Dow drops 200 points, led by Cisco; concerns grow Republican agenda will be derailed

So why wouldn't that jack up the Dow Jones?

In a supply-based world view, killing demand increases supply!

Outside the right wing media, it might mean that there are concerns that Congress can even do basic functions like extend the debt ceiling (preferably to avoid any replay during the Trump administration) or passing a budget.  It isn't even clear if they can avoid a Trump veto.

If cable news says the sky is blue (regardless or right, left, or gripping wing), go outside:  it might be Monday and black.

Because without the Republican agenda of lower taxes (both corporate and personal) as well as deregulation, the US economy will never be unleashed to trickle prosperity down upon the unwashed masses.

Also, all of those "stolen" dollars currently imprised in the Treasury or being wasted on compliance will also never be "freed" to join their brethren in the grand dance of stock buy-backs, hedge funds, or being rolled up and used to snort cocaine off of the buttocks of a comely Eastern European lass by a 24 year-old SVP and former Yale lacrosse star named "Brysen".

My first thought too.

No one knows why the market does certain things.  But the guy on TV wants you to believe.

And tomorrow the market will go back up. Seriously, stop greenlighting every farking stock market movement thread. I get it, you hate Trump (and I do too), but seriously, the market moving 0.6% in a day is nothing noteworthy.

Look dummies:
When I make chicken stock, it's always better if it REDUCES by at least 1/2.
This reduction of the stock market can only be a good thing.
Less money, but more flavorful money.
Must I do ALL the thinking around here?

I think it has more to do with his economic council resigning, but then Trump jumping on Twitter ahead of them and going "you can't resign -- you're fired!"

Business was the last reasonable bloc that was still in the Trump camp. Markets have been bullish all year, salivating from the expectation of a forthcoming business-friendly tax reform windfall.

But now they're not so certain that's going to happen anymore, and they're starting to desert him too. All Trump's got are the Nazis now.

You seem to be under the impression that stock prices have anything to do with profits from operations that sell to consumers. That's not how things work. There's no money in selling things to consumers. All consumers do is demand lower prices, so that's why everything is made in China. Stock prices are related to how much money gets back to stockholders.

/s, kinda

you arseholes (i mean Hugh Manatee as a whole) are going to burn this farkin planet down with rumor and conjecture. Its kinda fitting given the general disdain humans have possessed since pretty much 5ever!

I just hope that I and the light-show can reach climax at the same time (caution to the viewers directly in front of and on all sides of me), I shall try my best to maintain a sure aim ;)

I think it will go up tomorrow as well if Cohn issues reassuring comments. But in fairness I think that's the biggest drop of this year - I could be wrong. But that's a pretty big move as these things go even if it's not the biggest of the year...

Market timing is a fool's errand. Pick an asset allocation you are comfortable with (x% bonds, y% stocks) and keep that ratio. Re-balance it twice a year.

Asking anonymous internet forums for investing advice is also a fool's errand.  If he seriously can't be arsed to research how to invest his money then there is nothing you can do for him.

I thought the big businessman president was a big businessman, and all the other businessmen would fall in behind him because they are all big businessman doing big business while wearing big suits?

Actually, #45 is panning out pretty much as I figured he would. He is revealing himself as an unhinged narcissist autocrat with racist sentiments. As a narcissist, he has contempt for people who are not him, and the more different they are from him, e.g. a different race, gender or nationality, the less he thinks of them.

He's become the huge liability I was afraid he would be, and unfortunately it appears he's already began his 2020 campaign by pandering to the KKK.

Because while the Challenger is really cool but the ZL1 is simply amazing...and faster than a Hellcat to boot.

Meh, reality says I won't get shiat because you can't touch a ZL1 within 500 miles of where I live.

Oh yeah, he's only hanging out for the big chair in the Fed.

And, in fairness, if I had a shot at becoming the most powerful single person in the world economy, I might put up with some shiat to get the gig too.  Every soul has a price...and the devil has a good credit line.

Did you ever see a pack of dogs hanging around some dangling meat?

Republicans have notoriously and consistently fed Wall Street some very red meat for the past 40 years. These pups are feeling teased.

Prey4reign: Agenda derailed?  I didn't realize Fake President Trump had an agenda beyond getting up each morning and tweeting dumb shiat stuff.

He doesn't really.

But the Street fully understands that this is all about THEIR agenda at risk.

When the CEOs all bailed on him, that's creating a significant risk that he might develop an Agenda of Payback.  And that could make their lives complicated for awhile.

He can't really hurt them seriously.  But he can stop the administration from helping them.

And that help was already priced into things like bank share prices.

pdieten: Stock prices are related to how much money gets back to stockholders.

Or speculation about future stock price increases.

Tsela is tens times what I paid for it and many Wall Streeters think it is going to go even higher. Probably the same people who were shorting the stock two months ago.
