it's IndyCar day at Pocono - my favorite day of the year. just took a walk through the paddock and pits - glad I turned around and didn't get run over by Will Power. now sitting in the Club Pocono seats drinking a beer. it is a perfect day for a race, and I hope it's a safe one

Here's hoping for a clean race.  All the crashes in qualifying yesterday have me a little jumpy.

poconojoe, did you get to see any of the vintage cars?  Indycars live stream didn't show that when I was trying to see...

Some top contenders wrecked in practice & qual, but 500 miles is a looong race. Fantasy picks aren't much more of a guess this week: Dixon, TK, Sato, Ed Jones.

Call that fuel for me good today Ed, hope you have a great race.

I'm surprised RHR can even race today.  I was worried about him.  WHen he couldn't put weight on that left leg, I thought his season might have been over.   I'm not his biggest fan; but he's a good bloke and has had more than his fill of bad luck lately.

It's just so picturesque.  The damn race track is dropped in a forest.  There's beautiful lakes around, you can have a great vacation there, etc.  Apparently there's barely any wind today and only about 80 degrees.  (much better than yesterday!)

yep - I was in the stands and got a few pics. it's a little windy here today - hope it doesn't cause problems for the drivers

also - they have non-Indy vintage cars on display on the infield side. I just geeked out over this

Just noticed this isn't a double points race anymore. Guess they did away with the triple crown.

Well that was an interesting interview with RHR just now.  I'm not used to drivers talking about still being spooked about going into a turn where they just crashed a day before.  Mind you, I'm not stupid enough to think they wouldn't feel that way at all, just not used to hearing it.  He said he didn't get much practice today;  maybe two laps at speed.  He said it took him a bit to feel comfortable taking it up to race speed in turn three.  He says when he comes around and sees the the impact on the SAFER barrier,  he thinks it will take about 15 more laps till he'll feel comfortable coming around that curve.

I can't even imagine...

Yeah, Fuzzy's isn't springing for it.  Nobody else is either; at least not this year.

Remember Dixon's interview after his flight at Indy?  Sounded like he'd just suffered a minor widget failure, not become the worlds fastest human jart 15 minutes earlier.

And speaking of, since there's no thrill-ride-buyers at Pocono, I think Dixon should have a pretty good day, unless the luck demon still has it out for him.

Ok, I''m plian wrong.  I read the wind was low from a Reddit user.  I guess it is windy, but at least it's only 80.

LOL!  Dixon is a different breed of cat.  Iceman isn't just his driving style; it's a way of life.

yeah - it's very windy today. coming from turn 3 to turn 1. don't think it will cause problems on the frontstretch but turn 2 through the short chute should be a challenge

Quite flashy!  Very sexy.  I hope all the things they say about better racing due to it being more in the drivers hands to be true.  Also, I hope it inspires another engine manufacturer or two to get involved.  I'm also happy it will reduce cost for the teams.  Anytime that happens it means it's easier for new teams to get in the mix!

I don't think anyone's that interested in getting into Indy, nor are they looking as far as I know.  I think the chassis will probably be good for a couple more years, but by 2020 it's going to be VERY long in the tooth.  That'll be the next big shakeup time I think.

Engines is a dream hope for me, and I agree the chances are higher once they get a new chassis.  Any engine manufacturer getting involved now would be severely behind.  Whatever comes down the pike in a few years better not have a repeat of Lotus' powered-by-hamster experience again.

It's good to see Harding Racing, Steinbrenner, and a couple other teams at least looking to get in the mix though.

Is it just me, or is PT being exceptionally stupid today?

"Here's a guy we haven't talked about today..."  You've mentioned Dixon like every second lap, you twit!

Not to mention, lap 3 - Sato has too much downforce; lap 4 - Sato doesn't have enough downforce....
