something is about to hit Trump hard. I think the Rick Wilson "two weeks" prediction last week is either the Mueller findings, resignation or impeachment starting. It's going to get very ugly soon if Trump is doing his damnest to both try and leverage support from Republican senators and burning bridges with those same senators when they refuse

It almost sounds like Trump was trying to bribe the Senator.

Did I miss something in the article? All I read was Trump stating he wasn't happy and wanted the bill quashed. Where's the bribe?

/I don't doubt Trump would attempt bribery, I just don't see it in TFA

It wouldn't be hard to imagine bribery if you knew Thom Tillis.

To be fair, Trump seems to lose money on any capitalistic venture not heavily rigged in his favor. A fair poker game would bankrupt him even further

While it's true that things that might have derailed other administrations haven't had a significant impact on Trump's, the result of the Mueller investigation could very well prove to be a significant enough blow that Congressional Republicans will have no choice but to side against him. That he seems to be doing his damnedest to alienate those same people can only help when the time comes.

He has such a big and fragile ego, he doesn't think he has anything to hide. Just one more thing to make him look bad.

He's definitely actively ignoring advice, and including the advice in speeches just before not following it. If he's not moving towards resignation, he's working hard at impeachment.

Trump YV would have the biggest kickoff it the establishment pushes him out, so I think that's the exit strategy. If he doesn't get too impatient.

...the hell you don't. You're quite happy to comment on such conversations, provided that the comment furthers Trump's agenda. The second it may make Trump look bad, you dummy up.

I mean, it's OK - we know that no White House spokesperson in the Trump administration is going to ever tell the truth about anything any more - but don't expect us to buy your bullshiat.

browneye: I thought when Trump fired Bannon that all the WH leaks would stop.

This could have been leaked from Tillis' office. In fact, I wouldn't be surprised if that were the case. Trump calling Tillis and demanding he kill his own bill is bad enough. That the bill was created as a shield against an action Trump could possibly take makes it worse. If I were Tillis, I'd have leaked this so the country could see why the legislation he and Coons had created was necessary.

MrBallou: He either doesn't even try to hide his desperate, panicky efforts to cover up his guilt, or he's just really bad at hiding it.

He blusters through everything.  And it has worked because no one cares enough to make him stop.  Stopping him would require putting effort in, and it is often just easier to go along and rob the farker blind.  Remember that he had to have his dad bail him out multiple times.  And if you took the money he inherited and stuck it in a bleeding savings account, you would have about three times the money Trump claims he has now (which is probably wildly exaggerated since he counts his name itself as an asset, and he has admitted he simply declares a value for it).  The man was born on third and he is chugging determinedly back to first while declaring he has scored at least 50 home runs.  He is so blindingly stupid, why not let him blather, when you can make sure you get to raid the piggy bank before he can?

Trump's problem now is that there are enough people in government who are not beholden to him or have to give a flying fark what he thinks that he can only shout impotently.  But he keeps shouting because it is the only trick his little baby brain has.

He's never been in this kind of limelight. He has never had to really deal with people who have staffers who are interviewed every day by the press. He can't make anyone sign an NDA about everything he talks about.

He has NO FARKING CLUE what he is doing, how deep he is in it, or what the rules of this game even are.
