(The New York Times)   Since his firing, Reince Priebus has been happily spending time with his family, taking nice long walks, planning to have an on-the-record chat with Robert Mueller, enjoying leisurely meals with good friends and, wait...back up   ( nytimes.com) divider line

Gosh howdy, but it's just terrible that Reince got booted so unceremoniously. I wonder if that will play any part in his testimony?

Golly gosh howdy, but who could have possibly known that someone so close to the President might get called up? If only there was just some way to predict this crazy Man World...

And since Rinsed Pubis is the former head of the RNC, this could have interesting consequences for the entire GOP.

/like RICO charges
//and asset seizures due to money laundering
///and every Republican anywhere that received one cent of support from the national party being tainted
\\\who am I kidding, they're already tainted
\\by licking a certain Russian's taint

Guys, I want the "former employee scorned spills the beans" story to come true as much as you, but that isn't what the article says.

Mueller was going to interview him, as he will all people involved.

And Priebus isn't any more likely to spill the beans than he was before. Remember, he was head of RNC at the time, he knows he helped accept shady Russian campaign funds, he knows he got the anti-Hillary Intel to part leaders from Russia... He committed crimes. He is just as invested to keep quiet as Trump is

Pretty sure Donnie doesn't really know Priebus very well. Didn't do much at the office.

Trump seems to think that if he fires someone, that's it, they're done, he's just crushed them into powder and they will never been seen or heard from again.

Uh, no, Donnie.  Firing them leaves any incentive they had to nottalk.

True.  However if Mueller and Co. get(or already have) some leverage on him the combination of save your skin and disgruntled employee could make for a tasty dish of revengioli.

All true, but in investigations of groups of people smart investigators will be looking for inconsistencies and pitting each against each other. Trump's horrid Battle Royale "management style" and utter self-centered approach to absolutely everything makes Mueller's tools particularly powerful.

This doesn't mean anything that the other 50 bombshells didn't. Trump's not getting impeached. He's not going down. He's not going to get punished or reprimanded. And he certainly won't change because there's a threat. The shiat show will continue for at least the next three and a half years, and given the utter stupidity on public display in this country, it's likely to be another seven and a half years.

There is no smoking gun, and even if there is, do you really think Paul Ryan and the rest of the limp noodles in Congress are going to do anything about it? Really? No farking way.

Preibus is a good soldier. He won't burn any bridges. His loyalty is to the party, not Trump, and the party will tell him to STFU because they don't want yet ANOTHER (R) President leaving the office in disgrace.

This is nothing, just like the last one was nothing, and just like the next "Gotcha!" moment will be nothing.

It won't.

Reince has BEEN the party, lord and master of the magic R, for a long long time.  When his options are "go after the jerk who was mean to you" or "take him down, and scuttle the party with him" the option is fairly clear.  He'll keep to the eleventh commandment just like every other piece of shiat in the GOP.

That's the big problem, sure Trump is bad for the Republican party in a lot of ways, but getting rid of him means a party civil war with an unknown number of casualties.

But what if the choices are "flip on your party" or "go to jail"? As others in this thread have pointed out, Reince was head of the RNC, he knows there was Russian money coming in.

Priebus is now on the outside of the GOP.  No one is willing to protect him.  The femtosecond he finds out Mueller has soild evidence, Priebus will make a deal and sing longer and louder than Ethel Merman.

This will be nothing.

Let's not forget that Rinsed Penis is party before country. Even though he was booted from Washington he won't do anything that will jeopardize GOP power. Even if he is ousted from the RNC he still has an allegiance to the RNC base and I do not see that going away. You don't just wash off that kind of stench and brainwashing. Not to mention if he turns on that base, he will be unemployable.

recondite cetacean: I love it when Trump gets scared and talks off the cuff, putting his foot in his mouth. I bet Mueller is leaking little bits just for President Stupid.

Mueller is not going to do anything that will endanger his prosecution. That means keeping his mouth shut and documenting every movement he does and having a clean paper trail. Trump has already tried to muddy the waters by trying to have contact with Mueller. You can bet that Mueller will refuse to have a private conversation with Trump unless there is a running tape recorder on the table between the two of them and at least two witnesses.

Trump is dumb enough to do things off the cuff to try to move attention. Look at the timing of the "transgender-army-firing" and when Manforts house was raided by the FBI. The FBI raid was pre-dawn July 26. The Transgender tweet announcement was a couple of hours later. I'll bet Trump was looking for a reason to lash out about Manafort and the item at the top of his desk was "Transgenders in the armed forces"

If you are going to take down an administration: Your case has to be: Air tight, Have every "i" dotted and "t" crossed, Burnished so it shines, have a perfect paper trail, show no signs of political preference or chicanery, and sterile enough so you cook and serve it to your children for breakfast with no fear of food poisoning. And the case has to be perfect - You can't have any spots in the case where the jury has to "fill in the blanks and hope for the best"
