Be careful about criticizing the suspension or you'll be accused of endorsing domestic violence.

I guess I dont understand. So for the first incident, witnesses (the victim's friends) said she was lying and her own text messages said she was going to accuse him of DV if they didn't get back together. The third incident, he was in the same building but nowhere near the DJ when somebody decked the DJ and broke his nose. The second incident where he pulled down the woman's shirt I have no problem with punishment being meted out for. I don't see how they get six games out of this; the math just doesnt add up.

There are photographs of her all bruised up on face neck arms and hips. But to hear Cowboys fans talk she probably fell into a doorknob. 20 times. On 3 different days. Clumsy girl.

I don't know. I haven't seen all the evidence. But I do know that the Columbus PD couldn't put a case together to prosecute him. And I also know that she threatened to ruin his career. However, she could've threatened to rip his face off & unless she was holding a knife at the time, it wouldn't justify physical violence against her. I know you think I'll just defend any Cowboy player any time, and that's a very convenient narrative for you, but it's not true.

I haven't seen anyone excuse his behavior because of what team he plays on. The reason people are upset is because the punishment phase of these investigations appears to be wildly inconsistent.

Want to hear my narrative of what I think actually happened? Or just keep making thewm up for me? I mean, I wont lie, I do get great joy from Cowboys suffering but I learned that from you . I feel I can usually do a pretty good job of predicting how a situation like this plays out and what evidence is in play by staying objective enough to see possibilities and twisting knives when appropriate.. Which is kinda fun in itself

But you sure as hell show up in every Cowboys thread & if I dare respond to you, you latch on like a goddamn barracuda. You're not interested in a conversation. Didn't the league's letter say something about pulling down a girl's shirt?

Still not worth 6 games (saying that even as an Eagles fan), so probably they intend for it to be appealed down to one game.

Also, WTF Eagles, Hollins has one highlight in preseason so you trade Matthews?

I recall another player recently fighting his suspension because there was lack of evidence and it seemed ridiculous. Some folks kept saying that player and his fans should just accept it and move on.

This past St Patrick's Day, he was on a balcony during the parade in Dallas. There was a woman next to him & he reached over & yanked on her shirt, exposing her breast. I guess there was shakycam video (I didn't watch it). It was shiatty of him. He should honestly know SO MUCH BETTER.

Wasn't me. Not last year, anyway. If those fans are still mad about it a year later after their team won the  Super Bowl, then yeah, it's probably time to move on.

Di Atribe: Be careful about criticizing the suspension or you'll be accused of endorsing domestic violence.

Well, I've heard enough from Roethlisberger haters that just being accused enough times means that he is obviously guilty of something, even if the courts disagree, and therefore deserving of a suspension. (that is sarcasm, btw)

/IMHO: He should get at most a 1 game suspension for the "pulling off a woman's shirt at Mardis Gras" just for being stupid and move on.  The other accusations have all been shaky at best, and outright fabrications according to some sources.
//But my real opinion is that the NFL is not a criminal justice system; they are an employer.  Their options should be "Whatever the courts decide is your punishment" or "Your bad for our brand, so b-bye."  This kangaroo court shiat of mock punishment needs to stop.

They probably weren't going to resign him and they are so bad at corner.  But the WTF is about them drafting a hurt corner in the first place when there were other guys available and to lose a third.  Bad job by Howie.

OJ wasn't convicted of murder either. But he was found guilty enough to lose a wrongful death suit.
Just because they couldn't prosecute him criminally, doesn't mean something didn't happen. The NFL isn't held to the same standard of proof as the criminal justice system.

I agree with this assessment. We all know he's done some really dumb shiat & that he needs to get his act together. We can't make the "he's so young & doesn't know any better" excuse for him. He's a grown man. HOWEVER

I mostly agree with this. The NFL is a very visible organization. I know some people are concerned with the message it sends our kids. I think the NFL should do a better job counseling their players on what is unacceptable behavior & institute preventative programs. A lot of these players (Zeke very likely included) have probably never been told no in their lives, as long as they're winning games. That's shiatty. And we need to help them understand that they're not above the law or consequences.

But I also think that we, as parents, can do a better job of talking to our own damn kids about acceptable behavior.

I realize that. And I'm not saying that nothing happened. I said above that I don't know and unless you were there, neither do you.

But I'm not sure OJ is a really good comparison since that actually went to trial.

Probably already covered, but we need to talk about the important impact. Him beating his girl drops him from a top 5 fantasy pick to what? 10th round?

I'm as big a Cowboys (well, Jerry Jones, more than anything these days) hater as there is...but this suspension stinks to high heaven.

I'm all for harsh punishment to men that are abusing to the ladyfolk, but the ones that do the whole "Imma ruin your shiat by calling you a rapist" color it for everyone.

This is a bad suspension, based on the publicly available information I've seen thus far

You left out the part where I said "the NFL isn't held to the same standard of proof as the criminal justice system". Regardless if anything happened or not, The "because he wasn't criminally charged" argument is stupid.

SOME type of punishment, i think, would be good for the young lad.   The sooner he realizes he ain't a kid in a candyshop, the better off he'll be for his longterm future.

I'm not saying, he can't enjoy the exuberance of youth, but keep it cool. Being in the NFL, you now have a price on your head.

6 games?  Sounds like a lot.   I'm not biased... I like Ohio State, but enjoy the Cowboys dealing with drama, so this issue is completely middle of the road for me.

The "he wasn't criminally charged" statement was only part of what I said & I never implied that it was the only criteria that should be used. I also never said that he shouldn't be punished. Just that I think 6 games is a lot.

I know a lot of you think I was just going to come in here & defend Zeke 1000%, so you're having trouble comprehending what I'm actually saying. I would encourage you to read my posts in the voice of a normal person, just talking to you, and not a stark raving lunatic dressed in head-to-toe blue & silver, screaming that my team can do no wrong. I'm actually a pretty normal person, ok? Cool. Thanks.

For the record, Eliott's dad has been in the picture.  He moved to Columbus during the OSU days to serve as a chaperone as best that his son will allow.  He's even been quoted as saying his son "ain't ready for this", meaning the fame and fortune of the NFL.

There's just only so much a parent can try to do with a kid who's now a grown man, who makes his own millions of dollars.  How you gonna convince someone like that they in the wrong?

All good points & I totally agree. But I was mostly talking about kids who idolize athletes, not the athletes themselves. I meant that we, as parents, should be able to talk to our kids about their heroes & be able to separate on-field talent with off-field behavior.

This.  "Based on the publicly available information I've seen thus far."

I've been a Cowboys fan for life.  HATED HATED HATED when they signed Hardy.

But I still have to give Zeke the benefit of the doubt - "based on the publicly available information I've seen thus far."

I would also like to remind everyone that personal attacks against fellow Farkers is, to the best of my knowledge, against the ToS around here.
