Please. Bannon was there to reinforce what this president already believes. Just because Bannon isn't there doesn't mean Bannon's ideas and ideals have exited The White House.

Bannon wasn't ousted because of his support for white power, he was ousted because he was making a play for Trump's power.

but trump's a racist.  why would he denounce racism when he actually believes in the white power agenda?

A president of the US could not attend a funeral,a memorial service or call the mother of the victim of a terrorist attack because he was aligned with the Nazi terrorist.

think about that for a minute.

I got another one - hard core amoral business leaders bailed on trump's blatantly obvious racism while trump's christian evangelical advisers double down on backing the administration's bigotry.

there's nothing good about any of this.  trump's becoming actively dangerous to the stability of the country and now even the GOP elites are *FINALLY* starting to see the problems trump is creating.

Trump won't fire them. Kelly might. Just as it seems was the case with Bannon.

Trump's Nazi sympathizer Q&A was off the cuff. Not sure how firing Bannon would make people believe Trump's impromptu racism was anything but his own intuition.

He DID call Heyer's mother. In all his infinite wisdom, he called during the funeral. Obviously he made the call so he could brag about the size of his penis, but whether he intended to do that bragging during the call or afterward is anyone's guess. My guess is "both."

Weaver95:  and now even the GOP elites are *FINALLY* starting to see the problems trump is creating.

They are not "finally" starting to see those problems. Nearly all of those problems are features, not bugs.

It's just that Trump is starting to create problems that personally affect the GOP elites -- and it's a problem of their own creation, since they grossly overestimated the popularity of the white supremacists. One can only wonder the degree of shock and dismay they faced upon learning that Nazism is less popular in the US than cancer.

/I suppose it's a blessing in disguise that the first murder victim of Pro-Trump Nazism was a photogenic white girl, else there almost certainly would not have been a media sh*tstorm big enough for the media to even consider asking Trump for so much as the time of day
//I would have preferred there to be no murder victims of Pro-Trump Nazism

Y'know, I recall reading an article about a month ago saying that, as wacky as the first few months of Trump's administration had been, August would be the real test. It always seems to be Augustwhen shiat unexpectedly goes down.
Hurricane Katrina hit in August. The 'bin Laden determined to strike' memo was passed (and passed on) in August.
And sure enough, August is when the shiat hit the fan for Trump.

Maybe he expected her to answer the phone? Maybe he expected her to look at her phone when it was ringing, see "Donald Trump" on the caller ID, and answer the phone? Maybe he thought she would decide that talking to the guy whose words and deeds led to her daughter's death should take priority over burying her daughter?

Trump is a big enough narcissist that it's possible. The timing of the call may have been less cowardice and more arrogance.

either way, its a pretty shiatting thing to do while someone is busy burying their daughter.  not to mention that trump also kinda blamed the victim for getting killed.

my .02 cents?  I think trump would have preferred if the murder victim had been a black escaped convict welfare queen with 40 kids, a meth habit, no teeth, and a string of petty drug convictions.  I think he's pissed at the trumpers 'cause they killed a photogenic white woman, and the press releases are just killing trump's numbers.

2017-08-19 02:41:12 AM
Trump said there were good people who were hanging out with the Nazis. He really believes this for two reasons:

1.  Some of the marchers dressed like Trump and called out his name. Trump likes to hear his name, so the people who did it must be nice.

2. Trump hangs put with white supremacists, and Trump thinks he is a good guy.

Actually, he tried to call her repeatedly... during the funeral service and the wake afterwards. Not before or after, but during.

I wonder if it is possible he hoped she would take the call and then stop everything and put him on speaker phone so he could address everyone without having to be there personally, face to face. I mean, after waiting four days, it's a pretty odd coincidence, if he wasn't doing it on purpose. Honestly, I have no idea what to think.  With him it's so hard to tell whether he's doing something because he's stupid, or because he's an asshole, or if it's both, and if so, which way the percentages fall.

that's a really sad commentary on our times.  i'll bet you're right - trump probably will find a way to become even MORE offensive.  I am both horrified and fascinated at this shiat show of a white house.  every time I think trump cannot possibly get any worse or more offensive, he's found a way to not only offend me and the country even further but to stay in power despite constantly breaking the strongest taboos in our culture.

Steve Bannon Speaks After White House Departure: 'I'm Going to War for Trump'

/So why did he resign?

HighOnCraic: /So why did he resign?

because he didn't want to be physically carried out of the white house by the USMC guards and dumped on the streets in front of the press corps.

bannon is a vindictive little snit, but I doubt he's got anything up his sleeve other than slime....and we all know that trump is largely immune to slime.  its kind of what he lives in after all.

Bannon's got nothing he can use against trump.  that said, bannon might have something he can use against the GOP leadership (such as it stands these days).  that might make things rather interesting as we head into impeachment territory.

Who gives a rat's ass if Trump denounces white power assholes NOW?  At this point, we've had over a year to know that, at best, he doesn't give fark one about them, and at worst, he actively and enthusiastically supports them. Hell, we knew about it long BEFORE the election, we shouted it to the heavens, we tried to warn anyone who would listen.  Bannon was a straight-up WS who said point-blank, publicly, that he wanted to burn the goddamn country to the ground and build a fascist state out of the ashes, other people on his staff were, and are, on board with it, and he KNEW it and picked them anyway. Worse still, the farking GOP knew about it all long before anyone else was aware of it, and not only did they refuse to rock the boat, they jumped in and enthusiastically and joyously supported them, in many cases BECAUSE of instead of DESPITE it.  The only reasons that they're making a point of acting concerned about it right now is because (1) public opinion is beginning to shift, and (2) they're hoping to appease their non-white-supremacist voters by feigning enough concern to try to save their skins when the Trump administration finally gets dragged into impeachment hearings.  That's it.

They're farking scum, all of them.  A tepid condemnation now doesn't change a damned thing.

don't forget that trump has a budget fight coming up as well.  he's gotta get his first budget past congress.  And oh look - trump tanked ALL his support in congress!  even his OWN PARTY won't touch him now.  Did I also mention that the Democratic party has exactly zero reason to give the GOP a helping hand on any of this impending mess?

Congress will still get paid.  nobody ELSE is going to get paid tho. meanwhile, the nazis continue to march and possible kill MORE people, our allies flee our side in droves, putin continues merrily on his way, the countries economy tanks, and everyone starts to lose jobs and slowly start to starve....

I think congress would somehow find a way to make sure to pay the people who protect them from hordes of rampaging hungry people.  they might be greedy f*cksticks but they're amazingly intelligent when it comes to covering their own considerably large asses.

Which is why they're so anxious to build and field private armies like Xi or Academi or whatever Prince is calling his goon-guard this month.  When force of arms is sufficient, rule of law is unnecessary.
