Terrorists Planning Summer Attack

Oh, This is total crazy talk. Terrorists would never attack us here.

2004-05-25 09:27:08 PM
What I'm trying to figure out is: why would people be more likely to vote for Bush if a massive terror attack happened in the US? Assuming it kills more than the Oklahoma City bombing, that would make it so:

1) The two biggest terror attacks in US history happened under GWB's watch, and:

2) Two major terror attacks happened in a single term under GWB.

Somehow, that wouldn't want me to keep the same guy in charge, given his effectiveness...

Let's just go to orange alert now and get it over with.

Uh-oh! It's back

2004-05-25 09:27:53 PM
People say that's it's just another vague warning that something may happen this summer. Ever stopped to think that the US Government thought the same of that PDB back in August. It seems that if that made so many people upset, that they should now bring up any little hint that there may be an attack or it's their asses on the line.

no kidding. The Bush-holes have figured out that they can't win based on Iraq, the economy, foreign policy (because the rest of the world hates us now), or domestic policy. So they are going to try and scare the crap out of us, hoping that people will be too scared to make an administrative change in the middle of a major terrorist threat. I predict that these "threats" will become conveniently more frequent as election day approaches. Unless, of course, Republican polls suggest a new tactic is needed.

What if we threatened today to nuke every major city in the Middle East in the event that another terrorist attack on par with 9/11 happened? Something tells me this would help to get these sunz of biatches to police themselves.

Considering that Yassir Arafat has been unable to stop Hamas, Hezbollah etc., I don't think it would do any good. Terrorism is not state sponsored, despite what the Bushies would want you to think. You can't fight terrorism with military action.

Are people going to vote for idiot boy if there's another attack Dairypope?

2004-05-25 09:30:15 PM
maybe the price of oil will keep rising and the terr'ists won't be able to afford to attack.

I'm no die-hard (or, rather) don't-die conservative. I'm not saying we should run and stock up on Wal-Mart water and hide in bomb shelters, but it's just as foolish for us to go prancing in the streets expecting everything to be business as usual.

To paraphrase something that's old and tired, but true: if we DON'T go prancing in the streets, the terrorists will have accomplished their goals.

Also, I guess you haven't been paying attention because this is the 10th or so random 'oh shiat something big is coming' that we've heard about in the past 2 years... something about boys and wolves and crying....

2004-05-25 09:31:17 PM
"This is almost as cute as when liberals pretend to love the military."

You're so right. Sure, the current administration didn't adequately equip the troops for combat, and they're cutting veterans benefits, and sure Richard Perle doesn't really care much about troops dying, and the number two guy in the pentagon has no idea how many troops are dying because of his push for war... but if there's a speech to be made, or some type of ribbon to be worn, rest assured that our man in the white house will pay all the lip service our country desperately needs.

"Of course, if the alert is raised it's "omg teh bushiatnazi is teh....nazi and is teh marshal law!11," and if not and we're attacked, it's "bush is teh knew!!1."

Personally, I think people just hate Bush because he's Korean. Right, LittleCamel?

Garcia said his agency also is working to "tighten the investigative system" to ensure that terrorists do not enter the United States by way of human smuggling operations or through the vast, largely unprotected border with Canada(or Mexico for that matter)

Great, just tell them how to get into the U.S. so we can be asploded!

Oh, yeah, no one knew that there's big holes in the US-Mexico border. And lord knows that human smuggling is so underground that not even terrorists have heard of it!

Gee, if only the Bush Administration had paid attention to, and acted upon, the intelligence briefings they got prior to 9/11/2001. This would be a whole different world right now.

The White House has repeatedly insisted that the intelligence report included in the president's daily briefing on August 6th 2001 titled "bin Laden Determined to Strike in US" contained "no actionable intelligence" and there isn't anything they could have done to prevent 9/11.

Now they get an intelligence report very similar -- no specific date, or time, or place, or method, and they hold a farking press conference to show that the president cares, that he's on top of it.

Give me a break. These intelligence briefings weren't important until an election year, right Mr. Prez?

I really hate stupid people. Clinton recieved dozens of memos containing exactly what Bush did. They are and were almost a daily occurence, and he still did nothing. And that the fact that they're acting on the threats now shows that they're learning from the past, which is the point right?

/hates stupid dumbass comments...

Gee, I guess it's a really good thing we went into Iraq with our resources and troops. No need to pay any attention to the evil scum who ACTUALLY ATTACKED US, who are now seemingly planning more attacks.

If this country is attacked again, Bush and his vulcan neocon slimeball associates are at fault for taking their eyes of the ball. The one that REALLY mattered.

Good God, I think most you farkers are the most paraniod and predictable bunch of inbreds in the world. I knew as soon as I saw the headline what 90% of the responses were going to be. It is either a great big government conspiracy or, It's a ploy by the Bush Administration to cover it's ass in an election year, OR it's just another way for the Bush admin. to take away more of your civil rights. You dumbasses can't even name 10 of what your civil rights are much less if one has been violated or taken away from you.
How wise and enlightened you 3rd graders are to see through this very crafty smokescreen perpetrated by Big Brother. BWAAAAHAAAA!

