Everyone assume terrorist attack positions!+

*crouches on floor and props feet up on couch*

+ Sarcastic post void if boy is actually being attacked by wolf

Off topic, but how do you get the "News" tag as opposed to the "News Flash" tag? Just wondering.

You don't, an Admin switches it as they see fit. I've Farkbacked about this before.

Bush is such a great president.

Well, I'm off to smoke some more crack.

2004-05-25 08:44:38 PM
This is excellent timing, considering a friend of mine went on a rant yesterday about how Osama's been in custody for a good long while and has been kept under wraps, so they can bring him out and say they "discovered him" in mid August, in time for Bush to look good for the elections.

2004-05-25 08:44:38 PM
Thank God we are in Iraq taking care of that weapon of mass destruction and not spending all our money time and manpower here in the usa.

2004-05-25 08:45:13 PM
Actually, the voiceover, the added last shot, and a couple of deleted scenes are the only differences between the two versions. As I said, I prefer the theatrical release.
Doesn't suck.

2004-05-25 08:46:08 PM
summer? i doubt it - say...september is pretty close to the election isn't it? hmmmm....

connect the dots.

/adios election

NEWS?!?!

HA HA HA HA HA HA

2004-05-25 08:46:56 PM
I haven't seen anything but the DC either.
Maybe on Amazon?

2004-05-25 08:47:13 PM
Whimps win again.

2004-05-25 08:48:05 PM
Aren't we just assuming that they're always planning the next attack, so long as they're still out there? I mean, it's not like the mission to capture Osama and destroy his organization was "accomplished" or anything.

2004-05-25 08:48:16 PM
For every terrorist threat there should be a tax cut for the rich and powerful...oh wait. silly me.

2004-05-25 08:48:26 PM
Here's something...While CNN is saying "on American soil," the Yahoo article isn't as clear. I'm not at all surprised considering how poorly prepared Athens seems to be if the terrorists were targeting the Olympics over the summer. In fact, I had already assumed that they would indeed be after the Olympics. It's a chance to streak a huge blow to the international community and lots of civilians would be in the way, so to speak.

On the other hand, if it's U.S. soil and we know about it, I doubt anything will happen. The terrorists have planned to strike us every six months, and their plans either failed or were stopped. By the CIA that Clinton prepared for encounters with terrorists.

But yeah, I believe that Athens is the real target here. I don't buy that we're gonna get attacked here in the U.S.

2004-05-25 08:48:30 PM
Yes, let's hurry and distract everyone from the failures of the administration. HURRY EVERYONE - PANIC. Unfortunately I think 90% of the moronic population will get all shaken up and say, "Oh thank goodness for that powerhouse Bush. YEH MAN, U.S. ROCKS. Hand me my skoal, honey."

2004-05-25 08:48:48 PM
1.) Horde cases of plastic wrap and duct-tape.
2.) ???
3.) Profit!

Of course, since this one happened last year, I think I'll horde cases of beer instead. If the terrorists really wanted to bring America to it's knees, they'd take out breweries in Mexico, Germany, Ireland, and Britain.

/silly terrorists, no virgins for you!

2004-05-25 08:48:50 PM
that's just not cricket

2004-05-25 08:48:52 PM
"terrorists may possess and use a chemical, biological or radiological weapon that could cause much more damage and casualties than a conventional bomb.

"There is clearly a steady drumbeat of information that they are going to attack and hit us hard"

that happens... and I'll bet money the middle east is bombed back into B.C.

2004-05-25 08:48:53 PM
I'm not worried, I'll be safe and sound at the Olympics in Athens.

In other news, someone will have sex in America this summer. It will be somewhere in the continental US, and the woman will be unsatisfied.

That is all.

2004-05-25 08:49:15 PM
this better not get in the way of elections or I will be livid.

2004-05-25 08:49:16 PM
Garcia said his agency also is working to "tighten the investigative system" to ensure that terrorists do not enter the United States by way of human smuggling operations or through the vast, largely unprotected border with Canada(or Mexico for that matter)

Great, just tell them how to get into the U.S. so we can be asploded!

2004-05-25 08:49:16 PM
There are about 8 bootlegs of the score (Vangelis) too. I still can't tell what's the "best" of those either.

Whoever released that movie probably learned a huge lesson. Ladd screwed up big time. Multiple versions, bootleg copies.... you'd think it was Dune

2004-05-25 08:49:31 PM
gosh, i didn't really want to vote for Bush. But strangely enough, every time they say there's going to be an attack, I feel my approval of his job rising. Funny, that. I wonder if it's a national trend?

2004-05-25 08:49:49 PM
Summer is a really tough market to crack. You have to put a lot of time and money into your "tentpole" terrorist attacks and hope for a real blockbuster. Then there's always the fear that a tiny little low-budget independent terrorist attack will come out of nowhere and grab all of the attention. Also, summer attacks are usually just a bunch of flashy explosions and overblown budgets with terrible creativity and poor acting. I prefer the fall for terrorist attacks, as this is when most organizations are gunning for the major awards and tend to release their best stuff.

