Hard to land a punch when your gloves are overflowing with bullsh*t...

Jeez, maybe they should just get Vince McMahon to arbitrate

That would mean Braun Strowman ends up running in and beating up both men in a comical fashion.

.......

Yeah, I like your plan, let's roll with it.

This is the only interesting thing to happen to this fight thus far. 8oz gloves would make Maybe's hands much faster, but they will also make McDicks punches hurt more. If we know anything about Flowbee, it is that he does not like getting hurt, and if we know anything about Mickey Mouse, it is that he likes hurting people. This makes the odds of the Angry Irish Inch pulling out a win or at least a competitive bout go from 0% to maybe 7%.

If they went to UFC gloves or bareknuckle I might actually pay to see it. Boxing when you are afraid of breaking your hands is such a different game

Does it matter what size the gloves are when they're just going to dance around for 12 rounds?

Arguments in favor of smaller gloves will have to be weighed against potential concerns regarding fighter health and safety, which Bennett recently told ESPN is of the "utmost importance to this commission."

Oh god stop, this just too much. Safety is definitely of utmost importance to the commission that sanctions head beating contests.

I really think you need to learn the proper names of these fighters.

And refuse to drop the standing eight count.

DIdn't they realize that the heaviest gloves were worse (do more to cause what is now know as CTE) since at least the 1980s?  Did they ever get rid of 16oz (or whatever it was that only added padding to the sides not the front)?

Don't forget the weight of the gloves directly contributes to CTE.  This has been known for some time, but the NFL has done a lot to interfere with the research.

Lots of good stuff upthread but yes - the idea of moving to a safer, smaller glove being a "safety" concern is farking ridiculous. They want more safety? Go to smaller gloves, shorter fights, and if a guy has a visible concussion, stop the fight instead of giving him a standing eight count to get back in and get his brain bruised even more.

I "smarted" something a Michigan fan said, I'm off to take a shower and contemplate where life went so wrong.