See ya.

i get bombed all the time. why should this summer be different?

2004-05-25 09:34:12 PM
If they do attack, they're going to have to get through me first. I'll be right there with my six shooter and I'll be all like PCHOW! PCHOW! and stuff and those evildoers will be smited. That will be fun.

2004-05-25 09:34:49 PM
Ok. then, What should we do? Any ideas?

2004-05-25 09:35:10 PM
Thanks for the warning Super Bee. If the admins pull that image, then the terrorists have won.

2004-05-25 09:35:11 PM
Allow me to duct tape my windows and constantly look over my shoulder. Not.

If they really are serious about this, why doesn't the government go do something productive?

2004-05-25 09:35:21 PM
if details were clear i'm fairly certain the terrorists would cancel their summer "attack."

Then again, 'tis the season for terrorist plots.

Dave The Slushy: Well, that seems to be the general consensus around here, but admittedly, I haven't seen any polls to back that up. I certainly won't, though.

Admittedly, it actually went the other way in Spain, so I may well be very wrong. I hope I am, and I hope we don't have a major terror attack so we never get to find out.

Maybe we should watch both versions, read the book, and then decide. But nobody knows where to find the original release (on dvd)

2004-05-25 09:37:38 PM
smoothsix:If the terrorists were smart, they wouldn't attack this summer. Terror attack this summer = Bush support.

My guess is that terrorists probably would rather have Bush in the White House instead of Kerry. Bush has done what he could to alienate our closest allies in the war against terror by going on a national-building effort instead of tracking down terrorists.

I don't like Kerry, and I don't plan on voting for him, but Kerry would be better than Bush at getting an international coalition together to fight terrorism, instead of being diverted by dubious PNAC/neoconservative goals.

2004-05-25 09:37:40 PM
Let resume things here for those who haven't paid attention:

Terrorists want the US to get the FARK out of their country, period.
No matter what the media bull has been telling you, the only thing this extremists want is for the US to get out of the 'holy lands'...and that's it.

Of course for the US this would be seen as bad for the administration because it means:
- No local military bases in the middle east
- No control of the oil (traderoutes/pipelines/contracts etc...)

So terrorists keep trying to scare the US, not the world. Al-Qaeda fights against the US government, not its people or the world. This is why I doubt there will be terrorist act in Greece. The terrorists don't want to piss off the whole world, just the US.

This would mean that a Government change in the US tied with a closing of military bases in those religious countries and moving out of IRAK would please everybody:

- Terrorists have no more demands and disapear
- Everything is blammed on the previous(current) administration
- The world economy trusts a restart because of the new US gov.
- The world is happy Bush and all the bad decisions made at home in the US are being repealed etc...

You may want to watch the West Wing episode 'isaac and ishmael'...that gives a broader explanation of what the issue is.

But this is just my opinion, I could be wrong...

2004-05-25 09:37:46 PM
And clearly, that was a jab at Al-Qaeda. With the dash and all.

2004-05-25 09:38:06 PM
didn;t RTFA, but from the headline I would infer the US military is going to terrorize some more innocents this summer?

2004-05-25 09:38:13 PM
I was planning to vote for the Libertarian candidate in the election. However, if there is a major terrorist strike in the US in the 30 days prior to the election, I will vote for Bush.

My reasoning is simple ... if the terrorists hate Bush so bad that they want to have Kerry elected, then I need to work towards the opposite goal.

"Just 24 hours before Bush spelled out his vision, one of the most respected US generals, Anthony Zinni, described Bush's Iraq strategy as "at a minimum, true dereliction, negligence and irresponsibility" and "at worst, lying, incompetence and corruption".
The former central command chief, who once headed US military forces in the greater Middle East, called on the top Pentagon civilian leadership, from Rumsfeld down, to resign.

"It should be evident to everybody that they've screwed up. And whose heads are rolling on this? That's what bothers me most."

If bush hadn't invaded Iraq, 9-11 would not have happened! You know it's true!

2004-05-25 09:39:23 PM
Dear Anti-Terrorist-type people: Ok, so I'm extra alert. Now would you please either nab the perpetrators already or tell me WTF I am supposed to do about it?

2004-05-25 09:39:27 PM
Admittedly, it actually went the other way in Spain, so I may well be very wrong.

to be fair, it was already going the other way in spain. a friend of mine who lives there was worried the attack would make people freak out and vote for the people in power at the time instead, but happily they got the boot as expected.

i think americans may be a bit more prone to freak though, personally, and bush vs. kerry is bound to be a lot closer anyway so it could potentially swing it.

anyway, the terrorists want to keep bush in power, since he is most associated with the policies that make arabs bombed, dead, or angry and that helps their cause.

I'm sure you're being sarcastic, but you never know on fark.

2004-05-25 09:41:15 PM
The terrorists want Kerry in power. They want America out of their country and Kerry will do that. Them wanting Bush to win makes no sense.

Nobody knows where to find the theatrical release

Oops sorry I haven't been keeping up. I'm on my second VHS copy, but it's a little worn. I just thought everyone had seen it. Shows how much I pay attention to this Hollywood stuff. I happened to like Deckards voice overs, even though it's said Ford hated them.
