Well I assume Lando is in it so that meets the minority quota for a Star Wars film.

According to TFA he played a human-animal hybrid.

Seems like they are reshooting most of the movie.

Not surprising, as Han Solo should not be a slapstick comedy.

Since he's not busy then, could he please make some more Hap and Leonard??

If the problem was the overall tone, Opie's going to have to do a total teardown and rebuild, save for maybe a few action sequences that would be too expensive to redo.

It's going to be delayed.

I found that scene sad.  There's some really nice people in the Klan, great people, and they really said some of the nicest things about me.  It's sad that the mainstream media always puts those people in the worst light.

Not to be a downer but making major changes to the cast or director or script is not a good sign.

It's worked before. Both Wizard of Oz and Gone with the Wind switch directors while filming.

No, it is an excellent sign, if they are throwing out the garbage those two idiots created in their effort to turn Han and Chewbacca into Dumb and Dumber in Space.

You really have to try hard to screw this up... with Kasdan writing the script, it should have been painfully obvious how to make the film. Lord and Miller were brought on board for a fresh approach to a sci-fi action film, not to turn it into a buddy comedy; it seems they'd have preferred a script written by Bruce Vilanch, rather than the guy who brought us the dark masterpiece that was Empire.

How long will it be delayed? Hopefully not at all. Much of the post-production stuff will continue during reshoots, which should only take a few weeks, tops. It's not the same as shooting from scratch; sets are built, actors will mostly remember their lines. It will probably mean fewer takes and from what has been reported, I suspect the actors will be more cooperative (and comfortable) with Ron Howard at the helm.

What would have been a bad sign is if they had NOT fired these assholes and kept on rolling along, despite the reports of how badly these guys wanted to make Star Wars Life Day 2: Wookie Boogaloo.

And look what happened with The Wizard of Oz. The new director switched film stocks and went in an entirely different direction.

I think it's actually pretty easy to screw this thing up since it's such a bad idea to do in the first place. It'll make money regardless, but making a really good movie out of the mythos of one of the most iconic film characters in film history is going to be hard to pull off without it just being a bunch of fan wankery.

Wizard of Oz would qualify today as a box office dud. It didn't find an audience until nearly 20 years after it was made.

Okay then, Spartacus.

Kubrick was brought on very early into the Spartacus shoot, and Kirk Douglas was running the show on that shoot from the beginning.

Opie got hired for this flick more than 4 months into the shoot. Opie has got a lot more to clean up.