2004-05-25 08:49:50 PM
Well, I guess since there's no specific time or place then the Bush administration won't do anything about it.

2004-05-25 08:50:00 PM
Good thing I have stock in the duct tape industry...

Bow civilians of Amerika!

BOW!!!

BOW TO YOUR MASTAS!!!

2004-05-25 08:50:00 PM
It's too bad the govt is so shortsighted as to only think the plans are "sketchy".

If they looked at the bigger picture, they'd realize that the terrorist's plans are etch-a-sketchy.

See...AQ is going to attack California (or maybe Hawaii or Florida?) with a giant lizard or some sort of dinosaur.

/knows as much as the govt does...

2004-05-25 08:51:04 PM
This is quite refreshing!!!!! Attitudes posted here are proof that the terrorists can't win. Nobody gives a fark about them and their threats. I'm truly proud of you guys. (no sacarsm here, I really mean it)...

Bee-Tee-Dub, check this out:

Stay the course! Stay the course!

2004-05-25 08:51:41 PM
Oh, and the director's cut is way superior. The theatrical cut should be taken out of existence. That expository monologue dubbed over the moody parts really ruined the movie by taking all the guesswork out. And the happy ending was stupid.

2004-05-25 08:52:35 PM
Okay, let's cut to the end of this story. we all know where it will be. Let the muslims know if the fark with us again they lose mecca, and park a boomer in the gulf to drive the point home.

2004-05-25 08:52:54 PM
If you've seen no summer terrorist attacks in the last 5 years this is the one to see.

2004-05-25 08:53:03 PM
And we get all these damn warning because people blame others that we didn't see 9/11 coming and did nothing to prevent it. So pick a side in the flamewar and stick with it.

Option 1:
This is the same as martial law, our freedoms are being imposed upon.

Option 2:
This is good, better safe than sorry.

Farker Option:
I am gonna biatch about it no matter what. I don't have a reasonable argument one way or the other but I'm gonna rail against Bush/Kerry/the US Government/Muslims/Neocons/Hippie Liberals/Aliens/whatever.

2004-05-25 08:53:03 PM
I've only seen the TV/Cable/Theatrical (?) release. Never seen the "director's cut".

What's the deal with movies being released with a separate "director's cut" later? Too often just adds an unneeded half hour. Just a way to try to revive the product and sell more? Like slapping on "new and improved" or labling salt as "low carb"? Notice that we never saw director's cut versions of stuff like "Citizen Kane", "Casablanca", "GWTW", anything by Kubrik, Hitchcock, Kirosowa, etc.

2004-05-25 08:53:30 PM
I don't find this amusing, but Bill_Wick's_Friend - that's funny.

2004-05-25 08:53:57 PM
Summer Terrorist Attacks 2: This time it's not summer terrorist attacks 1.

2004-05-25 08:54:11 PM
If I had a panic attack every time Bush claimed looming terrorist action, I'd either be dead by now or voting for Bush in the next election. And if I had a dollar for every claimed looming terrorist action, I'd be a billionaire by now and wouldn't need to vote because I'd have bought the presidency.

2004-05-25 08:54:15 PM
"Let the muslims know if the fark with us again they lose mecca, and park a boomer in the gulf to drive the point home."

should've been done years ago...

2004-05-25 08:54:37 PM
FallingKnife-

that's because the studios didn't make them totally change their movie. Usually, that is, with good movies, DC means that the director's view was altered, such as being forced to remain within a time limit

Terrorist threat = Kangaroo Jack 2

2004-05-25 08:55:21 PM
Of most concern, the official said, is that terrorists may possess and use a chemical, biological or radiological weapon that could cause much more damage and casualties than a conventional bomb.</i. or they may throw rocks.

this article tells us NOTHING.

well besides that those in power are either covering their asses or trying to rally voters to them. anyone besides me remember the gulf of tonkin resolution?

2004-05-25 08:55:41 PM
Senaldun

Senaldun option: be a moron

2004-05-25 08:56:08 PM
These include as many as 20 agents each day working with the Secret Service to protect the campaigns of President Bush (news - web sites) and Sen. John Kerry (news - web sites), the Democratic presidential candidate.

Who wold bother to assassinate John Kerry?

2004-05-25 08:56:17 PM
The one guy from Crossing Over said there would be no attacks like 9-11 ever again though!

2004-05-25 08:56:19 PM
The Pigs are in the Farm House, The Pigs are in the Farm House!

2004-05-25 08:56:25 PM
In a shocking turn of events, Farkers have decided to rail against the government. Also, Rumsfelds breasts are too small. Most Farkers have been with Defense Secretaries WAY hotter than "Rummy," anyhow.

2004-05-25 08:56:34 PM
