joffrey would only fark it up by yapping about Hillary or how great he is or how many people attended his inauguration, so they advised him to postpone the trip at least and since he doesn't really give a fark anyway, he agreed.

There'll be plenty of time later to fark it up.

Not the time for a Presidential visit.  Logistics are a nightmare for basic needs right now.  The last thing you need is the POTUS and his security detail coming to town.

Are they making you use your leave? I feel really bad for the minimum wage people who don't get leave time. They are just not going to get  paid, and if their store is damaged, may be unemployed.
