That shouldn't even be possible, but they may yet somehow manage it.

That they were ever willing to deal with them at all kind of makes this gesture a wee bit too small and untimely.

Yep. They're not doing it because it's wrong to support Nazis - they're doing it because you think it's wrong to support Nazis. Someone looked up, checked which way the windsock was blowing, and wanted a little bit of that anti-fascist attention that's popular right now.

When no one else brought up too much of a fuss, they were fine with funneling money to Nazis.

Bankers don't want to do business with Nazis. Gee, I wonder why?

I've noticed more Discover card carriers on the US east coast and more Amex on the west. While I was on the east coast, people thought it was strange I had an Amex card.

They can still use their Diners Club cards.

I don't care WHY they're doing the right thing right now, only that they are.

Eh, these days most businesses accept all four. If anything, they usually don't accept AmEx.

I'm pretty sure that most companies don't review individual customers for potential espousal of violence and hatred as part of normal business practices. It's only when a particular group or set of groups makes trouble and complaints start to come in that TOS violations relating to content start becoming a thing.

People seem to feel that companies should routinely take an active monitoring stance toward this. In fact, I can almost guarantee that not one of those groups had a direct relationship with Visa or any other company except PayPal. There's a whole other layer between most websites and those companies, they process internet orders and put them into terms that the credit card companies' systems can deal with. Companies like Product Cart and others that provide checkout widgets for websites are the ones that deal directly with content providers.

So to do a review like this they basically have to look at customers of customers or other customers of vendors, and alert the companies that service the content providers in question of their determination.

Which is why it only happens when there are complaints.

You mean all that Fascism that Antifa is promoting....not that I don't agree with them.  But calling a Fascist Organization AntiFa is pants-on-head retarded.  Quit being hypocrites and I'll quit defending the Bill of Rights in support of people who believe differently than you.

AmEx charges vendors 2x the fees that Visa, MasterCard, and Discover charge.  Its amazing anyone accepts them.

How much brain damage do you need to have to think it's a good idea for your credit card company to make moral decisions for you?

I do not have it in me to make a MasterRace Card comment of some sort.  I feel worse for even thinking about it before my first cup of coffee.

PayPal has already done this for a while, as has Patreon.  One of the groups created a website called Hatreon to raise funds for groups that violate terms of service on other platforms

How much brain damage do you need to have a problem with this particular set of actions? Making life harder for self-proclaimed Nazis and white supremacists is *always* a good idea.

After AMEX lost Costco and the consultants all got that Sapphire Reserve card (you know the one).  AMEX's shiny "if you are a frequent spender we're the best" shine wore off quick.
AMEX isn't the premium card provider anymore as it pertains to perks that big spenders like.  Visa and Mastercard have done an impressive job making it a 3 card race.
