(Fark)   Today, after a lot of procrastination, I will eat my first-ever burrito. I'll post a picture of the uncooked thing momentarily. Later this year, a visit to Taco Bell UK   ( fark.com) divider line

I would say do it in the conventional oven, but I bet it will probably taste much the same as in the microwave.

You should go out in the next few days and order one at a Mexican restaurant and then come back with a follow up thread comparing the two burritos.

So your plans for today include eating Mexican food made with English beef?

I was hoping to this weekend, but Manchester's Pride parades have put paid to that. Hoping to do it before the cool holidays finish here though - 1-1/2 weeks and counting!

King Something: So your plans for today include eating Mexican food made with English beef?

Nope, it's a, er... vegetarian burrito. (My wife's a pescetarian, she bought it home for me earlier.)

2017-08-27 10:42:52 AM
In my experience, that is the most disgusting brand of burrito that it is possible to buy. Hubby came home with a couple of them once to try and I took one bite and spit it out. Horrendous! If you have never eaten a burrito before, go have one in a Mexican restaurant so you know what they should taste like. Christ, Amy's is like a first-timer eating day-old sushi bought from a gas station.

If you procrastinate too long the burrito will get cold.

burrito is my spirit animal.  I've been making batches of burritos weekly the last month or more.  Beef & Bean, Egg, Sausage & Potato, they are great to have on hand and pretty healthy compared to other options.  I've been making them spicy also with the little cans of diced jalapeno and Salsa Casera Hot mixed right into the filling.

I would have to second this opinion. Even if it was a good brand, it's not going to be as good as in a restaurant and probably shouldn't be your first taste of a dish.

You do you, but if it was me I'd be looking for a GOOD burrito for my first

That is not a burrito.  Those are not tacos.

There are dozens of real mexican restaurants in Manchester.  Comeon!

Since this is Fark, and you're across the pond, I should point out that you're doing it wrong.

You should boil your burrito for 5 hours, and serve it with a side of mushy peas.

Enjoy!

Is this thing supposed to spurt hot sauce at me?

Tastes not bad, sure I've no yardstick to flatten it with but I definitely want more.

In summary, eating it from the foil, a few minutes after extracting it from the oven, though not a bucket list-quality experience, confirmed what I already knew: it's a great snack, at least has the potential to be so in my life.

Tasty, just the right amount of spiciness and flavours I've experienced in other TexMex foods. The texture was a bit sloppy and, due to my inexpert foil wrapping, a bit messy at the bottom. (More on that at 11.)

Welcome to being a drunk American at 3 a.m. and desperate for something "filling."

Now have one at a proper Mexican restaurant (not one run by a possibly-Italian guy with a Manchester acent) and discover the joy of getting gas the way God intended.

It's been an education over the last few days, ever since I mentioned I've never had a Taco either.

Wrapping a burrito is an art that few ever master.  Mexican grandmothers do it best.
